We met here as a group of old friends as it was a central location. As people arrived and our group swelled in size, to about 12, we moved some tables in the outdoor courtyard, to join them together. The staff weren't happy that we had done so, saying that they were the ones to relocate tables and chairs and we only had to ask, but not to do it ourselves. Also to ask, when we wanted the Umbrellas put up in the courtyard, which we did and to which they responded promptly. The group intended to meet for lunch, perhaps at the Metropolitan, but as one person had eaten there previously and described it as 'pretty ordinary' we moved on to an ethnic restaurant a few minutes walk away. Very friendly staff, but dont fiddle with their outdoor furniture! Pretty ordinary. Nothing special.

We were staying at a hotel nearby and ended up visiting here every day we were in Adelaide. The atmosphere is friendly and lively and we had some nice chats with some regulars, the food is quite good, and the staff (bar one) were really great. On our first visit we hoped to try out their margaritas but we’re told they no longer mix cocktails. We must have shown some mild disappointment so the boys behind the bar whipped us up some very nice margaritas. It made us feel welcome and special. The only bartender who did not, the bald guy with the moustache and chip on his shoulder, must have missed the class on how to relate to customers. Being from out of state I commented on how same-sized beer glasses are called different names in different states, to which baldy replied that the conversation was “boring”. So sorry. I didn’t realise he’d rather converse about astrophysics! But other than him, the staff were terrific.

If it was just about hospitality I’d give a 5 but I can’t because although of a good quality the food was pretty basic.

The choices are limited and ordinary. So feeling somewhat disappointed especially as the lunch was supposed to be a treat.
The drinks however were good well presented cold and served with a smile.

The pub is clean but austere and noisy due to wooden furnishings not exactly a buzzy atmosphere; probably due to Corona.
Prices are typical for pub grub.
Service excellent.

The Metro offer pre-orders for dinner and early service when shows are on next door at Her Majesty's Theatre.
Our meals were great pub fare and came out right on time.
The Beer Battered Fish N Chips was an enormous serve, 3 fillets of Coorong Mullet, heaps of fresh salad and lovely chips.
The Haloumi & Mushroom Burger was another good sized offering, tasty and fresh served with plenty of salad and chips.
A really convenient place to eat if you're visiting the Adelaide Central Market or going to a show a few steps away at "Her Maj".

I meet a friend regularly here in the front bar for lunch. We love the atmosphere which still manages to keep the old style feel whilst it is updated. The food is typical pub fare but always excellent quality with schnitzels and burgers being our favs and not over priced like some other CBD establishments.

The owner, Matt, always has a chat and is quick to suggest a good red from his cellar with rest of the staff being very attentive and very friendly.

if your budget is tight the rooms are cheap.
if you are going to be sightseeing a lot and just need a bed to sleep in then maybe ok.
But felt very basic. If they revamped the layout upstairs to provide less rooms - so that every room also had it's own 2021 bathroom would be a great improvement.
It felt like a standard of accommodation that might have been ok in 1940 but not in 2021. Sad that they cannot see the potential in the place.
Maybe bring a couple of hot water bottles because the rooms are chilly.

The meals are always delicious and staff always friendly. The veal schnitzel are the best I have had. Almost as good as schnitzel in Vienna!
Great spot and convenient to theatre. Prices are very reasonable and hotel lovely and clean.
Always love the pub grub.

Great service, excellent menu and a good choice of specials. Nothing too expensive. Lovely bar staff, happy to offer recommendations. Had a lovely meal and drinks. Very busy, even on a Wednesday night. Proves they are doing something right. Happy to recommend.

Spent a few hours here last week, great spot for a drink. Close to the central market. Nice back area and a cute old style front bar. We didn't eat here but the meals looked good. Bar staff were very friendly.

The hotel is on a noisy street and because of the pub downstairs it was really noisy at nights - if you would like a good sleep I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Other than the noise we liked our stay there. The room was ok and clean. The bathrooms were ok too, although you have to share them with other customers.
