We spent 5 nights in late June early July 2023 at Elysian. Such great value for money— all meals are provided, and the food was exquisite. Perfectly balanced fresh creations that cater to every dietary requirement (even ones you forgot to mention are no trouble for the kitchen), and an excellent wine list. We were seriously indulged by the staff, all of whom were very attentive and friendly. Rooms are cleaned twice a day and beds turned down in the evening (while you enjoy delicious canapes on the deck before dinner).
We enjoyed the full range of inclusive activities including yoga in the mornings (and afternoons when we were up to it), kayaking, and a bushwalk to Milkwood Bay. The resort is surrounded by abundant wildlife, we saw a pod of whales during early morning yoga, and a dugong, turtles, stingrays, small reef sharks, coral trout and more than a few fish while kayaking, along with ospreys circling above.
Helicopter in and out is expensive but am amazing experience. We also enjoyed a relaxing massage (extra cost) at the spa.
Highly recommended for that much needed winter recharge

I stayed 5 nights over the Christmas period and overall really enjoyed my stay. Charlie and his team did a great job at looking after me. The villa was beautifully presented, I adored the rope swing on the terrace. The room was spacious and nicely furnished, housekeeping did a great job at keeping the room clean. Yoga in the mornings was a great way to start the day, it was easy enough to do for a beginner but there were more advanced options for those with more experience. The spa was another highlight offering very relaxing treatments. The pool was tranquil and quite often I would laze on the pool floats looking at the stunning view. The staff were all very friendly, especially Alice and Marnie who would often say hi (and remembered my name) even if they weren’t working that day. Harley (the dog) was an absolute delight, it made my day when I could get some cuddles and kisses from her. The food was very tasty. I would have preferred being able to choose from a range of meals rather than just being provided with a meal. The chef would personally deliver your meals, informing you what it was, which was a lovely personalised service. The meals were all very healthy and quite fancy and it would’ve been good to have an option of more normal food/less health focussed food too. I informed both chefs of my dislike for egg, explaining it makes me feel sick, yet on 2 occasions I was served egg for breakfast, which was disappointing. Wifi is only available in the main pavilion and is very slow at time’s, but that’s not surprising considering the remote location. The other important thing to note is if you’re transferring by boat, the beach is really rocky and the boat can’t pull up so you need to walk out in the water to meet the boat and be hoisted into the boat as there’s no steps. I ended up very wet and had to get changed at the airport before my flight, which I wasn’t informed of at any stage. Really lovely stay, so glad I spent Christmas here, thanks to Charlie and the team.

Hi Jess, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review, we're pleased you enjoyed your stay and our teams' customer service. We apologise for the mishap with being served egg at breakfast, we do require 14 days notice for dietary requirements and sometimes if that's missed, the chefs may have already done their menus and don't have your preferences to note. We use several different transfer options for arrival and on some tides, there is a walk out to the boat, although the boat companies usually provide a vessel with a forward loading ramp for us. Since your stay, we have amended our transfer booking process so we can discuss better with our guests their options. Thank you again for choosing Elysian Retreat and we hope to welcome you back again.

We loved our stay at Elysian. It really was a 'retreat'. We booked 5 nights for our 20th wedding anniversary. There are two types of rooms, one with an outside shower and one without. We had one without and we didn't think we were really missing anything. The resort is quiet (no kids!) and is the type of place you can just chill out. Most days we just read, swam, ate and drank! With a maximum of 10 couples and a small staff it is a very intimate environment. Having said that you could chat with the other guests or be left to your own devices. Brenton is a fantastic chef and serves up a great variety of very tasty food. He asks about your likes and dislikes so he can tailor your meal. The island is very tidal so depending on what time you arrive and depart you will either catch a boat or helicopter from Hamilton Island. If you are into clubs, bars, lots of activity and nightlife this isn't the place for you. If you want a relaxing time away with your partner then I thoroughly recommend it.

Elysian Retreat is absolutely idyllic. The secluded location with limited guests allows for a quiet and relaxing holiday. The bungalows are well appointed, with plenty of different places to sit and watch the turquoise waters of the Whitsundays. Comfortable beds ensure an excellent nights’ sleep. There are also plenty of shady & sunny spots around the pool and dining area to read a book, cocktail (or tasty mocktail, up to you) in hand.
If you feel like being active you can take out kayaks, stand up paddle boards or a catamaran to explore the bay, or go for a walk to the other side of the island. I also really enjoyed the pre-breakfast yoga. Staff can also organise day trips to go snorkelling around nearby islands or visit Whitehaven beach. The coral I saw on our snorkelling trip was also in very good condition.
It was however the staff that make the place truly special. They all provide the kind of attentive, yet casual and friendly attention that makes you feel instantly relaxed and well cared for. The food is fresh and delicious, and all your dietary requirements can be catered to. If you are after a truly special holiday, I cannot recommend Elysian Retreat highly enough.

We have just had 4 nights at Elysian and it was the perfect place in so many ways. If you are looking for a boutique and secluded experience with great service, great food and absolute peace and quiet this is the perfect choice.
We had a number of activities to fill in between our lazy time around the pool. We went kayaking, national park walks, day trip to whitehaven (which is a must do). The staff were so helpful in providing backpacks, picnics and equipment.
The in house spa has amazing massages and the morning yoga is such a positive way to start the day. The food is all amazing everyone staying enjoyed every meal and the drinks are at a price where you can enjoy them as much as you please.
I highly recommend this family run 5 star resort. It is a great choice away from the hustle and bustle if you want a secluded tropical not touristy paradise!

