The Stamford Plaza Adelaide garners mixed reviews, with many guests appreciating its central location near attractions despite some noting the area can be noisy. The service is a point of contention—while the staff's friendliness is often commended, there are criticisms regarding inefficiency. Rooms are recognized for their comfort and spaciousness, yet several travelers call for updates and better maintenance. Cleanliness generally receives praise, though issues have been flagged beyond the lobby. Overall, guests question the hotel's value, pointing to outdated amenities and the need for a refresh to justify the rates.

The Stamford Plaza Brisbane is a quality hotel. The Adelaide version is not. Paid for a park view and the windows are so filthy you can't take a photo through them. Door to adjoining room (not requested) was not locked, meaning guests in the next room could walk in and vice versa. Took 30 minutes to get it locked with a key by maintenance, meaning we had to wait around to secure our belongings until fixed. Hotel requires guests to request their room to be cleaned the night before. Did that, but were left without any towels. Waited 30 minutes for someone to bring towels (still waiting) so went and tracked some down from a cleaner so we could shower! Tried repeatedly to call reception to cancel my request for towels but no answer, even when calling externally. Switchboard completely AWOL. At 9am the pool area had not been cleaned from the party the night before - wet towels, litter, cigarette butts, ash, furniture strewn everywhere. Pool cleaner did the pool only (to the sound of his loud boom box) then left the scene. Not at all relaxing and not a single umbrella for shade in the scorching sun. No soap in the pool bathroom which was eventually filled 30 minutes after being told it would be 2 minutes. So much for extra hygiene efforts! We supposedly received an upgrade to a deluxe room. The bathroom is tiny, the shower is cramped with poor water pressure.
Positives: Comfortable bed, big TV, good location (although the CBD is generally grungy and wouldn't want to walk alone at night), nice view overlooking the Adelaide Oval (if you don't mind viewing through unwashed windows).

Checked in yesterday. Room 602 is exactly what we selected, quite spacious. But the aircon is very very noisy. Maintenance had a look and concluded as compressor issue, not possible to fix in short time. Reception managed to move us to room 627, the aircon is quiet but room is much smaller, they had to set up a kid bed n the sofa area. Spoke to the reception because it's supposed to be cheaper price. Reception advised this new room could have NYE firework view so it's actually a free upgrade. However last night we noticed the new casino being built on the Riverside pretty much locked 90% of the firework view, very disappointing. The swimming pool in 20th floor is another disgrace, it's very outdated. Running out of towel but no staff come to restack, but you can see used towels at the bottom of the pool. Sunlongers were very messy. Spa is out of order. The painting on the wall looks like graffiti in Sydney Kings Cross. Water is very cold.....You might think you just checked in a Best Western motel in outback.

What a disappointment. My friend and I are holidaying in Adelaide over Christmas from Brisbane and as a treat, we booked Christmas lunch at the Adelaide Stamford Plaza back in October. This included a 3 hour “premium beverage package” and cost $164 each. Our first surprise was that we were seated at a table of 8. This would have been good to know in advance, especially with Covid being prevalent. While some of the food was nice, nothing was outstanding and the experience was sadly lacking. It was probably a mistake for the staff to have put menus on the tables as many people were looking at the menu wondering where or when certain advertised food would appear. So, here are my concerns. Despite the drink package, we had to ask for sparkling wine and were told we could have it but it would take about 15 minutes to be delivered. All soft drinks/juice were placed outside the room, non-drinkers had to leave the table and serve themselves. Some of the soft drink jugs had no spout, so when poured, the drink went all over the table. Soft drinks were flat. When my friend mentioned this to one of the waiters, they apologised, but no solution. So my friend asked for a glass of lemon, lime and bitters, only to be told that they don’t do that drink. So much for a premium drink package. There was no cutlery on the table. We had to pick up our own from the same table as the food, causing further congestion in the queue. Dinner plates were only available on the same buffet table as the food, holding up the queue. There was no gravy or cranberry sauce for the turkey and the sauce for the ham ran out. Dishes (including the turkey, bread rolls and custard) were very slow to be replaced and in some cases were not replaced. We had to initially ask for used plates to be removed. There were no finger bowls, nowhere to clean your hands from the seafood. I asked for a finger bowl and after about 15 minutes, I was given one. There was no plate on the table for seafood shells. There were no oysters (despite being advertised) until people asked. Unfortunately, this has become a memorable Christmas buffet for all the wrong reasons.

My husband and I travelled to South Australia from Victoria on a road trip for two weeks staying at the Stamford Plaza Adelaide for three nights. The hotel is located on North Terrace in an absolute prime location, opposite the train station, on the tram line, close walking distance to Central Market, Art Gallery, Rundle Street Mall shopping, football ground and excellent restaurants, however the hotel lacked the “normal standard” of a capital city hotel. The Bar and lobby area closed, a restaurant was opened for a basic breakfast only no other meal service provided. The daily room service was not completed and we had to request this to be attended to on both days and even then we noticed the surfaces in the room had not been cleaned. Some hotels have opted out of this service by either pulling the “we are looking after the environment” or “due to COVID we are short staffed “ excuses then offering a $10 drink in lieu.
They were even unable to offer a copy of a street map for travellers. We would not return to this alleged 5 star hotel.

