Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Room was great nice and large. Beds comfortable and seating areas comfortable as well. View from from room was excellent. Bathroom was ok. It was clean but could have done with a good scrub. Staff were always helpful and courteous. Advice hire a buggy to explore the island and get around.

Room Tip: Hire a buggy to get around. It is very expensive in the resort and around town. Be forewarned.

Hotel's Favourite
Great stay at the Reef View Hotel. We stayed in the Garden View Apartments that were nice and renovated with lovely views. Our initial rooms (we had two) were a bit noisy but we really couldn’t fault Guest Services and the Manager for listening to us and accomodating our concerns. Gosh it made a huge difference. For our entire stay, we couldn’t fault the service or the hotel - from the transfers and welcome at the airport to the well coordinated shuttles back to the airport. Great music at the Reef Lounge as well. High Five Reef View and Hamilton island. Loved our stay. Everything about it.

I've already stayed on Hamilton Island last year but in a different hotel which unfortunately was already booked on my dates so I decided to book the Reef View Hotel. Unfortunately the Reef View Hotel was a bit of a disappointment. I had a reef view room on the upper floors. Positive: + Great location next to Catseye beach + Well-organized transfer options to the marina and the airport + Big, clean room with a great view on the ocean on the upper floor + Love the view from the glass elevator + Staff is fantastic and really helpful + Bar had nice cocktails + Arrival/Departure lounge where you can have a shower before/after checkout Negative: - Room was pretty outdated and thus not really appealing to me, apart from it's size - Pool area too small and pool in need of update as well Even though the hotel has a lot of great benefits, the old rooms were really a big drawback for me, especially the bathroom/shower. There is definitely room for improvement there.

State in the reef hotel in Hamilton Island in October 2023. Flew up from Sydney directly onto Hamilton Island airport. Upon landing, we were greeted by staff from the wreath hotel who excellent. We found the whole transfer experience. Incredible. Hotel two minutes later after were picked up and found the check-in experience excellent and were delighted to have two double beds very spacious room on the 12th floor overlooking the Great Barrier Reef. I would highly recommend this hotel for couples young couples and families to stay in the hotel for a week. The outside of the hotel has been completed with Painter and the interior is excellent. The bars .3 pleasant. The breakfast as little chaotic early in the morning with lots of children running around. What a course with the territory. We are in sales restaurant and the club absolutely sensation. I would highly recommend it estate. You

We went to Hamilton Island during the September school holidays. The island was completely packed and the hotels were full. Despite the chaos though, the hotel management was absolutely on point and orderly. We got on the bus quickly soon after arriving at the airport, and although we couldn't check in until the designated time of 3pm, the staff took our details and suitcases. The room was spacious and beds were comfy. Interior is probably due for an update and bathroom definitely looked old and tired, but overall the environment was clean and well maintained. The hotel pool was smaller than other pools but was the least crowded, so we actually enjoyed staying here more than going to the other pools. Similarly, the restaurant had pretty good food too so we ended up spending most of the time at the hotel only. Lastly, I want to personally call out the amazing staff at the hotel for being so attentative and accommodating. On our last day, we realised we left our ipad in the room after passing through security at the airport. We called the hotel, the front desk informed us they had already found the ipad and was trying to contact us for the last couple of hours. We initially agreed that the ipad will be posted to us to Melbourne but after finding out that our flight won't leave for another 40 minutes, the hotel organised for someone to drive the ipad to the airport. We're so amazed and grateful to everyone involved for going above and beyond and taking time out of their busy schedule to help a single customer. Thank you!

We loved our stay at the mirage and Hamilton Island, the service was great and location perfect across from cats eye beach. We will definitely return. I got my take away morning coffee each morning before we headed off and our night cap at the end of the night in their gorgeous bar area. Rooms a little outdated however beds were so comfortable and everything you need very spacious. Overall experience was amazing regardless.

After reading some of the reviews, I did not hold high expectations. How wrong was I. From the time of arrival on the island everything was so smooth. The transfer to the hotel was perfect. Checkin was easy and met with caring and pleasant staff. The hotel foyer was exceptionally clean. Into the lifts and up to the room to be met with a spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable room. You have already read about the views and the cockatoos, but they certainly did not stop me from enjoying the balcony. The bathroom was very large and had a bath, great for the little sines. The restaurant food was what you would expect from a hotel like this. Breakfasts had a wide variety of options, well chilled cold food, hot hot food. It had an array of American, English and Asian breakfast fare which many 5 star hotels in Australia do. It do. The sports club next door had a great sauna and spas, free to guests. The central location of this hotel means that you have a choice of three pools and the beach all within easy walking distance. The green bus to the restaurant strip works well, but we did hire a buggy which made the trip easier with two small children in tow. The island has a variety of restaurants catering to different budgets and tastes. The sandwiches from the bakery are great, get them and go to one tree hill for a picnic and enjoy the view! Manta ray for lunch is well worthwhile. We were a family of 4 adults, a three year old and a baby staying in three rooms. I cannot fault the hotel, but if I did maybe the bed, but that is sooo personal so you should probably disregard it. Those who know my reviews know I am straight forward and a hard Marker. Just do it, I doubt you will be disappointed.

Stayed here for a week in a reef view room. The rooms themselves are large enough. The bathroom is big, it has a mini bar fridge and a decent sized TV incl foxtel. The view is amazing from the higher floors. The beds are comfortable enough and there is daily service replacing towels and emptying bins. The bathrooms need an actual clean though. There is dirt and small areas of mould in the grout. The screens on the bathroom windows look like a full lint catcher from your tumble dryer. It's 80s style. You need to run around under the shower to get wet. Unfortunately if you are staying during school holidays, prepare to be reamed (normal holiday surcharge plus island surcharge which , going on items in the local IGA can be around 70% extra. We played $630/night and $680 for an extra night which we added a few days after our initial booking. This was due to their software adjusting pricing automatically, which they supposedly cannot override. The Reef View is a reasonable place to stay but not really for school holiday prices.

The garden view room does not have cutlery or a toaster. Kitchenette is not properly equipped for families who want to avoid paying the $45 per person cost for breakfast. We transferred here from the Palm Bungalows (due to airline messing up our flights) and had to check out from there at 10am and couldn’t check into our new room at Reef View until 1:45pm, we were told housekeeping would prioritize having our room ready early as we were a room transfer but this did not happen. We had to hang around the pool area waiting for our room to become ready from 10am to 1:45pm with a grumpy 1.5 year old who needed a nap. When the room was finally ready I lined up at reception to get the room keys, when it got to my turn they told me to wait while they served someone from a different line because “she’s been waiting for a while”. Wow. That’s not how queues work and I’ve been waiting for almost 4 hours for my room but ok you go ahead and serve that lady who’s been waiting here for 10 minutes. I NEVER want to go back to Hamilton Island, the hotels are too full and the shops and restaurants cannot cope with the hoards of people staying here. Trying to catch the shuttle bus to the marina at dinner time is a nightmare. Couldn’t even get on it was too full so we gave up not wanting to wait for the next one. Every shop and food outlet has a huge line, especially the supermarket. Every restaurant is booked out months in advance. I’d rather stay at Noosa it’s so much better there.

We just came back from an amazing family holiday at the Reef View Hotel. And views it has in spades - my god! Those lifts are like nothing else on the island. Our room was a good size and clean but getting a little dated. We stayed in a double queen room view facing the ocean. If you’re debating whether to spend the extra money for an ocean view it’s a no brainer. 100% worth it! Hamilton is such a fun, family friendly environment. As a family with 2 young kids (2 & 4) we felt safe walking around and enjoyed ourselves.
