Detailed Reviews
We stayed here based on value for money and location to the city centre. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms we stayed in (two separate stays in two different rooms/studios). On our first stay we stayed in a room overlooking the internal courtyard which was really quiet. On our return stay we had a room overlooking the main street and at first thought there would too much street noise we were happy we persisted on staying in this room as it had a sunny aspect and the noise level was just about nil with the window closed (the air-conditioning was quiet and effective). If you want a room with a washer and dryer then request this when booking. The staff at the Breakfree were very friendly and helpful. Their taxi ordering facility was highly efficient (they could even tell us that the cab was just 800mtrs away). The hotel is located at the West Terrace end of town which has one of the Universities, breakfast and lunch cafes across the road and a short walk to the Rosemount pub for great value meals and drinks. Further through the 'red-light' district (only about one block) you reach Rundle Mall - we would stay here again.

Ok so this one is a case of the Good the bad and the ugly.
The good is the bed was awesome no really it was great nice and firm even for someone like me who has a back issue so top marks there. Additionally the pillows on the bed allowed for suitable adjustment to preferance (height & firmness).
Staff were also very engaging and friendly Accore really has done well in this case with continuity of service and customer care let's be clear here 5.0/5 for desk staff.
However the Bad would be while house keeping did tidy my room up and freshen towels and amenities somehow when they made the bed the bottom of my bottom sheet was pulled up exposing the mattress protector which wasn't great but also not the hardest thing in the world. Also the curtains in my room had black marks on them in a stripe pattern about 30cm long, time for a clean.
The ugly: whatever refit was done to this property was not quality refer to photos. Highlights include the cabinetry in wet areas not being sealed properly especially with laminate panel edging this will stink out the rooms eventually with the odres of rotting wheetbix board. That said the room definately do not smell yet. Regardless of if it's an extraction or ventilation
System in the bathroom it's not clean and there was no movement of air I steamed out the whole room everytime I showered.
As a final point of interest Ozyduct conduit for wiring in guest areas while not illegal is tacky and a Hazzard for busy children.
Also Wifi is fee for service and at times barely faster than dialup think 2007 home broadband with your dad on a Skype call brother playing COD sister on my space and now your trying to YouTube.... Not cool
All this aside the price point is passable and all room defects are repairable without a major refurbishment.
I also was woken up at 2 am on the first night (morning) to the sound of two homeless blokes having a go at killing each other outside the lobby door (apparently this is why the front door is not automated rather a card in or buzz in affair)
The appliances worked and I really liked having both a washing machine and dryer in my room which is a huge value add considering laundromat prices.
Pros
Good bed, great guest service staff, washing machine and dryer in room and not fee for service
Cons
Housekeeping rushed, fitout either poorly planned or wearing prematurely, have to pay for internet access and is super slow

From Singapore and arrived at hotel for 10 am. Checking time was 1400 but this 140 room hotel was unable to make ready two rooms(discharge Time is 10). Told room not ready so wandered around in the heat for two hours. Returned at 1200 still not ready but was offered one room at 1330. The decent thing to do was wait until two rooms were available and the management finally used its great expertise and desire to help very tired elderly people into their room a whole 10 minutes early....outstanding!
WiFi free nearly everywhere in adalaide even wandering round the town but not here I’m afraid. Rooms adequate and generally clean but “worn” a bit noisy with comings and goings. Very adjac3nt to strip bars and red light area!
The passageways , lifts etc would benifit from a brush. If the staff spent as much time on this as nicking outside for a smoke it would be gleaming. Ok for youngsters I would suggest

Hi bill d, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the BreakFree Adelaide. I am so sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations on this stay. Whilst we always endeavour to check-in guests arriving into Adelaide on early flights, this is not always operationally possible. As part of our early shift we will go through requests for early arrival to prioritise room cleaning with our Housekeeping Team, unfortunately no such request or information in regards to your flight were made available to us by your travel agent. I understand that we had the first of two rooms available for you at 12 noon and the second at 1.30pm. I thank you for advising me of your concerns, Sincerely, Alison Baker General Manager Breakfree Adelaide

+1
This hotel had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and was a good price however parking was $19 and wifi cost as well (more depending on what package you purchase). Comfortable rooms, close to restaurants, hospital, university and river. Perfect location for NYE festivities!

