What we expected verses what we got, wow. The staff just look exhausted, and unhappy. Nothing like going to the other side and seing a paint stained or missing paint pool with no lights and exposed wiring, go swimming hey! Lovers cove, way over sold. Not cocktails, but pre mix drinks, oh and if you want a platter, book 24hr in advance but no one tells you this! And when you check in, staff did not mention the fact that there are only 2 restaurants and they would be fully booked, so enjoy a bag of chips for tea if you make it to the kiosk in time. Won't recommend to anyone!

We were very hesitant about going here asI had read the bad reviews beforehand but had already booked, so didn't have much of a choice and we were only staying 3 nights. I am very pleased we went but wouldn't have wanted to have stayed any longer as it currently has limited facilities. It was a lovely 30 minute ferry ride from Hamilton Island airport and the welcome and check in was very easy. The room was nice - quite large but with a tiny balcony (which was a shame - check the small print!). The bed was big and comfortable and the room had a large fridge which was useful. It also had a kettle, tea and coffee etc. Breakfast was fine - we never had to queue for anything and there was plenty of choice. The two restaurants are lovely and the food excellent. Sometimes the food took a while to be served, depending on how many people were there, or how many pizzas had been ordered for take away. This seemed to be used a lot, so we assumed people were eating in their rooms. The pizzas were great. Facilities - the beaches are coral not sand. Between November and March you need a wetsuit to swim or snorkel in the sea because of the stingers - they provide all this but it's a bit annoying - It's obviously for the whole of the area. One side of the island, where you get the kayaks was pretty much shut down, which was a shame. There is a pool there but the bar was closed up and it all looks a little sad. The mini golf was completely closed up. These all may be opened up and staffed in time for the Christmas Holidays - I do hope so for anyone that is going. The Living Reef is a lovely attraction and nice that it runs around the hotel. Biggest Negative for us: There are too many kangaroos on the island - we assume that they've been left to breed during the aftermath of the cyclone and covid. It would be helpful if they could get rid of a lot of these kangaroos. They are eating all the grass, so the grass and garden areas are messy and full of kangaroo poo -which is such a shame, as it could all be so lovely. This doesn't seem to be looked after at all. They need to inject some cash and TLC to invest in getting the other pool and bar open and running. The staff are available to work but we believe the hotel couldn't afford to pay them for the extra hours. It needs a proper gardener/maintenance cleaner to be looking after the garden/pathway areas - it was all a bit messy and tired. Lover's Cove needs a proper pop-up bar that could be open from 11am to 7pm (they are currently serving beer or cava from a shed between 5 and 7!). They would make plenty of money with the people using the beach - with teas and coffees and a small selection of beers and wines etc. We felt this was so short sighted of the hotel. This could be a little gold mine. It's a lovely little beach. People were taking their own drinks down there. Biggest Plus for us: The staff. They are keen to work the longer hours to keep the bars etc. open for longer, if they could get paid. They all seemed to genuinely love working there and seemed to get on with the job in hand. We didn't see any management while we were there and the staff looked to be getting on with their jobs as best as they could.

My 7th time here😊 Beds are always very comfortable, most of staff were very nice although not quite as friendly as previous visits. The chef who cooks breakfast is very good, inkstone dinners very nice, the chef that cooked American buffet tues 21/11/23 very nice, my only complaint! The chef who cooked the buffet on wed 22/11/23 not so good, pasta was inedible, too tough, no sauce, very disappointing and upsetting we had to pay $38 for a buffet that included inedible food. Otherwise very enjoyable.

We had a lovely 5 night stay with our 7 year old son. Thank you to the staff who were all so friendly and lovely. We enjoyed the beautiful wildlife on land and in the living reef and learned a lot during the morning living reef talks. The sunset side of the island was perfect for a quiet swim and we could watch turtles swimming from the shoreline. We also enjoyed watching a movie on the big screen there. A lovely, easy, and relaxing holiday for a family.

My wife and I spent 10 days on the island, we can thoroughly recommend it as a very relaxing holiday. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, bending over backwards to satisfy all your needs. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. There are a few excursions available and they are happy to organise them for you. Overall, a fantastic experience, we will definitely be returning.

Won’t be coming back. Was charged for our stay twice for some reason, which the front desk resurrected by refunding us at the end of our stay. Some of the workers were quite rude and quite frankly looked like they didn’t want to be there, Booked a facial and massage treatment to the amount of $180 which was confirmed 3 times to then go to my appointment to find that they had booked me for a different service, and could not do the service I requested. So I continued with the incorrect service as I was unsure what to do, the therapist had said prior to my treatment that “I can just follow it up with the desk afterwards”. So that’s what I did to then be told that It was the front desks fault that they messed up my booking but if I wanted the one that I was promised that I would have to pay for it $110 to be exact. I am pretty understanding, but feel that is pretty unfair. It kind of ruined my experience. The front desk could have done better. Fair enough if the prices were lower, but when you pay what you do, you expect better.

