In January to early February 2025, my son and I spent three weeks here. For half our stay we were in the Standard Access Cabin, and then we moved to the Deluxe Access Cabin for the remainder of our stay as the Standard was booked out.
Being only a few minutes from Townsville University Hospital meant that we didn’t have far to travel each day, which was a big bonus.
It was lovely to be in a place which was advertised as accessible, and it was. We were pleasantly surprised. The fact that I was able to easily get around the cabin, meant that I could relax, and so could my son. It was also lovely to enjoy the beautiful well maintained surroundings and enjoy the bird life.
I found that I enjoyed the Deluxe Cabin’s accessible kitchen as it was a dream to cook in as it really was accessible. I didn’t get a chance to take a picture, but it is as advertised.
Both Cabins had plenty of space for me to get around in my wheelchair. It was nice to stay in a place where the door handles and switches were accessible.
What I liked about the Standard Access Cabin was that there were down lights above the queen bed, and a switch on each side of the bed, which was easily accessed from bed. This feature wasn’t in the Deluxe Access Cabin. This meant I had to ask my son to turn out the light, and then I had to read by torchlight. Not fun.
The bedside table was at least 30cm from the bed. I’m short and found it difficult to reach the items on my bedside table, and there was no bedside light.
Other than those minor inconveniences, I would suggest that management put in a ramp at Reception. If my son had not been able to drag my wheelchair over the step, or if I was in a power wheelchair, I wouldn’t have been able to enter Reception at all.
Naomi and Kellie, as well as the owners, Colin and Violet and other staff members, were super helpful during our stay. If we needed towels, or wanted to changes sheets more regularly than the usual weekly schedule, they brought towels and sheets when requested.
If we return to Townsville for a holiday, I will definitely be staying here again.

Good facilities. Awesome pool. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff who made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. As we were camping the camp kitchen was very conveniently located close to our site and contained everything we needed.

Stayed in a motel room this visit. The room was a basic motel room with a bathroom, a small bar fridge, and a kettle. Tidy enough. The pool area is great for kids. The water slides were a massive hit with my little one. Close proximity to shopping centre with everything you would need to get you through.

Welcoming and efficent staff. My son loved the pool and jumping pillow. Although this is close to highway I had very little vehicle noise. That was surprising. I stayed in a hotel room and the rooms were very comfortable, quiet, and great water pressure. Next to a service station for last minute purchases. Very clean. We will be staying here again next year when we come back to the workshops we needed to attend.

The pool area and slides were awesome kids enjoyed it however everything else is very run down and old. The chairs in the pool area need to be replaced, I sat on 1 and it broke and I am not a big person, the one my husband sat on was been held together by duck tape. I would highly suggest you book the deluxe cabins we stayed in a 2 bedroom standard and everything was old and needs replacing. We would have booked a deluxe cabin but everything was booked out. The fridge was rusty, the couch was dirty and looked like it it had never been cleaned ever! We put a blanket over it. Some of the sheets were stained and we had ants everywhere! Found roaches in the room with bunk beds. The bed in main room wasn’t comfortable you would lay in the middle and it would sink in, and wake up to ants on you. Floors weren’t vacuumed prior to us arriving or if it had was very rushed. We did put the bin outside keep the ants out and kept the place spotless to avoid ants, roaches in. We have stayed at plenty of the big4’s and have been clean so a little disappointed with this one.

We stay in Dicovery parks regularly as generally they are kept very well. Dropped into the Townsville one a couple of nights ago and definitely not up to the usual standard. The camp kitchen Bbq plate was buckled and had a large crack in it. Used one near our camp but had no tap any where nearby so couldn't clean it also the auto on off switch was broken so had to turn the gas on manually. The ensuite was full of frog faeces and frogs. The entry to the site was overgrown by trees so very difficult to get in. Then we went to Airlie Beach Discovery which restored my faith in the brand.

Advertising makes it look great for kids, in reality, resort style pool is actually very mediocre with one broken toddler slide and one very old worm/caterpillar (?) slide. Smallest jumping pillow I've ever seen in any park. Playground looks fairly new but only for toddlers as it is small. Best feature for kids are 2 slides that are part of a new but small splash pad area. Accommodation is reasonable for price but you definitely notice the Highway noise.

We stayed in a 'motel room'. Thankfully, just for one night. Even in a standard room a toaster is usually provided, but no. One of the teaspoons with the mugs was dirty, with the leftovers with what I imagine was yoghurt. The bed side tables were thick with dirt, which I cleaned. We went to the 'camp kitchen' to use the microwave. This is the poorest version of a camp kitchen I have seen in my 6 years of travel. Overall a let down.

We picked this site for its location as a stopover on our motorhome tour and it was ideal right beside the A1. The site itself was clean with all the facilities you need and it was quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a regular bus into town.
