The Oval Hotel is celebrated for its sophisticated ambiance and modern rooms equipped with advanced touch controls and chic furnishings. Nestled in a prime location near Adelaide's CBD and entertainment options, guests are charmed by the views and the proximity to parklands. While the hotel's amenities and service generally earn high marks for their quality and the staff's attentiveness, opinions on value show a divide, with some guests finding prices reasonable and others pointing out high costs. The hotel is also lauded for its cleanliness and state-of-the-art rooms, despite a few mentions of limited space.

This was about our fifth stay at The Oval Hotel and our second stay specifically in the River Suite - and we’d stay again in a flash.
The hotel does not seem to be aging at all after four years, which is a credit to the styling/decor, the architecture generally but obviously their maintenance routine. And the view from the checkin area does add a LITTLE bit to the whole vibe of the place - it is stunning. It is a true ‘show off’ point for our little ‘town’ of Adelaide that the hotel takes great advantage of, and a real point of difference to other boring hotel foyers.

Many thanks to the hotel for granting our requested early checkin so we could get ready for our Christmas Day lunch outing … and for pouring the welcome glasses of bubbles quite early in the day 😉

The throw rug on the sofa in the River Suite is just gorgeous. Wow - the luxe feel of it is something else! I’d love to know where they bought it from. The suite itself is more than just the rug!!!! The pleasing layout, need-for-nothing provisions/facilities of the room, and of course the view makes it a treat every time.

Now the downside. It doesn’t bring down the rating overall, but it taught us that we won’t bother to include breakfast in our rate again. Our companion (we had another guest with us in a second room) was generally pretty happy with going to breakfast because of the lovely view of the Oval so that was nice for her, but for us there was too much wrong with it. Both of the two coffee orders during the 1+ hours we were there, taken by two separate wait staff, came back with wrong coffees on the tray…..the açai bowl did NOT contain any açai (think it was a chia pudding base????)…. the croissant in the ‘something light menu’ was over-toasted, small and had hardly any cheese/ham content….and if we’d bought the breakfast bun at an individual price of $26 that would have been hugely underwhelming on value. So a fail on breakfast but success on the rest!

Thank you so much Lisa for your thoughtful and detailed feedback! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay in the River Suite once again, and we truly appreciate your kind words about the hotel’s styling, architecture, and, of course, the stunning views from the check-in area. We're delighted that you experienced the vibe of Adelaide from such a unique perspective. We’re also happy that we could accommodate your early check-in and that the welcome bubbles helped set the tone for your Christmas Day outing! Your comments about the throw rug are much appreciated. It's wonderful to know it added a touch of luxury to your experience. Regarding your breakfast experience, we sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered. This is not the standard we aim to provide, and we’ve shared your feedback with our kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure improvements are made. We certainly understand your decision not to include breakfast in future stays, and we are grateful for your constructive comments that will help us refine the service moving forward. We’re grateful for your continued support and hope to welcome you back in the near future. If there’s anything we can do to make your next stay even more memorable, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Kind Regards,

This is the 2nd time my partner and I have stayed at the Oval Hotel and once again it did not disappoint.

The location, attached to the Oval just over the river from the CBD is a perfect location. There is parking underneath the Oval and you are greeted with a welcome drink on arrival. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We were very surprised of how quiet it was. There was bell ringing practice at the Cathedral and we did not hear a thing. We heard no traffic disturbances nor any noise from the event being held on the other side of the river. It must be the quietest hotel in the CBD.

The hotel itself if fairly small, with all the rooms spread over 4 floors. Our room had a view of the parklands and of the cathedral. The other side views are of the river and CBD.
We had a basic room, which was more than adequate. The in-room tablet was very informative and easy to use, controlling the a/c, lights, curtains, plus ordering room service etc as well as being a source of local information.
The bed was quite large and comfortable plus the pillow ordering service (plus the quiet) meant my partner had one of the best nights sleep in a CBD hotel.
I would prefer free bottled water in the room, next time I’ll remember to bring my own. Thought it might be due to an Enviro-friendly stance however the lack of recycling options and choice of single use toiletries did not suggest that. Our room although well equipped did not have an ISDN port which meant working at the hotel was difficult, as most company firewalls stop at hotel wifi logins. With no Business Suite, I would not suggest this hotel was suitable for business travellers which is a shame.

The hotel does not have a gym or pool on site, however you can use the NextGen facilities next door. They don’t tell you this at reception, so just ask.

The Hotel does have a bar and 2 restaurants next to each other overlooking inside at the actual Oval. The view is lovely. You can even sit outside. We only had breakfast at the Bespoke restaurant. Thought the choices of breakfast had dropped a little from our first stay. Overall we found the prices for food and drinks in the whole hotel a little expensive considering the room prices. Over $6 for mini bar water, $13 for a glass of bubbles. Breakfast for two was $76, basically pancakes & toast!

Not sure what the hotel is like when there is an event on. Could be difficult to access, plus probably not as peaceful.

Would we stay again? probably, but for leisure not business and we’ll bring our own water!

