Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a wonderful little place to stay for a few nights. John was very attentive and extremely welcoming which made the place have a great feel. The breakfast basket every morning was a lovely touch. Everything you need at your fingertips. Would recommend.

Really quirky and interesting place. Great service and helpful with lots of local knowledge. A short stroll to the CBD and the Townsville strand. Fantastic customer service, just mentioned we were off to Magnetic island early and our breakfast was bought to us the night before, so we could be on our way quickly.

This B&B is an old house, so don’t expect anything fancy. We had a small apartment that was reasonably well equipped. The place is close to the city centre. It was good value but be warned – the wifi is erratic. I couldn’t get a connection that lasted for more than a couple of seconds before collapsing.

Lovely old & very characteristic place to stay, very easy walk into the Main Street, also the port for any boating day trips. So friendly and clean along with very reasonably priced. When we come back next year we are going to do our best to get a room here again. Geoff & Ngaire Dunn

Just wonderful service all round. Early check in was no problem. Gorgeous bed and walked 10km around the city exploring (according to fitbit) lol. I am actually sad im going to Magnetic island tomorrow for a wedding as this made me, a sufferer or depression feel included and wanted and homely. Id prefer to stay here!

We stayed here (2 adults + 1 baby) for one night. The location is very good, close to the center but not in a busy district. The place itself is clean and cozy. Room was a bit small with a baby but good for the night. We overlooked that the bathroom facilities we're shared. Though after arriving at the place, this didn't bother at all. The kitchen was big and with all equipment you need. Breakfast basic but good. Wifi was also good. John, the owner, is a very friendly and helpful guy. All-in-all, a good place to stay for one or two nights.

Room OK but ended up being bitten by several bugs in the night. Long term mould in bathroom and toilet that hadn't been cleaned. Kitchen was ok but food security on the breakfast (milk and fruit juice) simply not there.

We stayed here for two nights. John was a friendly and helpful manager/owner. Centrally located but still quite a walk to local restaurants etc. One of the words used to describe the accommodation was "quaint" and it was, but I felt it could just do with a little updating, just seemed a little tired. But, reasonably priced. Shared facilities on the first floor. Only one shower an toilet for the men, really not enough and wash hand basin was in with shower - not toilet. Communial kitchen and plenty of crockery etc. Good breakfast placed in fridge with your room number on. Free wifi but it kept dropping out. Generally, Australian holiday accommodation needs to sort this as it was something we experienced previously.
