Heron Island is a wonderful nature sanctuary with amazing bird life, nesting sea turtles and good snorkeling, and we were lucky enough to see 4am one night a sea turtle laying eggs. The sand is amazing so as the colour of the sea. Those are the reasons why one comes to Heron Island. The resort itself is serviceable with decent...

Peace and quiet, reef and beaches are great. Well worth doing the I spy tour ,the coral and fish life is amazing. We reef walked around entire island and saw a lot of sea creatures not commonly seen. Will be back.

A lovely back to nature holiday. The diving staff were FANTASTIC!! Such a laid back resort- nothing flash, but this allows a true nature experience. Dinner was an issue and I hope the management are sorting out some better options- the website was not accurate as far as dining options are concerned. Definitely would go back to Heron.

The island itself is beautiful. It's to bad it's backed by expensive shabby rooms that don't even have door locks, terrible restaurant( we ate this terrible pizza for 2 nights), understaffing, and a bar that couldn't serve your 1st 2nd or third choice of beer or even give you a scooner glass because management didn't stock the island properly. All...

My partner and I stayed on Heron Island in May 2016 and absolutely loved it. We stayed in the "cheapest" available room option (Turtle Room) and were a little worried due to reading some reviews on TripAdvisor, but it turned out the room was actually really nice, clean and modern (renovated?), and the bed was very comfy. We were lucky,...

We spent 7 nights on Heron, our third visit in 15 years. This is still a fantastic location to get up close with the wildlife and that's the only reason to come. We had the cheapest room and it was very good but the island facilities are not improving. This time the tennis court was gone. There is very little...

Our wedding on Heron Island on July 3, 1966 was the first ever on this beautiful coral cay and surprised us by being such a unique event it was filmed for national television, and earned a full page story with colour photos in the Australian Women's Weekly, the Australian Post, and also received wide newspaper coverage. This year we are...

Heron Island itself was nice, and the diving/snorkeling were great. It's fortunate that those things are the only reason you really would travel to Heron Island, because the "resort" itself was a huge disappointment. For the price we paid, we expected a nice resort. Instead, we found a below average room, with no air conditioner, and both live and dead...

Our main objective in visiting Heron Island was to snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef -- we could snorkel from the beach and further out on the reef from a boat. By far the best snorkeling was from an area called the Junction -- great coral formations and lots of fish. Snorkeling from the beach, next to the pier, I...
