Sofitel Adelaide stands out for its sophisticated ambiance and elegant decor, though it's worth noting that some guests have reported disruptions from nearby loud music. The hotel's service has earned rave reviews for its professionalism and efficiency, complementing the luxurious amenities, including a chandelier-lit pool and a well-equipped gym.
While the rooms are lauded for their spaciousness and modern touches, a few travelers mention noise issues. Cleanliness is consistently praised, yet opinions on value vary, with some guests finding the pricing steep despite occasional perks like room upgrades.

Detailed Reviews
The location is good for shopping and bars/clubs and 10 Min walk to Rundle Mall. On arrival there is no signage to access valet area which leaves you to park on Currie St to unload. Again nothing to advise you where the reception desk is until you walk passed bar, cafe area which is quite dark and not very inviting as is the reception, as long term Accor Plus members there was no upgrade offered but staff were very helpful. We found this Sofitel a little underwhelming and to be honest it could of been any mid range new hotel in Adelaide. The rooms are a good size but notice some fittings and furniture already had permanent marks and not a quality finish, the table in our room had cup rings and scraps which made it look unclean as did the coffee machine bench and the vanity top in bath area. I think the fridge or more aptly a cupboard to keep your drinks in was warm on arrival and didn't do a thing "pointless" put a proper fridge in. It's the small things that can make the difference to luxury hotels but not pump bottles of shampoo and body wash in the shower that's motel quality and stupid things like the toilet roll holder wouldn't hold a full toilet roll it sat on the side! Where is the luxury personal items, nothing made your stay welcoming or personalised although there was a kettle you only have 2 tea bags and a very small very warm long life milk. I know this is being picky but when this is offered in many other cheaper hotels this was pretty disappointing certainly nothing like other Sofitels in other cities. The saving grace here was the restaurant which we dined in for dinner and breakfast, top class food and service and worth every cent and the breakfast is fresh and extensive and again excellent quality for the price and stand out staff. We enjoyed our stay but there is certainly a number of things need to improve to lift this hotel up to a true luxury hotel which Sofitel is known for especially when you are paying premium prices and as this isn't the first Sofitel they should of had all the bugs ironed out pre opening, Sorry but I've worked in that industry for a long time and they missed the mark here.

Bonjour We are delighted you enjoyed the restaurant, Garcon Bleu is indeed a beautiful addition to Adelaide and we will pass on your feedback to the Chef and team. Thank you for dining for both breakfast and dinner. We are also pleased that you found our staff helpful. Upgrades are indeed offered to Accor Plus members if a higher room type is available, we are finding that many of our guests are booking higher room types, so to guarantee this at the current time it is best to book the room you are wanting, to avoid disappointment. Once we have established your booking we will make contact regarding the rest. Much of which is as you say opening issues. Having worked in the industry we thank you for your understanding, of the natural soft opening phase of a hotel. Yes you are right the sense of arrival when you enter through Burnett Street to the Port Cochere is the correct entry, accessible both by vehicle and pedestrian, and a beautiful experience, we have a sign at the Currie Street pedestrian door entry way, and we are looking into further signage that you can see as your are driving. We have had an occasional guest who like yourself arrives through the main street entry to the Bar, which makes it more difficult with luggage, as our Valet is at the northern side of the hotel. We do communicate this in our guest communication when booked direct, so will look at the wording and see how we can make this clearer, we are also looking into how third parties communicate to our guests. I'm so sorry that this didn't put your stay off to a good start. In addition yes the marble (which is a natural stone) is staining on some of the surfaces in some of the guest rooms particularly with coffee cups, when coasters are not used, so while it is clean it does mark. We are in the midst of etching and re coating all of the marble throughout the Sofitel's 251 rooms, so sorry that yours hadn't been reached yet. With some of the bar fridges we have found some faults and thank you for reporting yours, we are in the midst of changing the doors on those that are not regulating temperature effectively which has proven a successful result. We have opened as a soft launch, and the above issues have only been discovered as guests use the rooms, some not possible to uncover in pre-opening, so while we appreciate all of the feedback we do hope that we see you in the future, as we move into full opening mode.. It was a conscious decision to use the Full Sized Bottles of Balmain Paris luxury bathroom products which we are receiving comments of the high quality of the product, For sustainability reasons and no other these were selected. The tiny bottles you get in many hotels and motels adds so much plastic to the environment and any responsible new hotels are not going down this path, unless the material used for packaging is changed. As far as the other luxury amenities, we do hold them at Reception and deliver them to the rooms on request, that information is in our Intelity Tablets however we will look at making that clearer. We find that many guests don't require additional items such as DentaKits, Combs etc as they bring their own, so we keep a stock for when guests do forget, once again for good sustainability practice. Once we establish your booking, and the room you stayed in we will look into your comment re the toilet roll holder, thank you for raising it. We will also look into the number of teabags as there are usually 2 of an array of tea choices. We appreciate all guests feedback these are the lesson books from which we learn. Merci

