A helpful receptionist greeted us with a warm and confident 'G'Day!' from the time we stepped inside the door to this little hotel in the outer rim of the heart of the city of Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. Once we cleared all the paperwork, the clerk behind the desk pointed us to the right direction to the nearest tram stop, which was barely a stone's throw away. But these niceness didn't help much to boost the rating of this hotel up. Because the room itself, even though it was nice with some complimentary snacks and drinks, it was very dark with very few lighting options available and the cleanliness of the carpet can be discussed in a shorter podcast. The Wifi speed is fast enough to download/upload some full-length flicks and the walking distance to the tram stop near the hospital is a plus. But other than than, we didn't feel that this stay was worth the money paid and we believe that some of the inventories is in an urgent need for TLC.

Room was huge but sadly was very outdated and had a musty smell to it. The spa bath had duck tape holding the outer plastic on. Wasn’t the cleanest. Over priced for what you are paying for but is a very convenient location. Staff on arrival was lovely, staff on departure were very rude. Parking was easy

Good location near to the tram stop with a pretty big (about 20 square m including bath) and clean, though dated (mid 1990's looking) room. Bed was comfortable. En-suite bathroom with adequate facilities and hot water in the shower was perfect. Reception staff were friendly, however please note that besides Friday and Saturday night reception only opens from 6:30am - 11:30pm. Coffee and tea in room and even some shortbread biscuits was a nice touch. Decent sized, if slightly noisy fridge. Price is very reasonable at about $80 per night.
Room I stayed in was an inside room which had a window but functionally it was like a skylight and there was little natural light. Also the soundproofing of the rooms wasn't great could quite easily hear the next door rooms tv, conversation and even hear people washing their hands lol.
Overall though at this price I can't really complain, it is clean, with a decent sized room so is good value for money and excellent if you can ask for an outside facing room at this price. Would be especially convenient for people visiting Royal Adelaide Hospital which is literally across the road, or visiting the Uni of SA - West Campus or Uni of Adelaide which are very close as well.

Queen Excutive Spa. Friendly and informative staff. Spacious, clean. Very comfortable bed. The room had a kettle, fridge, cups, and dinning table. We bought fresh produce from the Adelaide Central markets and ate most meals in our room. Washing Machine $1 × 3, laundry powder dispenser $1, dryer $1 × 3. On each floor. Well located between two Free tram stops. Easy walk to restaurants. Close to all the attractions via the Tram. Highly recommend this hotel due to ( in no order) the amenities, location, room and staff.

THE GOOD: It’s in an easy to find and convenient location. The room itself was very large and spacious. We arrived around 10:30am (much earlier than check in) and were only going to ask the reception staff member to hold our bags for us so we could explore Adelaide and we’d come back to check in later, but they were very accommodating and gave us a room right away.
THE BAD: The fridge wasn’t even slightly cold. The air conditioning was very dated, dirty and weak. The lighting in the room is also very dated and hardly lit up the room. The bathroom is very dated and grimy. The pillows on the bed were very flat and old and the bedding/sheets weren’t of any quality.
THE UGLY: Overall the room had a grimy/unclean feel. The tap handles in the bathroom left a disgusting smell on our hands. We would literally wash our hands and then turn the tap off and there was a gross smell on our hands. We had to use a small face towel to turn the taps on and off to avoid getting the smell on our hands. There was blood on the inside of the lampshade and it wasn’t a nice sight to see as I reached over to turn off the lamp to go to sleep. There was zero natural light coming into the room, it was so depressing. And the view from the window was into a really drab concrete area with some sad plants and into the windows of other rooms guests were staying in.
I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again and I wouldn’t recommend it to my friends and family.

You can't pre pay on booking.com, thenThe hotel don't allow you to pay by credit card over the phone.
The hotel doenst allow you to do a credit card authorisation form.
How are you supposed to pay for someone elses hotel room?
Kayla, who has worked there for years, was rude, unhelpful and arrogant about this issue. She told me i wouldnt get another hotel in Adelaide tonight which is a lie.
I booked the hotel Grande Chancellor for $20 cheaper per night and they said payment was fine by Authority form.
Hopefully i can get a refund.

Response from Lee Burns, General Manager at Adelaide Riviera Hotel
Responded 23 Oct 2022
Hi Hugh, Thanks for your review. The terms and conditions of your booking read "No prepayment possible - you'll pay when you stay". I can only assume that you didn't read or understand the terms and conditions of your reservation and I'm sorry you thought Kaela was rude when she was explaining this to you. I'm glad to hear that your guest found alternate accommodation. As your guest did not stay and we did not take payment from you, there is no refund to process. Regards

Staying one night at this Hotel was outstanding. The young lady at Reception at 11-30 am on Thursday 22nd of February 2024 was just excellent and looked after us with our booking in. She was so helpful and knowledgeable. On entry to our room we were surprised at the size and layout of the room and bathroom. The whole room was spotlessly clean with everything in place. The fridge was packed with alcoholic and soft drinks, but was lacking the presence of Ice. The Bathroom had all the bits and pieces one needed and the bed was just amazing to sleep in…Very Comfortable and a good night’s sleep was had. Yes we will return!

Room was neat but does not seem to be sanitized. We wiped off all surfaces with disinfectant (as we usually do at any hotel since Covid) and the wipes turned gray/brown.
Carpets are dirty.
Shower vibrates loudly every time
Staff uses the same bath towels to clean the toilet surfaces
No landline phone on the room. Nobody bothered to check. I was arguing with Uber eats for a delivery that was I thought was not delivered. Apparently it was sent to reception, and reception was calling us on the non existent landline on the room. 😜
Reception and some staff were friendly. One Filipina housekeeper (older) was arrogant when asked for toiletries.
Easy check in and checkout.

For the price this is very good value for money. A little dated, however everything is spotlessly clean and in great working order. Reception very friendly and efficient. Check in quick. Two lifts. Large room when we ordered a queen. Queen bed and a single. Wardrobe, small table and chairs. Tea and coffee and fully stocked fridge, charges apply however reasonable price ie $3 coke. Shower gel, shampoo and body wash supplied. Aircon worked well. Beds comfortable. Small swap book library in foyer. Direct tram across road, to Adelaide Entertainment centre or 3 min into city centre, Rundle mall. Lovely breakfast Cafe Peter Rabbit close by. Pub around corner.

Hi Jasmine
There isn't any long term free parking at this Hotel. We paid $18 for parking in a secure parking place (outdoors and not under cover) for one night. Our room was just a standard room and didn't have a dishwasher, washing machine or dryer. Hope this helps :)
For the best experience, you can cross to the other side of North Terrace and walk underneath the Railway Station. When you come out on the riverside of the train station you will be at the base of the new footbridge. It's probably the fastest route with the best interaction with other fans along the way and best atmosphere.
There are more places to choose from in the Adelaide area.
