Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Mayfair Hotel is celebrated for its comfortable rooms equipped with modern touches and its central location, making it a hit for those looking to explore the heart of Adelaide. While many appreciate the luxurious amenities and the hotel's overall atmosphere, some guests find the vibrancy of common areas lacking and have encountered noise disturbances.
Service is acknowledged for its friendliness, but inconsistent housekeeping has been a sore point. Despite the mixed feedback on value, with some travelers questioning the cost relative to their experience, the hotel's amenities, including the minibar, generally leave a positive impression.

Detailed Reviews
The check in was smooth and super polite.
The rooms were beautiful and felt really upscale and felt clean.
The free mini bar and free water (4 bottles) was a nice touch (free mini bar alcohol was 1 beer and 1 cider). I would have liked the room service food to be more affordable.
The check out was also very smooth and they held our bags for 5 hours after check out with no issue (because our plane departed 6pm and checkout was 11am).
The main drawback is the lack of a swimming pool on the premises.
You can apparently buy some pass to a gym to go swimming (10 minutes walk away) but who can be bothered with that.
The "smart casual" dress standard for all hotel guests listed in the hotel instruction book was a bit off putting because as tourists you sometimes need to be wearing shorts, t-shirts and walking shoes for a day of walking around in the hot sun. So because of that requirement we constantly felt under-dressed (and unwelcome) whenever we were passing through the hotel lobby. It's not nice to feel unwelcome at your hotel so I'd say they should remove that smart casual dress requirement for the lobby, hallways, etc. Only have smart casual requirement for the food and drink venues.
It is probably the best located hotel in Adelaide - right on the doorstep of Rundle mall and restaurants the other way, North Terrace very close and trams going south as far as Glenelg beach.

Hi Dan Thank you for choosing the Mayfair and for taking time to post a TripAdvisor review. I'm really pleased that you enjoyed your rooms, the service and our central location. The 'smart casual' reference in the compendium is really just a guideline for the food and beverage outlets, and comfortable summer clothing is of course perfectly fine. We hope to see you again soon. Best regards Martin Radcliffe General Manager

I treated myself to a night at the Mayfair so I booked myself the deluxe king suite.
Upon arrival, the hotel reception was clean with hand sanitizer conveniently located and screen protectors in front of the service desk but I found a bit hard to hear the lady serving me, but needed for Covid reasons.
The room was spotless and tidy and when I turned on the TV, it had my name to welcome me. There was complimentary wifi and minibar items.
The downsides was that I found the bathrobes small and towels a bit short and not really fluffy. The lack of crockery and cutlery in the room was a bit annoying. Only coffee mugs and two glasses. The restaurant was closed due to Covid, and I could either use the room service menu, which I found a bit pricey plus not a lot to my liking or go out and get something, but had to make sure I could eat it without a plate or fork.
And the curtains, I expect to have a fully dark room when sleeping but lots of light coming from the edges of the curtains despite trying to keep them against the wall that I woke up early in the morning because of it.
Checking in and out was simple and efficient so you don't have to hang around too many people or could choose a contactless checkout if in a hurry.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Adelaide. Beautifully appointed, super quiet and helpful friendly staff. The beds are big and very comfortable, bathrooms clean and generously sized and the soundproofing means you can hear other guests or street noise

We booked 3 nights at the Mayfair as the Adabco was not available. On arrival at 7.30 pm there was no one to assist with luggage, i managed by myself as my partner parked the car across the street. The room was neat and tidy with cards saying who had cleaned it. however Saturday the bed looked like a kid made it, the table where we had drinks and nibbles the night before had not been wiped down, nor the bed side tables, crumbs on floor not picked up. Our toiletries had not been replaced, nor our tea and coffee supplies. As we got back to our room after 4.00pm there was no in house staff available so a manager came up with a wet cloth and wiped the areas and replenished the missing toiletries and tea and coffee. A closer look at the tables and they were gritty and needed more than a quick wipe over. It was disappointing In this time of COVID. Positive the Beds were soft and limited outside noises. Parking ended up being outside in 7 level parking station.