Looks the part
The good
Very comfortable, modern and stylish. It looks the part and is impressive. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and modern with plenty of power points and the views on the upper floors are really eye catching.
Most of the staff are attentive and responsive. The staff in the resturant and in the club go out if their way to serve you and make sure you have everything you need.
The beds are very comfortable.
Teething issues
The fridge in the room was not cold nor were any of the mini bar items. The air con doesn’t perform so well. We were in a suite. The lounge was cool but the bedroom was warm.
The only amenities in the bathrooms were shoe shine, a sewing kit and the shower cap and sanitary bags. Usually there are toothbrushes, combs etc in the suites.
The valet was like the keystone cops. They were not at the desk, you had to find them. If the brought your car around they didn’t enter the valet lounge to advise you it was available and on one occasion they brought around someone else’s car. Shout out to rm 2209, nice car 😉
Housekeeping
Housekeeping arrived relatively early and we were not ready to leave the room so we illuminated the do not disturb. We left 5 mins later and illuminated the make up the room light. We returned later that day and the room had not been serviced. This is unusual for a 5 star hotel. Housekeeping usually make a sweep back to pick up the rooms they hadn’t accessed.
Just plain poor
The only disappointing experience we had which I would say was just poor performance was the bar at the front of the hotel. We were given drink vouchers which we didn’t end up using because we could not get served. In fact we didn’t even get acknowledged by the guy operating the bar. It’s not a big space. It’s at the front of the hotel. There was one patron there when we arrived.
We sat and waited patiently. The staff member was deep in discussion with the other patron when we arrived. After 5 minutes he returned to his POS and appeared to be programming it because it was 15 minutes before we decided 20 mins was long enough to be left sitting waiting so we left. He didn’t notice us leave either.

Overall was disappointed with this Sofitel. Have stayed at other Sofitel and Luxury hotels and this one was very much lacking.
On arrival, nobody was there to greet us, there are two entrances to the hotel, the one on Currie Street and the other via the lanes. We took our bags to the check-in desk, we had to wait for some staff to finish their discussions before they decided to serve us. We gave our details and were given room keys. No offer to help with bags, no welcome drink, no instructions on how to use the lifts. No information provided about the hotel. One evening we went and asked for an umbrella at reception, sorry we don’t have any was the response.
The room was 2101, the room was very nice and the view fantastic. We were staying five nights and they did provide a nice note to welcome us for our anniversary. The room, as you can see from the photos was eclectic, I think because of the corner room they were unable to mount the TV and they quickly found a credenza to put the TV on, it really didn’t match anything. My other two gripes with the room are: 1) the vanity has a bar at the bottom of it, this is a constant source of pain when you hit your toes against it every time you use the sink. 2) the curtains, while great at blocking out light there was a table and chandelier that you must climb around to be able to close/open the curtains.
The day we arrived we saw the staff cleaning a room in the hall, a manager came along and was talking with them, one indicated they were feeling sick with a headache and sore throat. They all kept working, we therefore put the Do Not Disturb on for our entire stay, we didn’t want sick staff entering our room. I was surprised that for that length of stay nobody contacted us to check everything was ok. What we did notice was the amount of dust in the room, it was thick when we left. Makes me wonder how safe the air is with all that dust travelling through the air conditioning.
Now the noise. Most nights it was quiet all you could hear were vehicles and the buses driving around. Come to the weekend, you have the nightclubs with the base booming through the night. Then Sunday morning you have a church start up early in the morning with drums playing. I would not recommend staying at this hotel on a Friday or Saturday night.
My only other issue was the hotel should take some pride in their surroundings and keep the area clean. On Saturday night someone vomited outside the entry in the lane this was not cleaned up the entire length of our stay.
The pool area is very small, only a few seats, was overrun on the weekend with Children. Gym area was good.

