This was our third, and longest, stay at Rambutan. The longer visit allowed me to notice things that I had previously missed, such as the fact that there are no drawers to unpack clothes into in the King bed room, or a suitcase stand upon which your bag could sit. The pool did not appear to have been cleaned recently - dirt was settled on the bottom and along the full-length step. On the plus side, the rooftop bar and restaurant are very inviting and convenient. The air conditioner in the room worked well. The room was clean.

We arrived at midday, so we left the luggage and went out the room. When we came back, we realised the tables were full of dust, and the floor of the room and toilet dirty, with hairs and lots of dirt. We didnt care too much and decided to stay, but when we opened the sheets of the bed, we saw some insects running through the bed. Went to front desk, where we were offered another room, which was the same. Dust, dirt and insects on the table. The sink hadn't been previously cleaned ,neither the floor. We decided to leave, and at 22,00 pm we had to look for another hotel, and leave this one. I am still waiting to be refunded this night that we did not sleep in Rambutan ,because the rooms were unacceptable.

We stayed at Rambutan for one night after visiting magnetic island. It is walking distance from the ferry terminal and it’s close to bars/clubs so no need to use taxis/public transport The staff were very accommodating as we arrived before 2pm check-in and they let us into the room at 12pm. We paid $319 for a King Room which boosted Privacy and Pool Views. The room itself is spacious with TV, Aircon, En-Suite and mini fridge. But it doesn’t feel like a $319 a night room.. - you can’t turn off the Aircon - the bathroom was dirty with mould buildup in the grout and shower screen - the bathroom isn’t private as it’s just a sliding door - the pool is open until 10pm which is right outside your door and the general public have access - there is no natural light unless you want everyone in the pool to see into your room I personally would stay elsewhere when visiting Townsville as the room did not match up to the price.…

The staff were totally trustworthy. My wife left her handbag at the restaurant which was handed in to the receptionist. You can not over state this act of honesty. The hotel itself is VERY popular with the locals and it caters for a wide range of people. The roof top bar and pool is a hive of activity, best to book a table early. The moderately sized rooms were clean.

I am baffled with 5 star reviews of this property. It is barely a 3. The accomodation on the rooftop surrounds the pool area. The pool is not heated so unless you stay in Townsville during the very hot summer months, the pool is like an ice bath. The pool is also shaded around 3pm and even colder. Some solar heating wouldn't go astray. The bar area on the rooftop is good and the pizza making exceptional - great bases. Highly recommend the pizzas and the other food is pretty good too. Ok then so why only 3 stars? That's because the rooftop area is open to the public and anyone can get up there. The residences are not secured up to 10pm (when the lift is closed). We had a so called quiet room but the music playing is loud and goes until 10pm every night (later on Sat night). So the rooftop is pretty cool but its open to the public so nothing special for the occupants. Now the room - YUK. Big king size bed but it was old and needed replacing. The pillows were useless as they went down to nothing. There is one small closet with 4 coat hangers - not very good for a 7 day stay. The bathroom was tiny. The shower takes up half and is 50% bigger than it needed to be. The basin was so tiny that you wash your hands and the water splashes on you. The glass door offers no privacy at all. It is about 50mm away from the door jam so when closed, there is a huge gap to the room. There are no hooks in the bathroom. When the cleaners replace your towells they have to put them on the bed because there is nowhere else to put them. This hotel is at the end of Flinders st right next to a very popular pub that has music going very late. The staff are very friendly but they don't really have helpful tourist tips as they are mostly backpackers and not trained accordingly. I couldn't recommend this hotel and certainly wouldn't stay here next time. We enjoyed Townsville but would stay nearer the strand next time. Much quieter and not that far from Flinders st and easily walkable.…

Went for a meal last week with my wife and a couple we made friends with. We decided to go upstairs to the rooftop and have some handmade pizza and a few cocktails. Food was lovely, staff were nice. We had one drink with a great chap called Joe and he was a great laugh, shame it was his last week there!

Birthday Lunch, all the entee food was disappointing, being in the industry I know it was all Bidfood frozen food deep fried, jalapeno poppers had no heat or flavour, aranchino, salt n pepper squid again no flavour, the pizza and ribs where great! Maybe just do a smaller menu with freshly cooked food, we use to come here often before Covid and food was fantastic, so very disappointing today, the bar/waiter guy was awesome, I would give him 5 stars, but food... Meh.

Amazing stay at Rambutan. We arrive there very early, the hotel is happy to accommodate and welcome us. The staff is great and the food and cocktails are delicious. The hotel is in the heart of the city, so it is very easy to grab a tuk tuk and go around. The room is very quiet and very clean. We will come back again.

Booked a table of 10 (6x adults and 4x kids) for a bday lunch and left after 15mins! The website looks awesome with pictures of the pool area and even a write up about how beautiful it is etc The weather is obviously hot in Townsville so seeing they had a pool we instantly thought of the kids and they could cool off whilst waiting for lunch but apparently that is NOT the case! The roof top bar staff member saw the kids having a swim (didn't say anything) went down stairs to get ice and then when he returned practical screamed across the dining room that the pool was for in-house guest only. We explained that we would be happy to pay for the kids to swim but were told via a 'manager' grunting at us that it was company policy! Anyway we packed up and left and found a much more relaxed and family friendly venue and they lost out on a large group booking of food and drinks $$$ Don't bother with this place, definitely not friendly nor inclusive of people with families! …

Fabulous place with great facilities at your fingertips! Good variety of drinks - lovely wood fired pizza. Coming from Victoria, the heat was a shock- the rooms were cool and comfortable. Fabulous pool area. Friendly, fun staff. Good location. Only downside was the bar running out of Prosecco 😂😂😂 Highly recommend.
