We spent 4 nights at hotel grand chancellor during our Christmas break and can say that we enjoyed our stay. For us it ticked in all major categories, be it quality of room, service, pool cleanliness and other amenities.

The room was well laid out with comfy bed and pillows to choose from wide options. It had all basic amenities like coffee machine, tea making stuff and well equipped bar fridge. We found that cost of items in bar fridge was okay (little bit higher) but when you are tired and you don't want to go out to get a bottle of beer or wine its all worth it.

My kid like the pool and spa too much. Good thing was that pool was open till late 10 PM and you can order drinks right from the pool area.

Room service was prompt and with no fuss. On all four nights we ordered plates and cutlery and we got them without having to wait.

Couple of things which we felt needed attention:
1. Parking fee which is $18/day. Considering its a full service hotel, they could do away with the fee or make it around 10$ so that it doesn't feel too much.

2. Staff who do room making need to be little bit more aware of the things that need cleaning or changing. We could still see crumbs on the carpet after the room is made up. Also, when they replenish the toiletries they need to be mind full of what need to be replenished and what is already present in abundance.

PS: Don't get worry of the rowdy homeless guys on the street. I felt if you are not venturing out alone in night that shouldn't be a problem.

I’ve stayed here on numerous occasions and I’ve always loved the location & facilities. This time I upgraded to a Executive King Plus to spoil myself, which unfortunately does now require some further comment.

I had imagined that the Executive King Plus rooms would have been nicer & more updated that’s other rooms we have stayed in. The furniture and (bath) were possibly even older and more chipped than other rooms I’ve stayed in the past.

Only supplying 2 coffee pods per day for the advertised coffee machine addition is very stingy in my book.

Finally, on every other occasion I’ve stayed here I have, ‘maybe just by luck?’ have been in rooms that have been very quiet. This stay I was on the 12th floor facing Hindley Street and on the Thursday night was quite noisy, but on the a Friday Night it was off the charts noisy. I needed to call reception to see if I could get ear plugs (which they happily provided). The screaming, yelling, sirens must have eventually subsided in the early hours, but at 7:30am the street cleaners started up with blower vacs.

As this stay was supposed to be a rest & relaxation treat, the noise issue was the most disappointing.

However, I still really like this hotel and location, but I am wised up now to:
1). Not pay to upgrade the room needlessly as it wasn’t any ‘better’ and
2). Make sure I am allocated a quiet room facing as far away from Hindley street as possible.

We had room 1020, a corner room with great views from the 10th floor. The room is a good size with a large television, desk, kettle with tea and coffee and milk in the fridge. The bathroom is huge, rain shower, separate bath and nice toiletries. The curtains make the room nice and dark, and it was quiet so we had a great night's sleep. And clean!
We arrived early, approximately 10.30am, to drop off our bags but our room was already available for us so that was a great plus. The other two couples travelling with us also had access to their rooms early. The staff on the front desk were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast is usually $25 but they had a special going, so a full breakfast was only $17.50 and it was good with a wide range of food and drink options.
The hotel has a happy hour from 4pm to 7pm, with $5 drinks and $12 large pizzas. It was great! So the six of us had a great night in this hotel, and I highly recommend it.

What a great hotel! Set back off Hindley Street this hidden gem of a hotel has a great central location and is presented very well. The staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble, and the packages they offer present real value for money! Even if you're not staying the night, Sebastyan's Happy Hour rivals any other I know in the city - $5 spirits, house wines & beer or $12 cocktails and Bistro Sixty5 has plenty of great meal specials to choose from. Do yourself a favour and pop in the next time you are in the City, you won't be disappointed!

The hotel is in a pretty convenient location. I got a room on the 6th floor. Everything in it was fairly dated: the lamps, curtains, wardrobe, TV and everything was all kind of tired. The bathroom was huge, and this hotel has Ideology brand bathroom products, which is a sign that management is doing what it can.

The other thing that this hotel loses points for is the hotel noise. It's a pretty quiet floor on level 6 at least, but through the night I was woken a few times because the doors aren't really soundproof at all, with a gap between the bottom of the door and the floor. No one was especially loud, but the sound of just normal voices and the lifts opening and closing carried into the room.

All in all, it was pretty good value for money: it cost about $150 for a night on the weekend night I stayed which was as good as it got that night in Adelaide.

