This review is late coming... we had such a positive experience at the Playford and can't thank the team enough. Professionalism, humour and a can do attitude. I could tell the staff really cared about making the stay for their guests the best possible. Lovely clean room, fresh air an absolute godsend, amazing freshly cooked meals (and flexibility to change to accommodate weird diet needs and fussy children). The team had clearly thought about how to make a stay memorable - just EVERYTHING was excellent. Fingers crossed when the weirdness of Covid eases, we will come back and reminisce and meanwhile have told everyone we know to support this hotel when visiting Adelaide.
Went into hotel quarantine on arrival into Adelaide and could not have ended up at a better hotel. Room wasn’t the biggest but plenty of room to move around and exercise. Bathroom was large and windows opened. (Rare for a quarantine hotel) There were enough amenities (coffee, tea, milk, dishwashing liquid, detergents etc.) and when I needed anything the reception were quick to bring it up to the room or help. Food was made by the in house chefs and was great. The staff made an effort to have interactive yoga, music and bingo sessions with the guests. Staff were very friendly and tried to make the stay as pleasant as possible.
I have spent 14 days in this hotel- mandatory travel quarantine. Their team followed all the COVID protocols to a T! The hotel team (front desk, room service, food and beverage, housekeeping), nurses, SA police did a fabulous job in making our stay comfortable, healthy and safe. The management from the day we got off the bus to providing every little details prior to the checkout has been outstanding. Their hospitality is phenomenal. They went above and beyond to ensure that all our requests and requirements are taken care of. I would love to visit this hotel again post-COVID. Highly recommend this place to others.
I spent 15 days on a quarancation at The Playford Hotel, and while it most definitely isn’t business as usual, you can tell that at its core, this is a special hotel. Hotel General Manager Maurits de Graeff leads his team with love. You can tell initially just by his demeanour and welcome (and he personally welcomes each bus load of arrivals), and later you see it reflected in every aspect of the hotel’s management. The core team at the hotel clearly work cohesively together and are all kind and generous while applying themselves to deliver a high standard of service in any manner in which they are asked to do so. The room I’ve had the luck to stay in for two weeks is well appointed and of high quality - from the sheets to the furniture to the massive tv, the bathroom, and the thoughtfully placed crockery and glassware. I haven’t wanted for anything. When I asked to upgrade my wifi because I wasn’t getting enough bandwidth for numerous conference calls, they did so graciously and without charge in the end. I also inconveniently asked to leave at 4am and that has also been facilitated graciously. Their food...! Even under quarantine conditions where I’m sure their budget is quite restricted, we’ve been offered delicious fresh food every day. The carefully planned menu is healthy and balanced, and service and kitchen teams go out of their way to make sure your dietary needs are met. The extraneous staff - police men/women and nurses - have been super courteous and kind as well. If you have to be in quarantine in Australia, Adelaide and The Playford Hotel is a wonderful entry point. I’m seriously impressed with this hotel and would definitely return when life resumes a semblance of normality. I encourage you too to be a guest. …
Thank you so much to the Hotel Staff, Nurses and State Police for contributing to an incredible 2 week, quarantine experience in Room 416. You all had roles to play and you all excelled with professionalism, kindness and adherence to the covid 19 protocols. Much thought had been given and action taken towards my physical, emotional and psychological well-being during this time. I literally sailed through the time enjoying free WiFi movies books puzzles and tourist information. Even though I could tap into the Playford hotel FB activities I had other interests to keep my spirits up. So as I was not allowed out and no one was allowed in my room I managed to keep fit by walking 11 - 12 kilometres a day as well as doing my own dusting, vacuuming, bed making and general tidying. It was wonderful having 3 meals a day bought to the door always a pleasant surprise inside. Thank you once again my experience was truly memorable.…
