Great location, stunning views! The apartment we stayed in was massive. The balcony furniture was upended and in pieces when we arrived, we didn't mind as it wasn't wide enough to sit on and enjoy. The view from the couch was perfect. The shower in the main bathroom was faulty but we worked around that. I dont recommend checking in on a Saturday as the reception closes at midday, but the apartments are not ready until 2pm, meaning we had 1 key until the official check-in Monday morning. Would make it very difficult with more than 2 people. The indoor heated spas were lovely, the outside areas looked nice. The beach front area with lounges and tables looked amazing - unfortunately we were attacked by a dog. The owners were trying to hold it back, while assuring us it was lovely and would never hurt anyone - meanwhile the dog was growling, foaming at the mouth and trying to continue its attack. The staff at reception were quick to go and address the problem but we never heard back. The area is easily assessible by the public straight off the beach, but we think the people lived in one of the apartments in the building. Medium sized white/pale dog. Watch out. Also if you need a GoExplore card be sure to not rely on Surfers Aquarius to sell you one. It is listed as an official place to buy one however they had 'just run out' of cards. I was advised to purchase a GoExplore card at a tram stop nearby but unfortunately you can't purchase the Explore option at tram stops. Plan ahead. Lovely views and location.

Friends asked me to plan this trip, as I've been to the GC so many times, so especially for the location & view, I booked us here which was my 3rd time.

The only real negative was that when I phoned to confirm the booking, they confirmed our 2 apartments were on levels 31 & 32. This was great, so we could just use the stairs to visit each others place. But we arrived to 32 & 16. I asked reception the next day & they had no higher up room to change 16 to & said the person on the phone shouldn't have promised 31/32 to me.

Apart from that, the apartment on 32 was great. Amazing views, keycards always worked, beds comfy etc.

They don't loose a mark for the spa pool breaking down one day, as they have two & the broken one was fixed within 24 hours.

Location is still perfect, where you simply walk out the beach side of the resort to the new boardwalk & either head south towards Broadbeach, or north towards Cavil Ave. We hardly ever needed transport.

I'll happily stay a 4th time :)

We stayed on the 36th floor in a deluxe 2 bedroom apartment and if all the rooms in this category are like this, I'd book it aagin. Looks like it has been renovated/refurbed. Very modern inside with everything we needed. Can't say what other rooms on the levels or the categories are like but pay a bit extra and stay in one of these rooms. Good night sleep, comfortable beds, clean, staff friendly and felt if there was any issues they would sort it. The surrounding extras such as tennis courts x 2, pool areas inside and outside where clean and presentable. We didn't visit the squash court and basketball court nor the mini golf area. Breakfast was at Northcliffe Surf Club, an 8 minute walk away. Have booked to return in October. Sooner if we can get away again. It is a walk from the hustle of surfers paradise, only a $10 uber fare each way away if that. Absolute beachfront-age where you can walk for hours.

Seriously underwhelmed by quality of old and dated furniture in Unit 25A Paid $3,600 for 9 nights. Not a single coat hanger for anyone, had to ask for second towel on day 5, Treated poorly by front desk staff named B when rang to report Wi-Fi not working. Rang twice a day for 4 days before a technician sent. When front desk staff came to try and fix Wi-Fi herself on day 2 I showed her dirt and building refuse from carpet laying left on floor behind shutters, she took a photo and never bothered to send anyone to clean it. Still there on day 9 checkout, Unpleassnt treatment
Only good thing about unit was the view. Should have read trip adviser before I booked with booking.com who only publish good reviews.

Response from Surfers Aquarius, General Manager at Surfers Aquarius

Hello Gail, As per my response on booking.com - As an accommodation provider, it is a shame that we are not given the same privilege to be able to post our own photographs. Unfortunately there are a few errors in your story. On day 1, the manager came up to the unit to reset the modem. Day 2, again the manager came up to the unit with 2 different modems to try and source the problem. Day 3, a technician was contacted to come and investigate the problem. Day 4, the technician came out and investigated and resolved the issue for you. Compensation of $50 was offered for the inconvenience of the 3 nights without internet. In regards to the dirt and building debris, the debris was from the main bedroom shutters being smashed together, Nothing was mentioned by yourself to clean or remove as you were just making us aware. The carpet and two boxes of tiles were from recent renovations in the unit that the owner has left in one little section of the wardrobe. Please note upon your departure our housekeepers found the unit to be extremely messy with food in all 3 bedrooms, food on benches and in fridge, Dirty dishes throughout the apartment as well as what appeared to be tomato sauce over the kitchen cupboards. Also when departed, we asked where the unit keys where and you said in the unit. Only one key was in the unit , not the 2 given at the time of check in. Kind Regards Management.