Bonjour TSW, Thank you for providing us with feedback from your recent stay. I am disappointed that we did not meet the luxury expectations you would have had prior to your arrival. I have sent you an email to establish a direct line with you. Giving us such clear an detailed feedback, give us an opportunity to review and improve. Some of the issues we have limited or no control over, however with others, particularly the service related items we can share with our teams, look at who interacted with you when and action accordingly. We would love the opportunity to welcome you back to the hotel and hope we can be given this opportunity on your next visit to Adelaide. Merci, Tom Christiansen Director of Rooms

I've never been as impressed with a hotel as I am with the Sofitel Adelaide. The design, the layout, the facilities and the staff- everything was perfection from check in to check out. Walking through the doors I was greeted with an enthusiastic "Bonjour" from the gentleman behind the lobby bar, and then again another enthusiastic "Bonjour" from Stacey at the front desk. Stacey is an absolute asset to the desk team- so warm, friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The room was so well thought out in its design- think accessible power outlets next to the bed on both sides, gorgeous marble bathroom, electric blinds, in room control panels for the features of the rooms, and a day bed that spanned the entire length of the windows which was comfortable to sit and stare at the city below. The pool area is stunning, and they have a sauna in the change rooms, which is extremely relaxing. The service at Deja Vu was impeccable, and the area is so well decorated and relaxing to unwind in. The restaurant, Garcon Bleu, offers an a la carte menu of French fine dining using produce from within 100km, and while the prices of some dishes may seem high, the portion sizes are quite decent and quality of the dishes is top notch. Damien who greeted us and checked on us throughout the dinner was an incredible member of the team and his service really set the standard for the dinner. Congratulations to the entire Sofitel Adelaide team on what you have here, it's certainly very special and I will be back.

Our stay didn't start off well. I had booked the Sofitel weeks prior to our stay and through the Accor website as I am a member. It was a bit tricky finding the car entrance if you are driving. However, we were greeted by a very friendly valet and as there isn't on -site parking we chose the $60 a day Valet parking. We were fortunate that our room was ready quite early, however when we saw our room, we were disappointed. It was on a lower floor and overlooked the dingy roofs of nearby buildings. What we didn't expect was to be given a room with a connecting door to the room next door and our neighbours were shouting and making a noise. I asked for a room change as I felt this is not acceptable for a 5 Star Hotel. I cannot fault the service at any time during our stay. The man on the front desk was wonderful and even though it was busy as it was the Anzac long weekend, he managed to have us moved to another room on a higher floor with an amazing view of Glenelg. The rooms are lovely, very spacious and comfortable. Once again the two porters were terrific in helping us with our luggage. At about 9 pm we started hearing VERY loud music from a venue below (the Hotel is just off Rundle Street and adjacent to the side streets that have music venues and restaurants) as well as people shouting and singing and this did not stop until after 3 am. It was unbelievable. We could not sleep. Apparently it is like this every Friday and Saturday night, so I would advise to consider this if you plan to stay the weekend. We were here for 3 nights but it was quiet on Sunday night. The other disappointment was the lack of 'spaces'. The Hotel is on a small block so there is very little space on the ground floor. There is the Reception desk and next to that is a small space with a couple of lounges and low set table. There is a tiny bar with only limited space with a few seats and tables and when we were there the bar closed at 5.30 and that is it, there is nowhere else to go on site. We had dinner in the Restaurant which was lovely and this is where breakfast is served. The breakfast is good but the two out of the three mornings we were there was chaotic. You have to order tea and coffee and there was only one person to fill the orders. Needless to say one morning we waited about 45 minutes before we got our order and it was cold. I could go on about the chaos, but I'll put it down to a busy long weekend and a lack of staff. We liked the location, it's an easy walking distance to Rundle Mall and there are some lovely places to eat (eg La Buvette) just a block or two away. Overall, we probably wouldn't stay here again. It just didn't fulfil expectations for a 5 Star Hotel and the hype surrounding it.

