What a fantastic stay we have had at the Mercure Townsville.
Make no mistake the executive level are taking this already great Mercure to the next level with state of the art resort facilities including a plethora of event and conference space, refurbished rooms, on site Celsius restaurant with a devine selection of entrees, mains and deserts.
The grounds are impeccably maintained with some rooms overlooking the lake from a spacious balcony with chairs and tables, often missing.
The Mercure resort has a pool and spa space wrapping around the main bar and restaurant space adding to a wonderful oasis feel while you dine or indeed indulge in a spa and dip in the pool or a ice cold beverage from the very nearby well stocked bar.
Room was extremely spacious, impeccably clean, modernised, comfortable beds, large tv and large bathroom and most importantly an amazing air con!
Probably the biggest asset of the Mercure is the amazing Staff! A massive thank you to Alley in reception for your very kind and understanding support for our disaster work. Having the comfort of the Mercure after our field work was heaven sent and we appreciate so much that we had somewhere to rejuvenate when so many didn’t. Shout also to Hailey, and Ria-Jai.
It would be remiss of me to not mention the most amazing F&B staff who feel now more like family then hosts and servers. This includes the most lovely fellow Aquarian Bobbi followed by Harrison, Abbey, Faith, Valentina, Daniella, Belan. Shout out to Yvonne from housekeeping and a special shout out to Matteo ciao! Thank you for the awesome breakfasts and lastly a huge thank you to Benny the Masterchef for putting together an amazing spread for dinner including one of the best cooked rib eye fillet I have ever had.
The food here at the Mercure really has to be experienced and I can’t rate the Mercure highly enough if staying anywhere in the area. Close to the airport and city centre with lots of on site facilities to enjoy. The Mercure is really transitioning into modern guest focused accommodation and all at a great price point.
I was particularly impressed with the recognition of all tiers of the Accor loyality program. Comp parking, tennis courts, pool spa food wow you will not even want to leave!
Thank you team Mercure and all the staff I didn’t get a chance to meet. Can’t wait to return under better circumstances.
Dean from Melbourne.

Our first impression was that it was nice - big atrium seating and reception area, lush gardens, nice pool, and friendly reception staff. Sadly, from there it went down hill. The room was tiny and the bathroom even smaller. The door to the bathroom couldn't fully open as it hit the toilet. The shower stall was spacious but there wasn't enough conditioner in the dispenser for one person let alone both of us. To access room service you had to scan a QR which would have been impossible for many elderly people such as my mother-in-law who can't use a smart phone due to vision issues. She can use magnification to read a hardcopy menu. There was only one accessible power point in the sleeping/living area. The rooms weren't well insulated and thus we very noisy and there wasn't a phone in the room so if you had a question for reception staff you had to walk back to the Atrium Reception area. Had there been a phone in the room we would have called Reception about the children running back and forth yelling and squealing after midnight. Who wants to get dresses at 1am to make the trek through a garden on a narrow path to ask Reception to contact the lazy, neglectful parents? All in all we didn't think we received value for money.

I had a great experience staying at the Mercure in Townsville. The check-in process was smooth, and my room was nicely prepared for my arrival, despite booking it just an hour before. Everything was nearly flawless until I found a dirty hand towel with a long strand of hair. However, since I was staying alone, it didn’t bother me too much to have it changed.
I loved hanging out by the pool with the bean bags, which were perfect for unwinding. The property also offers laundry facilities, which are convenient if you need to wash your own clothes. Additionally, there are several eateries just minutes away, as well as a shopping mall nearby.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this property.

A comfortable business/holiday class hotel. The hotel is proximate to the airport and city centre, both a 5 minute drive away. The hotel front facing accomodation is in a U shape facing the pool and bar/restaurant. Rear rooms face a lake. A large shopping centre is a 10 minute walk and a selection of fast food restaurants are next door. Although close to a major road the hotel is buffered from noise by its parking lot and vegetation. The breakfast is average and they are a bit tardy in replenishing items later in the breakfast sitting. The dinner service is good, with a varied menu, reasonable priced and efficient service. The room was pretty standard but did have a large bathroom with a shower only. The room didn’t have a microwave but did have a good sized refrigerator and a safe. Front desk service was efficient and professional.
I’d stay there again if in Townsville

Pool great, open till 10pm, gave us a late checkout till midday and normal 11am checkout is great. Staff very nice across the hotel. We felt the management team could show a bit more initiative over the following to help guests have a good time and we did mention this to staff but not management. We were a family of a few families staying over Xmas. We all had the Xmas buffet and after lunch wanted to relax by the pool and have a few drinks. We were told you needed to have a meal (with knife and fork so no chips) to order alcohol. After the buffet this was not an option and a big expense too. They could have preempted this licensing requirement and provided food (low cost option) so people could enjoy a drink without having to pay for a meal they didn’t want after the buffet. They would have made their money back with drinks people would have bought. We were also told no food by the pool (we did bring a few snacks later for the kids) and also when we had two outside guests we felt that was being frowned upon even though they didn’t swim and bought a meal from the hotel. We ended up buying meals for the kids but by then couldn’t be bothered over the alcohol! So we really did like the Xmas buffet but then felt these rules were over the top and could have been managed better without breaking licensing rules on Xmas afternoon to allow people to relax.