We booked a Superior Apartment based on the Internet photos which show renovated bathrooms and kitchen compared to old style for Standard Room. Unfortunately we ended up in an old style room with an ensuite that looks 30yrs old and smells of stale cigarette smoke. There was also hair in the shower and a crack in the shower screen, makeup stains on the doona as well as crumbs left on the kitchen bench. We asked to be moved but had to wait for the next day for the manager to be at work. The manager came across as very abrupt and not particularly sympathetic. She did however try to give us a different room but one without full ocean views so, considering I had already stayed one night and couldn’t be bothered packing up all our stuff when we only had 2 more nights I decided to stay and just use the main bathroom. I believe the photos on the internet should be changed to correctly represent what you’re going to get as the disappointment of unmet expectations is the worst thing. If I were to stay again I would have to book a Deluxe Room.

We booked through bookings.com a few months ago and when we arrived found out there were renovations on the floor above us, we had not been informed of this and were told it was “In the fine print” which we pointed out it was not, the response was it should be on bookings.com which it still is not.
We were woken by Jack hammering at 7:30am to be told that shouldn’t have happened but they can’t control contractors.
All staff were dismissive and rude, if we were told of renovations we would not have stayed here and even asked if we could get a refund so we could leave this was not an option.
We were offered a 100 dollar voucher for our next visit which we declined as we will never stay at this place again.
Do yourself a favor and avoid like the plague.

Hi Shelly, We are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your stay at Surfers Aquarius. Our staff tried their best to offer you assistance with even offering to move you apartments but you advised that you were not wanting to move. We do have renovations happening on a few different levels which is stated on our website and we have asked our booking.com representative to ensure this is also on the fine print of the guests confirmation email. Again we do apologize for the inconvenience and please feel free to contact us if you wish to discuss this further. Kind Regards Management

Our family of 4 were to stay 2 nights in a 3 bedroom unit however we had to leave on the second night because of a terrible loud noise (like a jet engine) inside our room. I rang reception during the day and asked if there was construction on a floor near us. Reception said she would find out however she never got back to me. Later that night the noise was ridiculously loud. I rang reception which diverted to the security guard. He advised that the noise was caused by the wind vibrating against defective balcony rails. He also advised that Management knew about the problem. This means they would have known about the problem when I rang them earlier. Had they been honest, we could have changed rooms or found another hotel. The kids couldn't sleep and neither could we so we packed up at 11:30 pm. We stayed in room 25A. We paid over $400 for a night for a room in which we could not sleep or have a conversation in. I emailed reception the next day and advised them of the situation and requested a refund for our second night. Reception advised it was the wind and it was out of their control. This was outrageous. It was not the wind alone. We have stayed in plenty of hotels during wilder wind and weather. This is a problem specific to this hotel. They did not reply to my second email about my conversation with the security guard. I do not recommend this hotel. Reception offered us $100 off our next stay but would not refund our second night or reply to my second email.

Hi Allie, I am sorry to hear that your stay was disrupted by the strong winds we have been experiencing over the last few weeks. Unfortunately this is completely out of our control. I have worked in the building for 3 years and have never had this problem. I have also spoken to our body Corporate maintenance manager who has also been in the building for 3+ years and again never experienced or aware of this problem or sound. Apologies for not replying to the 2nd email but this was not received. If you would like to discuss any further please call me on 0755389466. Kind Regards Surfers Aquarius Management

We were provided with a spacious 2 bedroom apartment on the 27th floor with great balcony and unobstructed views up the beach to Surfers Paradise (and beyond). That's about all the praise we could find for this very, very tired apartment. All the facilities were well overdue for replacement, the oven only worked occasionally and the crockery and cutlery were an unhygienic disgrace - only one sachet of dishwashing powder was provided so it was obvious the previous occupants put their final load of washing on a rinse cycle only judging by the dried food scraps caked on the plates and stuck to the cutlery - and the cleaning crew clearly didn't notice (care?) when they emptied the dishwasher. Also, electricians turned up unannounced to replace a number of broken down lights - some notice from the front desk would have been appreciated. Not a property I'd ever recommend. Needs a massive refurbishment folks!!

Stayed here three nights.

Lovely beach views and super close to the beach.

Was pouring rain but heated indoor pool was great! Undercover secure parking and easy lift access was handy

We initially stayed in an unit on 31st floor which definitely needed an upgrade as some fixtures very dated, musty damp smell and furniture broken/needed repair (couch, vanity and chairs etc). Moved to another unit promptly which was much more suitable and enjoyed our stay.

Very quiet complex with mix of residents and guests. Appeared like lots of renovations/revamps happening and complex generally very well maintained

No you don't get to choose. All the apartments are privately owned and reception request the date you want and what ever ones are available are the ones you get. They choose. You can request a higher/lower floor, one bedroom or two bedroom or family unit.