Bonjour We are glad you enjoyed the service and that our team were able to assist move you away from your neighbours. Some of our rooms have been experiencing some city sounds since everything has opened up again, in some of the rooms and we are doing some work on that. When our DejaVu Bar closes on occasion early we have our Garcon Bleu bar open. We also have Club Milleseme for guests who stay in Club rooms or suites. We do hope to see you again. Merci

Upon checking in to the Sofitel, we were told that our rate had increased by $180 for the 2 nights. After discussing and showing my confirmation email, the original price was added to the booking.
When entering the room, it was well designed and modern. However, we discovered that the TV did not have chromecast abilities. My partner and I who have stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world, are accustomed to being able to watch Netflix, Disney+. etc in the room. We were extremely disappointed as the description of the room stated that it “boasts the latest smart entertainment system” which we assumed included chromecast.
We went the lobby to ask about the chromecast and we were told that it was unfortunately not working. We understood and asked if there was anything that they could do. The receptionist did not offer anything and did not try to do anything to rectify the issue. We asked to speak to a manager who was the most inept, unqualified, rude person we have ever dealt with. After explaining our issue, and then the manager explaining that chromecast wasn’t working, we were understanding of the situation. Sometimes things don’t work, it’s okay. However, we asked for any compensation as chromecast was an important reason we chose to stay at the hotel. She said we had 2 options, stay or check out. She offered nothing. I replied asking maybe could we have free breakfast or something to accomodate us for the inconvenience. She said she would get back to me.
Later that day, she got back to me and said she can’t give us any compensation or free amenities. As Accor silver members and staying at a brand new 5 star hotel, we were appalled by the customer service. We understand that the chromecast wasn’t working, but the manner in which the situation was dealt with was disgraceful.
Upset and disappointed we immediately checked out and moved to another hotel. The manager couldn’t have been more unhelpful if she tried. We will never stay at another Sofitel again, and be telling this story to our friends and family to warn them of the terrible service at this hotel.
If you want a hotel stay with no chromecast, terrible customer service, no loyalty recognition or compensation, this is the perfect hotel for you.
(Oh also rates are >$400 per night, so you are paying a lot for nothing).

Adelaide finally gets a new hotel with at least a touch of ‘luxury’ about it. The decor and interior decorating of the lobby, restaurant and rooms is pleasing to the eye and gives one the feel of a touch of luxury.
Rooms are well furnished but rather on the small side for a ‘luxury’ hotel but just adequately comfortable. No ‘his-and-hers’ bathroom basins, just the one and only a shower, no bath (at least in the standard twin room we had). The worst part of the room was the stupid modern design of the bathroom basin stand which had a metal bar going straight across at floor level which one stubbed one’s toes on regularly: ouch! (How I wish modern designers would pay heed to tried and true architectural elements such as toe spaces!)
It’s a delight to have a hotel with an indoor pool when the weather in Adelaide is either too hot and sunny or too cold, wet and windy for most of the year. The pool is great if you get it to yourself but gets a little crowded with two or more due to structural pillars jutting into the pool: one would have hoped for a larger pool for a luxury hotel like at Park Hyatt Melbourne. Sofitel Adelaide is also one of the rare hotels in Adelaide to have a sauna but unfortunately no steam room.
Whilst the interior decorating is pleasing, most spaces are a bit pokey and small. The lobby lacks any grandeur of space and the lobby lounge area is a very small pokey area half hidden away in a corner. An exception is the Garcon Bleu restaurant which is a pleasant open French brasserie style restaurant which arguably serves up one of the best hotel breakfasts in Adelaide. The restaurant at other times is however unfortunately overpriced for mediocre food.
Finally, a big word of warning if you want to actually get some sleep on a Friday or Saturday night: get a (more expensive) room in the South-Eastern part of the hotel, or stay elsewhere, to get away from a Rundle Street roof top nightclub that blasts horrendous noise into the wee hours of the morn! Unfortunately this is out of the hotel’s control and the soundproofing is no competition for the volume level (quite unbelievable that Adelaide City Council allows this level of noise disturbance to occur: it’s an absolute disgrace!)