Daydream island? More like horror island. This place is truly something straight out your worst nightmare and I’m not even exaggerating. How people book to stay in this hell hole honestly baffles me. We had booked 1 night (too long) as part of our honeymoon trip. Upon arrival, we were escorted to the front desk where we were given a 15 minute talk like we were on school camp. The lady who gave the talk was very nice though so I won’t complain about that. Next, we checked in and made our way into our “deluxe ocean terrace” room which was meant to be one of the best rooms in the hotel. Well. . . upon stepping into this "resort", the room absolutely stunk of a mixture of mould, mildew, and bleach. there were bird faeces all over the balcony railing and floor. I understand that there is plenty of wildlife, however, hosing down the balcony before each arrival should be the absolute BARE minimum for a $699 a night room! The fact that the entire island is covered in wildlife faeces didn't bother me, however, faeces in the hotel is a huge no-no. I wish I had a photo of the balcony but I think that my body had gone into a state of shock. Whilst laying in bed I saw a tick in the bed sheets that almost completely latched onto me. DISGUSTING! Our shower was honestly infested with mould all throughout. After making a complaint to reception, housekeeping made an attempt to reclean, however, the decade old stains could not be removed. The severe illnesses that inhalation of mould can cause, is nothing to laugh about. On the other side of the island, there is a section of an abandoned resort and shops that were destroyed in the cyclone many years ago. The fact that daydream island have the nerve to market this abandoned section as a sunset bar and pool to relax really takes the cake. The straw that broke the camels back was when we hired some tennis rackets from reception, only to find that the tennis court (and soccer pitch) looked like they had just been hit by a cyclone. Way too dangerous to play in there without risking slipping and breaking a leg. After being so spoilt on hamilton, Hayman, and Long Island, Daydream was the biggest disappointing stay of our lives. To anyone reading this, please AVOID at all costs. The hotel itself is extremely old, rundown, and smelly. There is absolutely no excuse for the lack of maintenance and up keeping of the hotel and island. If the owners can’t afford to fix it, simple sell up. All of the staff that we encountered were so lovely and it’s a real shame that they have to work in these disgusting conditions. The food at infinity restaurant was good and was the only reason that we didn't book an emergency transfer out of there for our short stay.

Our first impression of the island was very beautiful 🌸 As soon as we arrived on the fairy the scenery was amazing, we were instantly welcomed by a little kangaroo the weather was nice as we arrived at around 11:30am. Everything was nice about the arrival, we got our bags as soon as possible and we were ready to relax since we had a big night and day (just the day before) However we weren’t notified on our passes/hotel issued email that we would have to wait 6hours to check into our rooms. Anyways as we got there to get the key we were constantly told kindly that “our rooms will be ready very soon. But they were wrong and I had to go back many times just to be told the same thing and be disappointed….. We had to sleep/rest in the lobby with our luggage while there were people standing everywhere. Don’t get me wrong it was still nice as we go to play a few games of pingpong and have something to drink but we were exhausted and wanted a bit of privacy as soon as we arrived. Other wise everything else was great! The room we stayed in was very nice and cool with the ac on, it had a great view and overall I would stay there 10 times over again. Although there was one thing I would say that didn’t meet the standards that I’d hoped. There was still a lot of sand on the floor (i’m guessing because it wasn’t properly vacuumed and the little coffee table had some residue that caused it to be very sticky with a toe nail clipping of it. I was a bit iffy on that one as it was supposed to be somewhat of a luxury experience but I guess that’s fine…………. The activities were absolutely wonderful, the staff we amazing and informative and they really did a great job at getting us keen to get out into the water. I believe Tom was our instructors name. He was very nice and funny, thanks to him we were confident and had an awesome time trying new things. Thanks. The food was amazing, no complaints about that and the rooms service was really nice. Thank you Daydream island for being the best choice we made for our special few days as a newly wed couple. Will definitely be back soon.

Thank you to the team at Daydream Island. Myself and my daughter had a fantastic time. The weather was very windy which was a shame but this didn't dampen our stay. The food was good at infirmity and Inkstone although it would be nice to have perhaps one more restaurant option just to add more diversity. My daughter really enjoyed the outdoor cinema and funny enough the daily activities such as the bingo and trivia nights were also great fun. The team there does such a great job in making this a fun, interactive experience. I must mention a thank you to the staff at Daydream that helped us with a room move when our first room had some maintenance problems occur. Dylan was very efficient with helping us and also carried all of our luggage for us when room moving as I guess he saw I had a bung leg. Really lovely! All the reception team always smiled and greeted us every time we walked past the reception desk which just amazing! I've never experienced service like it anywhere I have been before. Special mention to Will at the bar and Rhi at reception as well. They seemed to be naturally friendly.
