A traditional Inter Continental to a T even down to the cupboards in the wardrobe. A very clean spacious and functional hotel room that overlooks the river. The Adelaide rail station is next door so it is easy to get around however note to self The Ghan does not leave from this station, it leaves from Parklands 3.3ks down the road. The room service menu is light on but adequate, prices are as you would except form Inter Continental. Swimming pool is lovely and warm and is open 24/7. Lovely hotel

We had the wonderful experience staying at the InterContinental in Adelaide for 5 wonderful days. From the time we checked in with Kevin at the front desk, to the house keeping staff and Julie at the concierge desk, the staff were all about customer service. They were wonderful...nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this property for your stay in Adelaide.

Stayed or 4 nights over Anzac day long weekend, bad start when getting down from the uber completely ignored by the 2-3 intercontinental workers no offer of assistance with baggage or even a simple greeting. This would be the tune for the whole stay, entered and exited the hotel many times, most of the time no one was in the lobby, or if they were they kept their heads down. The room was well past its prime, mold in the grout in the shower, toilet button kept getting stuck when flushing. Giving 2 out of 5 instead of 1 for 2 reasons; the housekeeping lady was very friendly, I asked for English breakfast teas bags which they didn't have but she ran to get some jasmine and when I asked to speak to the GM on Monday morning to bring this to his attention and voice our concerns about the lack of service, Ajit the DM, kindly offered a bottle of wine and cheese platter, which were great but couldn't alleviate the poor quality of this hotel.

PROS - Great location, next to the Adelaide Railway and lots of shops/restaurants - Lifts were fast. Rarely had to wait. - Housekeeping thoroughly cleaned my room each time - thank you very much. CONS - Wifi was painfully slow. I was here for work and couldn’t connect to Zoom meetings as the connection was too slow and would drop out. I tried connecting in the lobby and the staff member at front desk conceded there was no signal whatsoever in any area of the lobby. No business centre exists in the hotel either. So I’d warn against staying here if a decent internet connection is required - As others have said, the hotel is dated. Which means on one hand, it has character. But my room was literally falling apart. See photo of the minibar drawer. Fridge wasn’t cooling so my food went off. Painting peeling everywhere and mysterious stains on the couch cushion... - Noisy. Even located 18 floors up, I have loud music and bass very audibly coming from the adjacent casino / nightclub? It’s 2am. All I can hear is yelling, music and a doof doof. Hotel needs to invest in double glazing. - Service was awful. I was ignored by the bell team on the driveway on arrival despite struggling with multiple bags. Enter the lobby, two suited staff members are right inside the entrance but no acknowledgement or smile as they observe me. At front desk, I was met with no smile. The receptionist acknowledged it was my first stay and thanked me for being a IHG member, but despite knowing it was my first stay, offered no introduction to the hotel - eg, what facilities are available and during what hours. - The hotel seems to proudly promote its IHG Clean commitment to prevent the duress of germs. As an example, the hotel front desk has plastic barrier screens between receptionists and guests. But when trying to troubleshoot the non existent wifi in the lobby, the staff member came around the desk, standing right next to me and was offering to type a code on my laptop herself. Whilst well intentioned, this means no social distancing and unnecessary contact. Which contradicts their IHG Clean Promise. I observed several times throughout my study, staff members not following the Covid safe protocols on this Promise. So what’s the point of making a baseless commitment?! - There is a pillow menu provided in the room, which seems impressive, but when I requested one of the pillows with a staff members, I was told to use the spare (regular) pillows in the closet instead. - Tea & coffee were not replenished after the 1st day. Attention to detail in this regard was lacking. - Not all power outlets work. And no power outlets anywhere near the bed (working or not) to charge your phone. - Most concerning, my in-room landline phone was dead. I tried calling “Instant Service” to no avail. Concierge didn’t work either. Nor the emergency button. I reported this to the front desk in-person that afternoon and was told to make do and he’d try and get someone to look into it the following day. Phone was fixed the following day but all of my attempted calls to “Instant Service” went unanswered anyway so I guess no real point in having the phone fixed if no one picks up from the hotel’s end. What’s the point of the hotel having an Emergency button on the phone if (1) the phone doesn’t work and (2) when it does work, no one from the hotel’s end picks up? In summary, I’d recommend against this hotel if a quiet room (noise was awful even 18 floors up), internet connection and decent customer service are important to your decision making. I found this hotel incredibly disappointing and much more suited in terms of product & service to a Holiday Inn than an IC. I hope the management team read this review and consider investing in staff customer service training and a refurbishment of the physical property. Please start with upgrading the wifi network and doing something about the 2am club music pumping into guest rooms.

Had another great stay at the Interconn. Always welcoming staff and rrstaurant services. Rooms are large, most with great views. Recommend updating the TVs as they are old and comberson. The location is perfect, next to the casino and convention centres and hospital. Rundle Mall is a stroll away as are the night ubs if Hindley St. Caution at night as there are some suspect characthers near Hindley St and the railway station
