Detailed Reviews
Happy to have located a holiday park fairly close to Townsville CBD with a pet-friendly option, but this particular one was rather ramshackle, with very badly potholed driveways and outdated cabins (ours had several badly cracked floor tiles), where the bathroom facilities are housed in an outside block. There were maintenance staff on site, but the big ticket items appeared to be lacking attention. Was expecting more a of tropical garden-like setting, but at least the pool area was attractive, check-in was easy and friendly and the cabin had a useful deck gate for the dog.

After breaking down on the way to Townsville the manager Sue went out of her way to change our booking. She called back to offer us a cancellation. She kindly gave us full credit from our (non-refundable) original booking we were unable to keep. We stayed in a cabin with an ensuite bathroom that was outside but under the carport cover. It was good value for the price. The towels and bedding were good quality and clean and the bed was comfortable. The cabin itself was older but clean with a well equiped kitchen and a cute deck. Very hospitable hosts who went out of their way to help us when we broke down during their very busy booked out weekend. Now that's hospitality and excellent business. Thanks for saving us Sue. We'll be back.

Not a bad location central to everything in Townsville, we were camping.
All sites are powered with ensuits. Fair enough price for location and ensuite etc, think it was about $40.
Ensuites were tidy enough. Not a bad little pool area.
Would recommend for an over nighter or a few days if you have stuff to do while in town.

Thank you for the recommendation, Seanoh2020. We're pleased that you found our location central and easy to get around. Many guests, like yourself, appreciate the convenience and privacy of having their own bathroom. Great to see you made use of the BBQ and pool area. Safe travels!

Cabin style with Outside bathroom which was rustic to say the least. Tiles missing. Caravan park stainless steel basin. Door needs replacing . Not ideal if you are one that needs to get up in the night to go to the bathroom. Whole place smelt like stale cigarettes. Very noisy as close to main road and late night fast food places. TV had no main power lead and remote no batteries.
I’ve stayed in better 3 star motels for less money.

Hi Zel60 Thank you for your frank feedback. We're sorry to read that your stay did not meet expectations. We encourage all guests to report any issues they may encounter to park staff during your stay. This allows any concerns to be addressed immediately such as spare batteries etc. Many guests prefer our location for being close to shopping and retail however we understand that this may not be the case for everyone. We would have happily relocated you to another cabin (subject to availability).

+1
This park would have to be one of the worst we have stayed in. Where do I start? We emailed the reception re making a booking for 2 nights. Emails were friendly & informative. When we arrived at the park I was greeted by a very unfriendly lady & a man sitting beside her eating pizza. No smiles, no how has your day been? Just a grunt. We had attempted to pay a deposit the night before, but it did not go through so that is what was relayed to me after giving the lady my name. "Your payment didn't go through, I have your details on the screen in front of me" OK, we make payment & off we go to our designated ensuite site. We had to request a different site as we are having trouble with our jockey wheel & the site allocated had a slight rise. Off we go to the new ensuite site. I needed to use the bathroom, so unlocked the door & was shocked by what I saw. A very dirty bathroom that looked like it hadn't had any maintenance in 20 years!! Mouldy shower, shower rail held up by a piece of rusty wire & a cable tie, no soap dish, a door that has paint
peeling off, also paint chipped off the bottom from a rock being used to prop the door open, mould on the ceiling & dirty floor. The top of the toilet cistern was covered in dust. I lifted the lid of the toilet and to my horror, realised someone had used the toilet (faeces & toilet paper) & hadn't flushed! In hindsight we should have gone straight back to reception & cancelled the booking, but we were tired & didn't want to go driving around Townsville looking for alternative accommodation. The site where we parked the van was riddled with trip hazzards; rocks, broken pavers, garden rubbish etc. On checking out 2 days later I was again met with the grunt " Leave the key on the counter " No how was your stay, hope we see you again.
We definitely DO NOT recommend Secura Lifestyle Park, Townsville.

We were extremely disappointed to read your feedback 824SherylS as we see this as an unfair assessment of your stay. On check-in, a different site to what was originally allocated, was requested. We were happy to accommodate your request however we did inform that the preferred site was not clean yet. We would send a member of our housekeeping staff straight away once available, to attend to this. The comments relating to the cleanliness of the ensuite were made before our cleaner had arrived. The photos posted are of a neighbouring site and their hoses. We recognise that we are an older style park and this is reflected in our rates. Many guests deem this to be good value given that guests have the privacy and comfort of their own bathroom as well as the location being close to shopping and eateries plus easy access to the City Centre. We do our best to ensure we provide the best possible stay for our guests. We're sorry to read that your customer service encounters were contrary to that experienced by many other reviewers. We're pleased to read that you enjoyed the rest of your time in Townsville. Safe travels.

I must say firstly that the reception staff were welcoming, friendly and happy.
Quick check in and l was onto my site.
On leaving reception l did notice that the park did not look like the photos, instead the park looked tired, old and out of date. As for the lake, well if that’s what you call it then ok, tho I’ve lived on lakes and this isn’t one tho the mozzies love it there. The amenities are a great idea and very handy tho outdated compared to the photos.
The location of this park really needs to be mentioned as it sits in the middle of two major roads so the traffic noise is one thing, tho the excavation right next door to the park was insanely noisy from dawn to dusk. This really should have been mentioned on check in. Another problem which associates to noise ontop of everything else is the amount of CURLEWS (noisy birds) at this park….l lost count and I’m used to these birds tho the 2nights were crazy. Definitely things to take into consideration.

If you decide to stay at this park make sure you get a site over near the lake. We were in the row where the site numbers are in the eighties and we backed onto a side street and behind us was a 24 hour convenience store, Pizza Hut, Mc Donald’s and a few other takeaways. We arrived on a Monday and left on the Saturday and hardly had any sleep as the Hoons start about 9pm with their hotted up cars and just rev their engines and do wheelies then there are the motor bikes as well, they all come out every night. We will not be returning to this caravan park. Also all sites have a double concrete slab which is not level and all sites also have their own en-suite and ours had a very musty smell about it.

Great location, great service at check-in but standard of cabins are very poor. Definitely in need of refurbishing. The shower had hair and a spider in it. There wasn't a spare blanket for the bed and it was a cold night.

Hi Ivana68, we're sorry to hear that your stay fell short of your expectations. We do offer a range of accommodation from budget-friendly to modern cabins with lake views. If you would kindly like to get in touch with the team on 07 4725-1577 or via info.lakes@securalifestyle.com.au with feedback, we'd like the chance to look into this further. Thank you.

Visited with the family, super friendly management. Great location, amazing camp kitchen with big tv, bbq and pool. The children played in the pool while we cook dinner. The cabin was comfortable, no need to cook the best fast food corner I have ever seen. Taco Bell, subway, leaf wood cafe makes the best deserts- kids loved the endless options. We went to the open day for the new stadium, super close. We will be back.

We recently spent 3 nights in an ensuite site at the Townsville Lakes Holiday Park. Whilst it is conveniently located the condition of the park is very poor. Amenities very tired, taps leaking and the internal roadway is a disgrace.
They are charging a high rate for a 2nd grade Caravan Park. Look elsewhere.

What is the question
It may sound bad but do not believe what people write. Yes there may be a lot of concrete but when it rains it pours ( wet season) so you do not get bogged, do not walk in mud. Every site is ensuited, No long walk to the amenities. Short walk to Castletown shopping centre hop on a bus there travel all over Townsville. Don't want to cook we have eateries right out the front, Sizzlers, Subway, Sunshine Kebabs, Red Rooster, Chinese Tea House, Pizza Hut & the Mecure right next door has a licenced restaurant open to the public.