Delighted you liked Garcon Bleu's spaciousness and sorry that you found the noise from neighbouring nightlife disturbing.

As one of the newest hotels in Adelaide, Sofitel is well positioned in the CBD with access to wonderful cool laneway dining in Leigh and Peel Streets.
With a fresh, stylish interior and high end F&B the hotel is set to be a popular choice for those visiting the city or locals wanting a special staycation treat.
The interiors are thoughtful and stylish, the gym is well appointed and the sauna and pool are nice. A Club Suite is a great base for a business trip with a lounge and meeting space seperate from the bedroom. Muted grey, white cornices with stunning black and white photographs punctuate the room interior with a splash of navy blue and black.
Service at the breakfast is top notch, with Toby's Estate coffee. Breakfast is fresh and mixes hot and cold items for choice.
With club access you can have both lunch and afternoon pre dinner drinks and snacks as well as a private breakfast if needed, and the interiors there are particularly nice and well thought out.
Room Service in room stops at 10:30pm - which perhaps could be looked at as travel and business returns to higher levels post the pandemic.

We stayed here as Accor Platinum members so we were upgraded to a Prestige Suite. Beautiful space with lovely big bathroom, comfy lounge with lots of seating, entry hall with second toilet, dressing room and large King bedroom. Lovely views over Adelaide from lounge and bedroom windows. Well sound proofed, so quiet. Easy walk to tram, city centre or river Torrens/Adelaide Oval precinct.
The pool area, sauna and Gym are all lovely too.
We had lunch at Garçon Bleu and though a small fixe prix menu of 2 of 3 courses, with bread and olives and a glass of wine included, we can highly recommend it. Lovely meal, good service and nice views from here too.
The Club room is very spacious but not fully operational yet, so breakfast is served in the restaurant and night time canapés are still a big restricted. But again a gorgeous space to meet and mingle.
We are very impressed and look forward to more visits here in the future.

I stayed here for my birthday in February for 7 nights with my partner Antonio Moral. We are Accor plus members and used our suite night upgrades for our stay and what a great decision.
The Sofitel Adelaide hotel is absolutely stunning, and left us speechless and feeling like movie stars. When we arrived, guest services made mention of how they had been anticipating our arrival. Dragos (Guest Service Manager) was fantastic and provided a tour before taking us up to the 23rd floor to our suite.
My oh my!!! The suite was so beautiful. Corner room with views towards the sea on one side and the hills on the other. The room style is elegant, spacious and definitely ' joie de vivre' Nothing has been spared in terms of comfort and cost. I love the Bluetooth speaker, wireless phone charger and Dyson hair-dryer. The bathrooms are Italian marble and so huge! Everything is top quality and impeccable.
A short time after checking in we were welcomed into the Club Millėsime. The lovely Hannah is superb. Warm, friendly, down to earth yet totally professional and dedicated to guests. Afternoon tea is served from 3pm and canapés from 5. The offerings are brought to the table. Breakfast is served in the restaurant Garcon Bleu and is a la carte with a small buffet.
The restaurant is so visually stunning and we enjoyed an exquisite dinner there. All the staff greeted us with a lovely Bonsoir as we entered. We had the Crab bisque, lamb and beef cheeks. Dessert was a highlight with the Paris Brest; choux pastry with peaches, caramel and a yoghurt based creme. The food was beautifully presented and staff were very attentive. The food was very rich and decadent.
Special mention of the pool area, sauna and gym which are all operating. The photos of the pool do not do it justice. Check out the chandeliers and when the sunlight hits the crystal the reflection of light is mesmerising.
Location of the hotel is perfect and a short walk to shops and other attractions.
My birthday was so beautifully acknowledged with handmade chocolates (made on the premises) a bottle of champagne, candle, nuts and sweets.
This hotel is by far the best of the best!! We will be back and urge you to look at coming and staying here as you must be here to really understand the standard and class of this hotel.

Merci thank you for taking the time to review the hotel, we have also seen some changes since your visit so we look forward to welcoming you back. Buffets have returned in Garcon Bleu but you can still have eggs cooked to order, and we are also offering a larger variety for evening canape on our beautiful sharing table. So delighted you enjoyed your birthday and thrilled you chose Sofitel to celebrate it in.