We arrived at the Grand Chanellory Adelaide with our document showing we had car parking included in the pre-paid fee. They told us parking was $18pn. I showed the document and they said that's wrong you have to pay. I asked to see the manager who came out and said he would call the booking agent and if they would not cover the cost I would be charged. This is regardless of the document stating it is included. I do not see this as fair and reasonable especially when there is proof. Separaletly they have electronic keys to rooms that fail in the lift and for entry.

I was bit skeptical when I booked this hotel for 1 night but I was pleasantly surprised by the standards. Check-in and check-out was easy and fast.

We stayed in the 5th floor. It looked like thee place was recently refurbished. The rooms looked brand new and clean. Room and bathroom were spacious.

We parked at the hotel. It costs $18 per day with unlimited exits which really helped us to go explore the surrounding suburbs.

Lot of restaurants, bars and pubs around. Conveniently located. I didn't have any noise problems.

I would definitely stay here again.

I booked in the special city escape deal for $99 per room per night with car parking. We booked 2 interconnecting rooms as we have 3 kids so needed the extra room.

On first impressions, the hotel looked clean and tidy. Checkin staff were lovely.

We went out for dinner and when we came back our room was still hot and stuffy at 23c. Even though we had the cooler on at 18c to try and cool the room down. Reception sent up the manager around 630pm and she checked and agreed that the cooler wasn't working well either. Within 30mins we were moved from the 2nd floor to the 5th floor to a much cooler room. Situation dealt with promptly. For a busy Saturday night we still managed to get interconnecting rooms too.

Unfortunately, the downside to this stay was the noise. We were at the back of the hotel, not facing Hindley st. I know the glass windows are somewhat soundproof but the music from the live band in the venue next door was penetrating through our room. The band kicked off at 10pm and didn't finish until 1230am. My 8yr old son slept through the noise and my daughters (4,10) didn't get to sleep until 11pm because of the noise. The alarm next to the bed in the kids room went off at around 1205am and woke my son up in a fright. So sleepwise we are all a little exhausted today.

The heated outdoor pool at 27c was a highlight for the kids. The spa was also lovely. They loved ordering room service and the food was good too.

Checkout at 11am was smooth and easy.

I am not sure if i would stay again on a weekend with the family, however would recommend it for a midweek business traveller as the location is excellent.

Overall the staff were warm and accommodating and the amenities were good.

There were no walk-in showers. Showers in the bath are difficult and dangerous for older guests. Daily room housekeeping was not provided on stays under 3 days. Stays over 3 days it was not provided unless you requested it. We expected daily room housekeeping when paying hotel rates. If it is not to be provided the room rate should be discounted. Over the phone the Reception and Room service staff had difficulties understanding our requests. Service requests were often incomplete requiring them to return. The Buffet breakfast at a cost of $25 was not worth it - food stations were constantly empty and we were continually requesting more food be provided and it the food very average. The coffee machine was malfunctioning constantly, it was continually in cleaning mode and spat boiling water and steam out - but it was undrinkable when we were able to get it to work.

The Grand Chancellor hotel Adelaide does not care about providing quality customer service. Quality customer service starts from the very top being the General Manager of the hotel.

When booking the accommodation we did not even receive a booking confirmation email. We ended up having to ringing the actual hotel to confirm our booking. Very poor service.

Front of house staff at reception very friendly and very apologetic about our negative experience.

The main restaurant was shut for the total duration of our visit.

Breakfast within the hotel was very average for the price charged.

The room service were ordered on our last night was good and staff very friendly and efficient.

Pool /spa was excellent.... pity that's where it ends.

No response from Hotel Management as I requested regarding the extremely poor quality room given to us on check in and with human hair (one looked like pubic hair) found in 3 different locations, one on wall under light switch in bathroom, one on corner of bath, one on rear area of toilet. I have taken photos and the Assistant duty manager from reception viewed the room and also took photos before moving us to a different room.

To be a given a "drink" voucher as an apology then be charged the full amount for the room for the 3 nights stayed is very poor practice.

I was assured that I would be contacted for a response. To date I still have no response. On the 05/01/2020 I again requested written follow up response regarding our complaint (This as after we were back home in Victoria).
Two weeks later still no response from Hotel Management or General Manager of the hotel todays date is Sat 18/01/2020.

All in all extremely poor service and would not recommend this Hotel

There is self Parking in the basement of the hotel and if this is full, there is an overflow public carpark next door so you are always able to get parking. If you have to park in the public overflow park, just take the ticket to reception so they can validate it for you. Carpark entry is via Clubhouse Lane and the hotel can email you a map and details. Enjoy your stay! :)
