Booked a spa suite for three nights from 27-30 December. Room are adequate for our need, a little dated. Could do with some plastering and painting in some areas. Nice pool area, spa and sauna. Basic buffet breakfast, bacon eggs, etc. Conveniently located near tram stop, easy to catch tram into Surfers or Broadbeach for dinner etc.

I seriously don't know why so many negative views. Sure for the price you shouldn't expect a 5star quality furnished hotel. We got a great deal on groupon - having read prior reviews I was a little apprehensive but we checked in late and was created lovely by staff. They are always smiling and say hi to you. Valet service is great!

We had a standard 1 bedroom room. Spacious enough for our 3 night stay. Sure the room does need a little lift but if your only using it to sleep then it doesn't effect it. I will say the road below is quite noisy (we are from somewhere quiet though) so depends what your used too. Didn't try the breakfast as was always out and about early. Bit of a walk for small family into surfers. But otherwise good location away from all the hustle and bustle. Would stay again. Thanks.

We were very grateful to stay in the Sovereign having previously stayed in poor hostels. The room was clean and well equipped on arrival. Our kitchenette had a fridge, microwave, plates, utensils, and washing up supplies. Most other items come at an extra cost such as milk and toilet roll. Additionally, housekeeping is not included and costs $35 per day which we were not expecting. The hotel is located in a good position with the tram station a few minutes walk away and the beach roughly 6 minute walk away. There is also a river in the opposite direction of the sea which is lovely to watch the sunset over! The pool was clean and relatively quiet though we did visit in early spring. Overall I would stay again and would recommend to a friend.

Our room rocked old 70s decor, had poor lighting and smelt old.

Staff were not very friendly, never greeted you, never offered to help with the bags, or to call a cab.

We called for towels to be bought up to our room as our room wasn’t cleaned one day. No apology and no towels where bought up, we had to get them ourselves.

The cutlery, plates and cups in the room where filthy even the draws and cupboards themselves

The bathroom lacked any life and the basin was stained. Not to mention the exhaust fan in there wasn’t working.

Happy hour is a joke, $1 saving on a couple of beers and wine.

On a plus side, it was cheaper accomodation, about a 12 min walk to surfers paradise and the pool looked ok.

The photos on their website and bookings.com make the hotel appear modern and clean however this is far from true. The hotel room had 70s decor and black carpet to like hide all the stains on the floor, except the one in my photos which, as you can see, looks like a skid mark.

Every photo I could find showed the bathroom and shower as being quite modern, ours had an ugly shower curtain. The sink had what I thought was someone’s foundation in the sink however upon inspection it was stained a brown colour and was weirdly raised.

One night it was raining and we had the air conditioner on in the room. There was literally water pouring through the air conditioner onto the floor, which likely accounted for the musty smell the room had when we arrived.

Don’t even get me started on the single bed which looked like it had been gifted to the hotel from what I can imagine to be an asylum of sorts.

All the cutlery and bowels were disgusting, our room wasn’t cleaned one of the days so we asked for some fresh towels which never came.

Pool was nice, was too scared to try breakfast, and was a 12 minute walk from surfers, definitely not 5 minutes like the hotel wishes it was.

Just visited The Sovereign for a weekend away. We booked the Spa Room which was nice and spacious, but had alot of defecs that was requiring fixing. Cracked architraves, hooks missing from curtains, the bathroom basin cracked and loose and the worst wifi ever. Free wifi is a 5 minute wait to download a webpage. Also what hotel/apartment know-a-days don't have cable TV (Foxtel)?
It is an ok hotel for a couple of days but no more.

By-pass this hotel there are plenty around. I booked accommodation yesterday for December and it's policy stated you can cancel up to 14 days before. They also offered for an extra $80 a refundable booking as an upgrade to the reasons for cancelling. I choose this option due to the covid and how things can change. I now want to cancel the booking as no longer needed and it is 3 months before we are due to go and they told me to contact the insurance company. I did not even know it was an insurance company, it did not state this when I booked. The insurance company told me to go back to the hotel, I went back to the hotel and now they are telling me to contact customer service. They claim that I have now forfeit my cancel of 14 before cancellation to nothing except the terms listed in the insurance details. This is an update of protection, not a replacement. Please be very careful who you book with, this hotel is not worthy of it's customers.

We booked a last minute trip to QLD as we needed to use a Jetstar credit.
This was the only hotel that was available for 3ppl for under $2k for 6nights during peak period.

Location:
It is in a good spot being only a 20min walk to Cavill and 5min to the beach.

The Room:
Was very spacious with a nice view from the balcony. Large bathroom and living space but that is where it ends.

The rooms are not serviced and if you like one you will have to pay and also pay for more towels, toilet paper, sheets etc.

The room we got said it had 1 large queen bed, we ended up getting 1 double and 1 single bed. The Kmart furniture was wobbly and unstable and had no interior design flow.
The walls were all banged up with scuff marks and dints. The bathroom walls had dust all over them and patches that were not even painted.
The carpet is old and smelt, so did the couch and the pillows which were once white need to go!
The aircon was dirty and needed a clean and the swing function was broken and did not work.
The tiles and caulking in the bathroom were mouldy and separating as it was obvious that it was poorly done. I also would have appreciated having more than 2 rolls of 1 ply toilet paper for a 6 day stay.

The hotel:
The reception was open and spacious offering drink and snacks for sale. Also the reception staff were helpful and friendly with each interaction.
The pool looked great and was large offering a kids section and a sand pit. The downfall was that the tiles in the kids section in the pool were missing and some pavers around the pool were loose and/or missing. This could be dangerous for unsupervised children.
There looks like there was a restaurant downstairs but looked shut down and out of business which is a shame!

With the hotel as it is I don’t think I would recommend this place to anyone unless they do some major upgrades and change the day to day operations. This place was not worth the money.

I booked this through Diamond Resorts for my daughter as it was a special occasion for her and her boyfriend. The confirmation booking said the room had a balcony, a very important feature for her ! She arrived on a Saturday and was given a tiny room, no window in the bathroom and one small window in the bedroom. She described it as worse than " staff quarters "and NO BALCONY. When she asked to be moved the receptionist said as it was the weekend their was no one in to authorise it and she would have to wait until Monday, as she was only there until Tuesday it was not worth it. She checked out and paid to stay in another hotel nearby. I had even emailed the hotel to ask for a nice room as it was a very special occasion. Disgusting service.

NO booklets in room for operating items and what is about in the area, NOphone in room, interconnecting room in foyer did not work. The receptionist told us just to knock on the door of the room we wanted to make contact with, so trapes up there, but cannot get in because of service door. Make a request to leave a note at reception, when those people asked about a message they knew nothing about it. There is NO restaurant at the hotel, food is quite a way from the hotel. There is NO adequate parking in the downstairs underground, and only a handful up top. Reception is not manned enough, so it is left unattended quite frequently. Rooms were not made up each day, not that bothered myself, but a booklet like I mentioned above, nothing in room, would of been handy to know that. Only few basics in the bathroom. wifi, given information, only to find, they had only written down password only, not the network name, so thus was not sure, which one to select in my settings. Also I had a price from booking.com clearly stating what the amount is to be paid to the hotel, which is not what I got charged. Only $10.00 difference but have never ever been told it was a charge for $5.00 per person in the room, but WHAT FOR??????