Dear jonI9, Thank you for once again choosing to stay with us at Oval Hotel. It is an absolute delight to read your review and hear you speak so fondly of Oval Hotel and all we have to offer. We are certainly proud of our Hotel and the team dedicate themselves to sharing it with our guests for the best experience possible. I can certainly advise that the hotel is still very quiet on an event. There can be some noise of the build up to the event as the atmosphere arises but once the event commences inside the Oval the noise travels upwards and the rooms are just as peaceful! We also ensure all our guests have the valet carparking offering to them for ease of access to the hotel, plus on an event there is exclusive access to the stadium direct from the Hotel which means no line ups. I hope I tempt you to come for a third stay maybe on an event. We certainly appreciate the sentiment you have provided in relation to the value of some food and beverage offerings and these will be addressed accordingly. Many thanks again for you review and supporting Oval Hotel. Mieke and the Oval Hotel team.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. From the moment we entered the room we were in the lap of luxury. Automatic curtains open, soft courtesy lighting slowly illuminates the room. The view of Cathedral spectacular. Ipad controls for everything else. A shower that has either soft or hard rain. The bed was the most comfortable i have ever slept in. The view from the bar over the magnificent oval is breathtaking . So much to do in the city with the casino on your doorstep . MEMORABLE, loved it!

Be very careful when you book a footy package on their website. When I clicked on the footy package page and then chose the date of our stay, the website took me automatically to a 'room only' booking. Not sure why (perhaps the footy packages were sold out at the time). This should be clearly stated on the website, so you don't inadvertently book a room-only night at $450 when you are only really there to see the footy live. There was no indication that I had booked a room only and when we arrived to watch the Showdown game, we were told that we didn't have tickets, the breakfast included in the footy package was not included on our booking. Every time I tried to explain to the reception staff that I was certain I had booked a footy package, they didn't want to know. It was only when I asked for a refund and told them we will go home and watch the footy on TV that a manger arrived and arranged for two staff tickets to the game in an unreserved, nosebleed section instead of the excellent reserved seats the footy package has. I thanked the manager for the staff tickets and asked her to give our complimentary drinks to the staff members who gave them up for us. When we left in the morning, they wanted to charge us for the valet parking that should have been included in the footy package. I was also reminded (made to feel bad) that we had been given staff tickets for the game with no acknowledgment that we offered our free drinks. By this stage I was too exasperated by the continued insistence that I had only booked a 'room only' stay and told the reception staff that I can't keep having the same conversation 12 times. To the manager's and reception staff credit, the breakfast charges and valet parking charge were waived. This was our second stay here and the first was excellent. However, given our experience on the second visit, we will stay somewhere else in town and by general admission tickets and save ourselves $450+.

This hotel adjoins the Adelaide Oval and is a 15 min walk to the CBD over the new bridge. Rooms are nice and modern. Parking costs $350 per week, with valet parking the only viable option although they advertise "parking available". The restaurant is average.. despite numerous empty tables overlooking the oval at 9:30 am none were available due to "getting ready for lunch" or "already reserved" so I had brekky elsewhere. There's much better options with free parking not far away.

I stayed at the Oval Hotel for the weekend for the Crows vs Hawks game. (Go hawks)

My mum and I travelled up from Melbourne for the weekend and I had a very special experience here. All the staff are amazing, The concierge gave us a lovely greeting on our arrival, The check in was efficient and we were given an earlier check in then expected.

The restaurant was absolutely phenomenal, We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night and breakfast both mornings. All the food I had was delicious and I would go back and eat the exact same things in a heartbeat. I also would like to compliment all the food and beverage staff I came into contact with, They all served with a smile and were very efficient and one even remembered my mum and I’s coffee order the next day. It’s something very small but just showed the attention to detail and level of care the Oval hotel staff show.

Overall this hotel was a 5/5 in every single department, I cannot wait to come back to see the Hawks here again next year!

The view from our room each morning was breathtaking, with the sun coming-up over the park and cathedral, it really was a pleasure to open the curtains at the push of a button! Everything was push button, from the electronic tablet that controlled everything and acted as a phone, to the shower in the ensuite bathroom. The hotel is superbly appointed and you can't help but marvel at the Oval itself when taking breakfast or having a glass of wine in the evening. The staff are approachable and helpful, always on hand to offer advice and deliver service with a smile. The location is superb, within a few minutes' walk of the CBD, the Festival Centre, the riverside, shops, restaurants and bars.

We stayed at the Adelaide Oval Hotel on Christmas Day after family celebrations in Adelaide that day. The stay was wonderful - the room was excellent overlooking the parklands facing the Cathedral, complimentary drinks on arrival and the staff were more than welcoming. We also had breakfast in the Bespoke Restaurant prior to checking out - this was a top class stay with a more than moderate pricing including valet parking. We will be staying again at the Adelaide Oval Hotel. Excellent accommodation, pricing and wonderful staff.

We were happy with the accommodation, so clean & modern with comfortable beds. We loved the ‘smart’ rooms self opening curtains on entry plus full control panels at the bedside for a range of lighting and a beautiful rain shower option. All tied up with a view to die for made this the best city stay we’ve ever had.

You can go from the bar/restaurant area straight out to the oval. There are other entrances either side of reception by the lifts direct in to the Oval but they are only open on match days

Parking is not free. Valet parking is $45 a day or you can self-park and pay the carpark rate (not sure what this is, but if you book a park online rather than just rocking up you get around 25% off the price). If there is a game on this weekend you are forced to use the valet parking service unfortunately. Tram stop is about a 5-8 minute walk from the hotel, across the bridge.