Reception customer service was awesome, but we stayed for the friday and saturday and ordered the all inclusive package for the friday and the romance and seduction for saturday for me and my partners one year. Firstly the room wasnt the right one as we needed a bath for the package we ordered and the first room didnt have a bath because we were "further up" in the hotel, so to get a room with a "bath" we were lowered to 7th floor which included a showerbath, they never said anything about how big the room or bath would be, but the room wasnt as impressive or anything like the photos, it was outdated and would pass better as a business suite, the bath was far from luxurious. La boca was amazing for dinner, but the hotels 'all inclusive package' breakfast was two choices of pancakes or sausages and toast which took us 50 mins to receive with no apologies for us watching them serving our meals to others. The romance package was amazing with a bottle of red and champagne with canopes and strawberries, but the bath wasnt what was pictured and a little small, then the breakfast was called up to us at 8:45 for a planned 9 delivery saying that it would be best for us to come down to la boca to collect. When it was meant to be room service, and again, no apologies or understanding when they said we were right, then it was delivered at 9:45 after all that when the night before i wanted it at 9. The king bed was super comfy and housekeeping was very professional, but the value for hard earned money spent was very sub par and feel very jipped

We stayed in the spa suite overnight on the Friday. Upon walking into the room it was we stepped into a vortex of the 1980s. When you’re paying top dosh for a supposedly 5 star hotel it can be quite a small shock. We only really wanted the spa bath so we just rolled with the punches. Spa was roomy, however when looking up you can see grubby black hand marks all over the man hole, the light made a sound that sounded like 56 mosquitoes were being killed and you the temperature of the spa that they chose is Lukewarm? Such a bizarre set up.
To no fault of there own, we were woken by ridiculous roadworks, we were moved promptly but did so in the middle of the night. The service we acquired was great, We were offered a free breakfast to compensate but with all due respect, with the money we paid that should of Been inclusive. Not really impressed guys, were all living through such tricky financial Times and I think people expect abit more from there money.

Stayed in this hotel for a few days on a visit to Adelaide. Overall experience is poor to average.

When we arrived, the room we were allocated, numbered 21, was so near the elevator that every elevator trip filled the room with noise that would have meant sleep was impossible. Asked to change rooms and was allocated room 06. So first lesson for other travellers, ask for a room numbered 1 to 10, to be as far away from the elevator as possible.

The room was standard, double bed, three chairs, table and writing desk, colour tv, bar fridge, tea, coffee and wines. So far as expected. Bed was comfortable, four good pillows.

Bathroom as standard, nice towels, selection of soaps and shampoo.

Breakfast was, in my mind expensive for what it was. We had continental on only the Sunday , $28 per person. Barista coffee was an additional $5. Plenty to choose from, fruit, breads, etc. However, during the week there are many cheaper cafes around the area which we used.

The one issue for us was that when we arrived, there was a scrunched up sheet in the hallway, over a tray of dirty dishes, obviously someone's food service. The tray was removed the next day but the sheet stayed for three days. During that time, food was delivered and collected from the room on each day. In the end we took a photo and showed the staff downstairs and hey presto, it was gone. This though symbolises the attention to quality. Why food staff could not pick it up or arrange for house keeping to come and pick it up, I don’t know especially since housekeeping went past there every day.

So overall, my feeling remains and poor to average, even though the ad blurb claims a high standard establishment.

Would I come back?

It is centrally located but then so are others, so probably no, I would not come back.

Stayed two nights for business. Very friendly and professional staff who clearly understand customer service. Room was spacious and very well appointed. A really nice touch was if you purchased the bottle of wine in room, you receive a complimentary cheese platter. Wine was reasonably priced too! Very well located in North Terrace, mid-way in the CBD with ample cafes and bars in the alleys and lanes behind the hotel. Perfect spot and perfect experience.

As we were to stay only one night we had booked a cheaper small room. The driveway and reception staff were wonderful - efficient and friendly. I would not like to take a large car up the ramp into the parking area! As expected our room was quite small and the view, from the 9th floor, was one of the less exciting ones over rooftops of slightly less tall buildings nearby. Despite the compactness of the room it was well appointed, comfortable and clean. Parking was to my way of thinking quite expensive pushing our ‘budget’ room into a higher bracket. Never-the-less for a decent room in this very good location it was good value. If staying longer we would have needed a bigger and better room, changing that value. It comes down to what you expect and your budget.

This is an average hotel at best. The location was good. We got to the hotel and the concierge service does not take luggage in. The room was clean however there was only one bathrobe. For a five star hotel I expect more. There was no complimentary water.
On the first night our toilet had a leak and that took a few hours to sort out.
After room service came through during the day the milk was not replenished.
We realized we had forgotten an item of clothing a few days after check out. We had to call to see if it was there. I would have expected them to call us to let us know that we had left something. When we went to pick it up, they had put it in a rubbish bag which was very sticky. I’ll never stay here again, very disappointed.

Hi 👋 yes it is, it’s a very easy 4 Or 5 minute walk. Turn right out of the hotel, walk to then intersection, cross over turn right up king William, then left into Rundle Mall. It’s very conveniently located and it’s also almost opposite the train station. 😁