Perfectly located within walking distance to Royal Adelaide Hospital and shops. Cannot fault the front desk staff very friendly.
Rooms and facilities were clean - bed was extremely comfortable however pillows were hard and lumpy; they need to be replaced

I would give 5 stars for service and location however have opted for a four star review as this is not a 5 star hotel. Rooms are a little dated however very clean. Toilet got stuck when flushing and dryer not really working but otherwise no complaints, aircon in bedroom and lounge room worked excellently.
The standout for our month long stay at Breakfree was the exceptional service from all staff. Reception was manned 24/7 and everyone was lovely. Our car was way too tall to fit into the car park and the manager and another staff member spent an hour assisting us to remove items form the roof racks, deflate tyres and allowed us to enter through the exit so that we could squeeze our car in safely - they even stayed later than their shift times to assist with this.
We had booked in for a one month stay under a long term rate and requested to checkout a couple of days early just to suit us even though the rate we had negotiate had been based on a long term stay - they still accommodated our request and allowed us to check out early.
Wifi was complimentary through All accor program.
Location is a short 15min walk to Rundle Mall and even closer to train/tram stop.
Thank you Breakfreee for our wonderful stay.

We just wanted a room to sleep in as we knew we were going to be out all day and out for dinners etc. It worked out perfect for this and for the price it was great!
We were two couples and the basic two bedroom was probably just enough space but if you aren’t that comfortable together you may want to get the “premium” two bedroom.
We loved the location as it was very close for all our tours and activities but if you want peace and quiet you won’t get it here! The street itself has some unsavoury characters but we noticed they had security on at night so felt pretty safe overall!

Have stayed multiple times a year for many years and the stay and amenities are always good.
Communication when I rang about the requested early check in was rude and unprofessional, with my follow up email left unanswered.

Hi there,
I just called your reception to check if the requested 1pm early check in would be available for my booking tomorrow, as that is what I have done previously on the rare occassion I have needed an early check in over the last 10years of staying at Adelaide Breakfree.
The girl would not even check if available, just told me check in was 2pm. She said she could put in a request but could not guarantee it. I told her I put in a request at time of booking, and explained that previously when I have done (maybe 2 occassions over about 20 bookings over 10+ years!) that I have called the day before as you know your overnight bookings and their check outs by then and had it confirmed. She did not even ask my name ir booking number to check room type and just said checkout is 2pm.
This is the first time I have ever received such poor service - my friends and I keep returning because the service has ALWAYS been fantastic. Very disappointed with how I was spoken to and treated. This has really soured my birthday weekend, especially as I couldn't celebrate last year.
Are you able to look up my booking and see if the hour early check in would be possible?
Also I was so appalled by her attitude that I didn't ask if the $19 parking was for 24hrs (so if enter at 1pm it went to 1pm on Sunday) or just per day ($19 for day entered and $19 for next day too, even if only parked a total of 18hrs parking) as normally don't drive in. Would love to know the answer to this as I can park down the road at Wilsons parking for cheaper ($13 for 24hrs) but would pay the $6 extra for convience if for 24hrs.
Thanks,
Dani

Everything from location, security, cleanliness, comfort and staff were all 10/10 for me. Special thanks to Ashleigh at reception for making sure I felt safe and that my months stay was as comfortable as could be. She went above and beyond for me and I am endlessly appreciative. The bed was super comfortable and the room spacious and well set out. The secure parking is a big plus and super easy! If you’re looking for somewhere that is comfortable and spacious with everything you need for a long or short stay at a great price, I recommend staying here!