Elysian review
We spent 4 nights at Elysian Retreat on Long Island for our 40th wedding anniversary a few days ago. What a relaxing, wonderful holiday.
We arrived by Helicopter and got to enjoy the view of the crystal clear azure blue waters of the Whitsundays on the way. We were delighted with the service and friendliness of the staff. The resort itself is nothing short of amazing, incredible views in every direction, beautiful accommodation with super comfortable beds, a perfect balcony out front with your own swing and comfortable lounge to just chill and watch the world go bye. There are hammocks, swing chairs, and lounges throughout the resort if you feel the need to lie down and read a book, or catch a few rays.
The wet edge pool was lovely for an early morning dip, The morning yoga sessions were perfectly run for even those of us that are not so young and wanted to try something new.
We were pampered in the spa by the very talented and friendly ladies who massaged us into a state of bliss.
Johnny the Chef is nothing short of a god of food, my wife is a vegetarian and the meals he prepared for both of us were nothing short of a two hat restaurant standard. It’s not often you go to a resort and keep checking your watch to see if it is time for a meal. A small but well chosen wine list topped off our experience, I emailed ahead to ask for Merlot for my wife, and they ensured there was a good supply of very very nice merlot. For dinner on our anniversary they set up a surprise romantic candle lit table on our front balcony of our Bure, with wine, flower petals, and beautiful food and private service, amazing.
Early evening were canapés by the fire pit, and great conversation with the other guests. We have stayed at Qualia and we rated this much better for the personal service and private , and secluded atmosphere.
I think the best question is will we go back, in a heartbeat, and the sooner the better. Spoil yourself and stay there, you will not regret it

Our experience at the Elysian was nothing short of extraordinary. Many times, the simple things in life are the best. “Less is more”
A unique experience, characterised by outstanding customer service, with sincerity and a genuine care factor to “over deliver” and ensure the best possible experience.
Personalised customer service evolves during your stay, as Charlton and the team get to know you and understand how they can help you plan a day that meets all expectations.
We mentioned at dinner we would like to kayak and take the walk to “Palm Beach”, a resort at the other end of the island. After breakfast, lunch and water bottles were packed and ready to set off.
The meals are beyond ordinary, the fresh seafood, the crisp salads, all wrapped in a unique and creative style. One night we had seafood marinara, the pasta was homemade, the seafood included moreton bay bugs, scallops, fresh chunks of fish and prawns, it was to die for. Every meal was as amazing as the next.
The maximum accommodation for 20 people allows for personal and friendly conversation with other guests.

Elysian is 5 star eco chic. The rooms are beautifully comfortable with a fresh and serene vibe. The reception area is beautifully done to suit the remote location.
One of the highlights was the food. Every meal was so thoughtfully prepared and delicious. Our dietary requests were always catered for.
Arriving by helicopter also gives the resort an exclusive feel and the holiday feels like an adventure from the start.
The staff organised a beautiful day on a boat for us to snorkel and visit Whitehaven beach which was another highlight.
I was sad to go back to reality after the holiday as it felt like luxury paradise on our own private island.

COVID put a hole in our plans to visit Elysian in 2020, so when we were able to make it here in 2021 we breathed a sigh of relief! My wife and I spend a week away together each year reviewing the year that was and planning the year that will be. Elysian was the perfect location to do just this.
It is a small and secluded resort just minutes chopper ride from Hamilton Island. Ease of access - tick. With 9 rooms and 18 guests you really feel away from the madding crowd and relaxing to do whatever you please is super easy. We enjoyed relaxing on the poolside daybed, Kayaking, Bushwalking, Beach Combing, Nature Watching and enjoying some really great Massages. Tick, tick.
What set Elysian apart for us from so many other resorts however was the staff and their exceptional happiness and service. Is is clear Charlton (Charlie) is a host with exceptional pride in his resort and desire for guests to get the most out of their stay. He is supported by a staff that could not be faulted. Each member was so happy and passionate about making sure you relaxed and enjoyed island life. It was the little things like the great lengths the chefs Link and Patrick went to make sure each Vegan meal was a hit, to the front end service led by Rochelle, to possibly the best massages we have ever had from Alice and Manja. Not to mention the awesome service from Monica, Bibhu, Remek, Joe and Neila. Seriously - each staff member was awesome. Tick, tick, tick!!
Based on the staff alone (and there is so much more to the resort than the staff!) we would not hesitate in recommending Elysian. Thanks Charlton and team - you made our stay outstanding.

For our honeymoon, we stayed at Elysian for four nights, looking for a secluded relaxed romantic experience and it not only delivered but exceeded any expectations we had in mind.
From the minute our toes touched the water on the island, the host Charlie was there with a friendly smile and greeted us like old friends.
The staff create a personalised experience with banter, conversations and ensure you are well looked after.
Our chef Patrick created 10/10 dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a simple beautiful beachside dining hall with generous servings of fine dining cuisine.
There was the ability to have the couples
honeymoon experience we were after but at any point make friends and have drinks with other guests, use the kayaks or paddle boards and go for a snorkel as well as stop by the spa for amazing massage experiences.
A trip we will never forget thanks to Charlie and the Elysian Retreat team who have created a world class experience with only 18 guests at a team.
We can’t wait to come back.

We have just received all the photos after a shoot on island last week and in process of uploading to all our sites and channels. By the end of next week the photos and information will all be updated :)
We hosted our first guests at Elysian at the end of March and in terms of activities some are described on the property website, but we will be sure to update it here too.
Kindest regards
Charlton and the team at Elysian
