Great location here, friendly staff. The beach lagoon is directly across the road, resteraunts and Pubs walking distance.
We had a 1 night stay here with our dog, which they were very accommodating of. There is a dog friendly bar and resteraunt directly out front that was also very convenient for us to take the dog to.
The room it self was basic but ok, lacking in cleanliness, but we had a dog with us so who are we to complain really.
Would reccomend this place for work accommodation or a night or 2 stop over.

We have been here quite a few times with different managers. Staff are friendly but other areas are a concern. Both “ lounge chairs” in our room have lost their support and you sit in them and feel like you are sitting on the floor. Proving difficult to lift yourself out. There was a painted patch on the wall where the TV was. Having the TV on the bench makes it difficult to watch while in bed … as you can’t sit on the lounge. Also the shade sail has been removed from the pool and in summer in Townsville, the water has been stewing in the sun. I possibly would only come back if there was no other accommodation. Which is a shame as it’s situated at the quieter end of the strand.

I have walked past and driven past Shoredrive motel many times. Recently I had a short stay there.

I had a very pleasant experience. The room was clean and quiet. Parking isn’t allocated but I almost always parked outside my room.

The staff were always friendly and willing to help.

The bar is amazing and is a great place to have a drink with a beach view.

Start with positives, clean rooms (inside) location right on the beach, wifi works well, communication about our deluxe room not being suitable for booking with pet

The negatives paid for a premium ocean room upfront for 4 nights and was assured on phone would be swapped out for a similar standard as had a small dog, what we got was a room straight out of the 80s, a family room with 3 beds no less. When we queried it, was told this is our best option as other rooms were literally just a bed, and much smaller.

Ok, we thought not ideal and felt a bit ripped off, but our choice was to travel with our dog so ok work with it.

Then the real crap started, our room was right next door to a kitchen of a busy restaurant, the restaurant used external ( I hope temporary ) refrigeration that was you guessed it parked outside our room. On one side of our door old boxes and other restaurant clutter, the other a compressor going off attached to a refrigerated trailer (one of 2). Then the poor staff had to walk past the room window over 80 times (we counted one night) each time 2 doors creaking and slamming to get provisions, this would go on until approx 11:30pm every night.

The real fun was renovations in the same restaurant starting with drills at 7am, but it was okay as the mattresses (remember we had 3 beds for us both) kept us awake anyhow, as they were as old as the 80s decor and went some way to keeping a 30-year-old marriage in form, as we rolled towards each others embrace at every opportunity in the pit that I think was the middle.

We left a day early tempted to give the room away but figured why share the misery?

I wouldn't normally write a review as having worked in tourism and owned tourism businesses, I know it can sometimes be a bit hard to get things right, but having had a chat 3 times felt compelled as they simply couldn't give a shiiiite, offered no partial refund nor even a 10% dinner discount. Citing you used booking.com smile bs more smiles, more bs can't do anything *BS did I mention work in tourism

Up ya game, I won't even mention how the pool looked compared to marketing photos, makes me laugh too much, if I was so sleep deprived I would bother to upload photos.

This place unfortunately looks nothing whatsoever like the photos advertised. I chose it because it was cheap, but the photos showed a modern bathroom and reasonably looking rooms with sinks, kitchenette etc. A modern bathroom is important to me as a lady traveling.
I sure did not get this! The room was something out of the 70's with no modernisation. The shower curtain rail was about to fall down, the beds were so old they had big sags in them, the was only a bowl left to wash up in, not one piece of dinner set matched, the decor was so outdated with old tiles in the bathroom and rusted up loover windows, florescent lights (broken outside my unit where I wanted it for safety), an old in the window air-condition unit that worked for one day and rattled so badly I had to get up and turn it off, after this I couldn't even get it to work, an old rusted fan that was probably my saviour in a hot climate, no hand soap supplied and the beds were not remade after 3 days as advertised.
From here it gets worse - at 12 midnight I was awoken by yelling and bashing buy a guy trying to get into my unit. I got up to go to the loo and turned the light on - the looser windows would not work as rusted up, and the next thing he was trying to climb in my toilet window. Being on my own I was terrified and did not sleep the rest of my stay, it was a horrific experience.
On a plus the staff followed up on what happened, apologising and were very empathetic to my ordeal.

Great and friendly staff. The strand, the rockpool and beach just footsteps away. Resturaunt was phenomenal with a great menu. Shame I couldn't stay for longer! Will definetly be coming back! I stayed in the spa suite with a balcony. Photos don't do it justice.

Location is lovely, and it was very quiet, bed was very comfortable and linen was impeccable, however the room is tired and in need of TLC. The 'knob' for the fan switch was missing and required a great deal of twisting of the small 'stick' that stuck out to turn the fan on. The cold water tap was also just about falling off the wall. We didn't complain about any of this, but I wish I had considering the conversation I had with the manager on the way out. We were travelling with our 14 month old daughter, and we always take everything we need for her (cot, linen, towels etc) with us. There was no option to select infant in the booking, and as she is under two I was under the impression she wasn't classed as a child, particularly as she is not old enough to sleep in a full size bed alone. She was a bit upset when we put her to bed at 7:30 (strange place, out of routine etc) but she had calmed down and was fast asleep by 8pm and didn't stir till morning. When we were packing up the in the morning (7:30am) she was again out of sorts, but we kept her as entertained and quiet as possible. Upon checkout the manager asked me how many people I had in the room, and when I said two plus an infant, but that we bring everything for her ourselves, he told me that this should have been mentioned in the booking. I explained there was no option for infants in the booking system, and he said I should have told them on check-in and basically chastised me, telling me he didn't know what I did at other motels but it wasn't acceptable. I got the impression that he either wanted to relegate all 'families' to the back of the motel so as not to upset 'more important' guests, or that he felt he should have charged us more for having a 14month infant sleeping in the room, but either way we drove away regretting that we had chosen this motel. Shame, because the location to the Rockpool would make it a great place for families. If our daughter had been screaming all night I would understand, but we had the lights out by 8pm. I wonder if he would have confronted a couple who had enjoyed a vocal session of lovemaking well into the early hours of the morning as quickly as he did a pregnant woman with a little one?

This Motel seems to be in the process of renovating - our room was mid process - the bed and bedside tables appeared new but the remainder of the room was very dated. Clean and functional- aircon, TV, lights all in working order. The best feature of Shoredrive is the location, right on the Rock Pool end of the Strand, walking distance to many Restaurants , Pubs and Coffee Shops . The Strand is a beautiful family area that has crowds of people taking advantage of the beautiful climate and activities on offer in the area.

My partner and I stayed at the shore drive motel for one night in a basic room. We asked for a 2pm checkout and they said that's fine then in the morning we had 2 cleaners walk in on us while we were sleeping, waking us up. First time was at 8am and the next at 10am then we had to tell them ourselves we had late checkout. Then when my partner walked out to go get us food at 1pm the staff lady accused us of smoking in the room, when of corse we didn't, and then asked when we are checking out even when she was the person who booked us for the 2pm checkout. Never will we go there again, very unprofessional and rude!

We have not stayed here before but definitely will be again and recommending others also. The staff were all so friendly. Liz couldn't do enough for us and was so helpful, polite and professional. Thank you to all the staff at Shoredrive for the pleasant and friendly atmosphere you provided for our stay. It was very much appreciated. Kind Regards Tina Diamond
