Madison Plaza Townsville has received mixed feedback from guests. While the central location is consistently praised for its convenience, the hotel’s service has been a point of contention, with reports of unfriendly and unprofessional behavior. Travelers have also voiced concerns regarding the cleanliness of the rooms, citing mold and subpar cleaning services. The value proposition is diminished by unexpected additional costs and parking fees. Although the bedding is comfortable, calls for renovations are frequent, with guests pointing out the need for updated amenities and refreshed decor.

The staff were friendly and accommodating. The carpark is paid for Au$15, and is a block away from the hotel building. The cafe is currently being refurbished, but there are a a lot of restaurants around. The room ( executive family suite) is huge and has ample space for bags and other belongings.

Hi Skylahapex, Thank you for sharing your experience following your recent stay at Madison Plaza Townsville. We sincerely value your honest review and are so pleased you found our staff to be super friendly and helpful. We have a fantastic team at Madison Plaza Townsville who are always ready to go above and beyond to make sure our guests feel happy and comfortable. Thank you for your kind comments about the Executive Family Suite. As you've experienced, this room type is very popular amongst families and groups, due to its spacious layout and value for money price point. You will be pleased to know, the new venue adjacent to reception is launching this weekend. Matte Black Violet is Townsville's newest bar and restaurant, specializing in modern Australia cuisine - we hope you have the opportunity to dine with them during your next stay. Thank you so much for your feedback! We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Kind Regards, Sharna Baldonado Head Office - Madison Hotel Group a/ Hotel Contact for Madison Plaza Townsville

The rooms are standard size comfortable and the bathroom was renovated about 15 years ago, but the furniture, carpet, tv and bedding needs a massive renewal. Our tv /remote did not work and was held together with tape. A visit to reception required new batteries. The bed was only a double- not even a Queen where a King should have been. The carpark is a 200 meter walk away over the street and around the corner.
Overall clean but would only stay out of necessity- not by choice.

Madison is a budget option, it has a great location and the rooms provide necessary amenity. There isn't a kitchenette, no microwave or toaster. The air conditioners need more frequent cleaning. I would recommend the staff, they are superstars. If you're booking a cheap place I would recommend staying here.

We had to check in after reception hours with a Mobile App to access hotel, this was verified with hotel staff. Upon arriving before 10pm unfortunately it did not give us access. We were informed by hotel staff there was no contact after hours if we had any issues. We had to book into another hotel as we had an early appointment the next day. After our appointment we returned back to the hotel as we were booked in for 4 nights. We explained to hotel reception staff we were unable to access our room with the mobile app and asked if we could be refunded for that night stay. We were told that they could not, we asked if there was a manager available. Where upon we were confronted with, I can only describe as a very rude, condescending, lack of emotion individual. Whos introduction was to reiterate the receptionist response as that it was her advice. She told us it was operator error, she was sick of people undermining her, she would not refund the night stay. We asked if we could speak to her manager and she informed NO as she was left in charge by the owners so they could play golf. She advised she wasn't going to continue the conversation. We attempted to explain although her receptionist was successful with our App to open the main hotel door, it didn't work for us and why would we at 10pm at night try and undermine the hotel to try and get a free night stay when we then had to book another hotel for $145.00. we did not ask for that cost just the cost of $85 as we could not get into our booked room with their App. There was no one to contact after hours as l'd asked earlier in the evening if we did have any issues, when we were on route to Townsville, and hotel staff advised there was not.We are deeply upset as we have never experienced the treatment we received from this hotel staff member in all our years of travel around this country and the world.

Situated right in the heart of Townsville, this hotel is great for location but sadly we were disappointed in our stay. The staff were lovely and pleasant.
After doing three blocks looking for the hotel carpark (amenities state Parking) we pulled up in the loading zone to be informed upon arrival that there is an extra $15 parking fee for a carpark around the corner in the next street!!!!!
This should be stated on your site when booking as this is very frustrating to be unloading into the hotel room, then having to drive to the carpark and walk back to the hotel..... and then walking to get the car the next morning, and driving back to the hotel to reload. (Health reasons made this a very distressing point of our stay)
The room was clean and bed comfortable although bathrooms very dated. Very quiet area.

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times with the most recent being in July 2020. The location is terrific being able to walk to all the nearby bars and restaurants and Woolworths is virtually next door. The new rugby league stadium is also very walkable. Nearby on street parking is free on the weekend which is a bonus. The rooms are quite spacious and beds comfortable.

Many issues with this hotel. Check in was a disaster. Although check in was 2pm, they asked me to wait until 2.30pm when I arrived as they were short staffed.

Then receptionist told me she would check with housekeeping for an update. She went to the back room and did not actually contact anyone - I could see her the whole time as the curved mirror in the foyer reflects the back office completely ! So lying to me wasn’t a good start.

But she came back to the desk and said my room was ready. I went upstairs and it hadn’t been touched. Still had dirty sheets and dirty towels and cups in the room. Went back down to tell her. Had to wait another hour before I could get into my rooms. Ridiculous.

Small rooms, large dark furniture makes rooms feel smaller. Pool not avail to use (apparently due to covid), rooms not serviced (apparently due to covid).

See pics. Not well maintained. Remote Controls filthy with dust. Light in bathroom held on with sticky tape. Rusty bathroom fittings. Yuk.

Location is good, Woolworths downstairs and the mall right there too.

Had a problem and couldn't get to the plaza before 10pm, we got the app that they use for their key for late comers and it wouldn't work. No one on call and had to call security to let us in, as they instructed. The next day I had to pay a fee when it stated on the instructions if you lost or had faulty key, call security and if this is not due to lost or faulty key we will fee you. They need to word it better.

Needs alot of work inside very run down in areas. On arrival we were notified that the pool was still closed because of COVID-19 which I feel should be on the website as that’s the reason we actually booked this hotel. We left something behind in our room which was very important to our son, 15 phone calls later and after 3 days the Manager refused to talk to us. No one could tell us what had happened to this item and we were told 3 different things by 3 different staff members. We then proceeded to have to do an 11hr round trip drive to actually get any results. Absolutely feel that the care factor was zero. Really disappointed by this level of no customer service.

If I could give this a lower rating I would. I wasn’t told the outdoor parking for an extra $15 was 200m away until I arrived at reception. The rooms are dark and dingy, half the lights don’t work, worn carpet everywhere, paint peeling off the walls, ceiling and kick boards, the elevators are just plain dangerous. I forgot to return the parking remote when I returned the keys to the more often than not unmanned reception and when I was called that afternoon to remind me about the remote I was advised I would be charged another night and be reimbursed. As I was a bit out of town I agreed to drop it off the next morning, to be then charged $100! I returned the remote the next morning to be told it would take a few hours to be reimbursed. I called back the next day as it had not been refunded to be scolded by the receptionist that I would not have been told that, that reception cannot do refunds and I should have read the check in sheet properly. This woman was extremely rude and condescending and then hung up on me. NEVER stay here.