Dear Kathy, Thank you for taking the time to review your experience. We are sorry to read that your experience with us was below your expectations and our usual standards. Our Hotel has implemented a heightened level of cleaning for all areas of our Hotel, for which our teams have been trained to complete for all guest rooms and public areas. This includes an increased frequency of cleaning. It's disappointing to read your comments considering the increased processes we have in place to combat this - I will certainly review this with our team to investigate this further. We hope to have an opportunity to discuss this with you further if you have time. Warm regards, Michael Collis General Manager

We stayed here on the 8th August 2020, on Arrival it took some time to get checked in, when we did the gentlemen was very polite and helpful, Our room was very nice, bed was comfortable. A bottle of Rockford was requested to be in the room chilled prior to arrival, we had a warm bottle sitting on the bench ready ( not great) mini bar is included but they had not restocked it or replenished the snacks. had to call for restocking and change for a cold bottle of Rockford which took a long time. we were given a ticket on arrival to self park with no mention of any charges, when we checked out we were charged for this. Breakfast was included in our package, when we arrived at the dining in the morning and were seated we were then advised we only had a limit of $25 p.p to use and anything extra would be charged, most meals are close to $25 with out adding any sides so it was a very small breakfast on its own. We also experienced people arguing out side our door and ringing the bell, this is a bit hard for the hotel to control however did not make for an enjoyable night

Staff were friendly and very attentive, especially the concierge with baggage storage upon our arrival - great location and bed was very comfortable. The view from our room wasn’t great as it faced out directly onto an external wall. Other than that, great hotel, breakfast buffett very good!

+1
We stayed at the Mayfair for our 12 year wedding anniversary using the Five and Fabulous offer. The Mayfair is a really relaxing place - staff are friendly, and funny with jokes. 😊 It’s the perfect place to get away from the world for a little while and just enjoy. The rooms are beautiful, clean, stylish, modern, spacious. The bathrooms are just perfect with everything you could need. As it was a special occasion we were treated to magnificent chocolate coated strawberries in our room on arrival and champagne. The mini bar is complimentary, as are the water bottles (definitely welcome on a hot day), and room service is 24 hours, so you won’t go hungry. We ate at the Den for dinner and the Mayflower for breakfast, and both were divine, tasty, beautifully presented, and had comfortable chairs, with cushions. (The focus did seem to be on seafood, though there was enough vegetarian and fish free meals to keep us happy). The hotel is convenient to Rundle Mall, where we spent our $50 gift card from the hotel. The carpark is on the other side of Hindley Street...it was fine, but the spaces are quite tight...large cars would struggle. The only downside was that the internet kept dropping out during our stay, but it really didn’t matter...it was good to be away from news for a bit to just focus on relaxing, reading, looking out the window at the world going by, and spending quality time together in our favourite hotel. It is a magical place that we really love and will keep coming back to to. 💗

Lovely hotel, excellent location, room was very comfortable.
Booked Champagne High Tea in Room as a surprise for my partner - arrived 45 minutes late and I had to ask for it and it appeared thrown together in two separate lots not on one stand, the restaurant manager was apologetic and upgraded the two glasses of champagne which was nice but there was no tea or coffee with it. Inclusions in the room rate were missing L’occitane skincare range only got shaving creme, no chocolates and champagne wasn’t in the room on arrival. It sort of takes the shine off things having to ask for them when you’ve prearranged things and I stopped asking as I didn’t want to spoil the experience further for my partner.

Upon arrival we were greeted by The mayfair's friendly concierge who arranged our room cards promptly , explained the joint parking arrangement that is provided by the hotel with a near bye parking lot. We were very happy with our overall stay. We would like to pass on our compliments to The Mayfair's in house keeping, our room and ensuite were immaculate with all in room comfort and conveniences, which created more comfort for us to relax and recharge during our stay. We were also pleased with the mattresses chosen by the hotel, they were delightfully comfortable while supportive with minimal partner disturbance over the course of our stay. We pass on our compliments to The Mayfair's Head Chef and their team for our beautifully cooked house breakfast. It was delicious! Made even more special with complimentary French patisserie. We recommend The Mayfair to others wanting to stay for a variety of occasions.
Thank you Kindly.

The Mayfair is a genuine gem in the middle of the CBD . The room is well appointed with plenty of fluffy towels, the most comfortable bed which is cloudlike in comfort , a generous tea and coffee station and a complimentary mini bar with my Qantas package .
The staff were genuinely friendly and informative.
The Mayflower restaurant was a perfect start on my forst evening and the covid-friendly assisted buffet breakfasts were full of choice and fresh ,fresh, fresh !
With Rundle mall literally on the doorstep it truly ticks all the boxes .
