The service and stay at the resort was so terrible in every way that it went beyond comical to super frustrating. The snorkeling, however, is great. If you are super eager to visit Fitzroy Island (surely there are better places, though), just go for the day and head back to Cairns in the afternoon. Don’t stay at the resort, as you will be disappointed.

Our room looked nothing like any of the pictures. It was small and very basic. We kept our curtains closed for privacy as it backed onto a walkway. There was a used soap in our shower when we arrived so I doubt it was cleaned after the previous guest. Stay at a nice resort in Cairns and do a day trip here instead.

Details re walks need to be detailed more re distance and difficulty, a Resort room view does not mean what you would think, our view outside the 1st room was a linen cupboard, move to another and the view was a timber retaining wall and dead trees which had been cleared. You need to book the suites facing the ocean if you want a view.

Studio rooms are advertised as having a garden view - ours didnt. Very dated, worst bed I've ever slept on. No coordination of venue timing with information provided to guests on arrival. Small resort overrun with day trippers daily. Beautiful pictures of beach/resort convey a more elegant experience than reality provides. Generally disappointing experience.

Discounts and rooms weren’t as advertised. Maintenance required on resort rooms and disappointed when I didn’t get the 20% discount that I was entitled to get on my food and beverage bill. Little things like that add up to a whole lot when there are so many islands to choose from on the Queensland coast.

The staff were lovely and helped us celebrate my husbands birthday while we were there. They sang Happy Birthday to him when they bought out the cake. I think it is time to do a big spring clean and some upkeep and repairs. Having said that, we still had a good time and enjoyed ourselves.

We were looking for a little island getaway after a week aboard a liveaboard boat. Fitzroy Island Resort was the perfect relaxation place. The hiking trails were challenging and rewarding, snorkeling was awesome! Awesome time!

In short Stay on the mainland somewhere nice Do a day trip Island is beautuful Well our holiday started as a disaster and the resort certainly didn't make life any easier but that was not on them. We did not get to stay in our room but did check in the proceeding day to check the place out. The gentleman on reception was extremely condescending and made us feel unwelcome. We eventually found our way through the many walk ways and long trip to our room while seeing how run down and dated everything was. We arrive at our room to find our entry door covered in black mould.. ok, pretty gross but we are in the tropics. We then enter the room. Greeted by an intense smell of damp and mould. The room was tidy but very dated. Given you can stay in a modern five star resort in Cairns for cheaper than a basic room at the resort, do yourself a favour and stay in Cairns. The pool, bars, restaurant and kids facilities all seemed ok. The resort is clearly in need of an update and better cleaning. …

The best snorkeling with lots of fish and coral to swim with the turtles was an amazing experience for the whole family We did lots of walking trails as well some very strenuous up to the lighthouse and some just beautiful scenery and beaches