Dear Loveroftravel2, Thankyou for taking the time to comment on your recent stay with us at Mercure Townsville. With regards to drinks on Xmas day, the QLD liquor act prevents us or any other establishment from serving alcohol without a meal on both Good Friday and Xmas Day. Unfortunately this is state law and not something we can be flexible on as the fines are quite excessive for the individual and the hotel. Kind Regards

It was actually my partner who stayed 2 nights here late July & found it be so good we have booked another 8 days for Early December. They have their own Restaurant serving a buffet breakfast along with lunch & dinner. The location is excellent being a short taxi ride to the airport plus a 5 minute walk to the large Castletown Shopping Plaza as well as plenty of fast food shops at the rear of the Motel

I arrived in Townsville for a few days whilst looking for permanent accomodation (relocating due to work). I thought I would stay here as I have stayed in Mercure at other locations and would be assured a quiet, clean space to stay. However that was not to be. My stay was booked under amex travel. I stayed three nights here. I am also an Accor silver member but as
Whilst some attempt had been made to clear the room for a new occupant, the room itself was the worst I have stayed in. They put me on ground floor near the pool. This hotel has clearly been flooded before with rust on the door edges. The walls were dirty, carpets stained (see photos). All the furnishings were very old, and they have not been making a proper effort to clean with dirt caked around the nooks especially around the mini bar fridge. There was nothing positive about the way this room looked and I was honestly shocked. I felt like this would be a one star hotel at best.
The bathroom was clean, and there were some very basic amenities provided Due to covid the hotel policy was to not provide daily cleaning and they instead asked we approach the staff for amenities as needed.
I did not use the hotel restaurant instead choosing to eat outside.
Overall I am disgusted this is the quality Mercure are providing, and the manager should be shamed for this. My nightly rate was $150, booked under AMEX travel.

Stayed for 3 nights, room was smallish but enough. Slightly dusty on the minibar counter, lots of bugs. Maybe because of the lawn just in front of the room. Nice view of lake just steps aways from our door. Room service will charge $10 for room delivery, otherwise you can pick your orders up yourself at the Celcius restaurant. No blackout curtains, only three pillows provided for a queen bed. Location is great, there’s fast food place surrounding hotel. Castletown Shopping centre right next door. Check in and check out was fast and efficient. Pool was great and opened until 10pm. Overall, we had a lovely stay.

Actually very nice and spacious in the style of a more luxurious American motel - several parts of the building connected by walkways with pools, garden areas, parking spaces. This Mercure is a 4* hotel, but by other Accor standards it is only a 3* hotel in terms of the facilities (no bathrobes, no slippers...) and the quality of the furniture. But above all: the place is completely worn out with dirt stains and scratches on the doors, chipped paint on the floorboards, etc. The staff both at reception and in the restaurant are very friendly and efficient, and the quality of the food is also quite good.

We had a mixed experience here. The pool is lovely and our accommodation was basically fine. As others have noted, though, the hotel restaurant is terrible -- awful food, and the staff are just plain unfriendly. After one visit there, we didn't go back, because who wants to be treated like that on vacation? That meant we had to go off site for every meal, which is not what we had in mind when we booked here. Coffee drinkers note: they only provide instant coffee. That seems low class for such a pricey place.
I got the scare of my life in the middle of the night. It was 3:30 am and I couldn't sleep, so I was sitting on the sofa in our darkened unit. All of a sudden, a man in dark clothes comes up onto our porch and tries to open the door to our unit! Luckily, it's locked, so he moves on. I called the front desk to report it, and they said it was just security making sure doors were locked. WTF??? At least tell people this might happen. I thought someone was trying to get into our unit. In 2 different conversations with the front desk, they were very dismissive of my concerns.
Between the poor treatment at the restaurant and the poor treatment by the front desk staff, I would not stay here again.

Hi. Pool is not heated & as I am a local I would say too cold to swim in August but many many people from down south find it lovely & do swim at this time so I have prob just acclimatise too well to the north. Haha
The Strand is extremely popular & you can swim there. You can catch a bus there from Castletown Shopping Centre that is close to Mercure or a taxi would not be too expensive Be aware public transport on weekends is not frequent. Pool is saltwater chlorinated combo
We do not have Uber in Townsville
Hope this helps you out & you enjoy your visit to Townsville
