For a relaxing holiday with no fuss consider this accommodation. It was perfect from the room, views, facilities and location. Rooms as you expect for the price. Views that you don't get sick of. Facilities of laundry, bbq, spas, pool and games/gym area were great. Location location I didn't have a hire car nor did I need one walked to Capri boat hire and the skypoint observation building and all the shops (bws across road and coles 2 blocks away) Right in the heart of Surfers! As for the bad reviews they want everything for nothing. The $3.00 beach towel hire was for the whole 5 day stay not each day. The staff were helpful and friendly. A/c and fan worked a charm. No room service while here 5 days but that's how they keep the prices down. Couldn't hear noise of road much as the surf is loud. I will definitely be back. Thanks again.

We’re from Canada, stayed in my sister’s residence. We just needed to have privacy for few days, then we reserved this place. Glad that our room facing directly to the beach. From our window we had spectacular sunrise view. About 5 minutes to the grocery or Cafe to get some good coffee is a bonus.
The hotel is standard, not new fancy building, but clean and well functioning.
There were 3 sets of cups, glasses and teaspoons. But no plate at all. We’re good, well prepared, we brought our own plates and utensils. You pay for extra fresh towel. We simply went to the laundry down stair to wash our cloths including towels. If you need cleaning service, you pay $20. We just cleaned everything like we do at home.
There’s $200 deposit the second you check in to make sure that you keep the property in good condition. So, first time when we stepped in our room, we filmed (video) and took photos every thing, same thing before checking out. Therefore the property and us could do cross check if something happened. I informed that to the receptionist. We enjoyed our 4 night stay, we’re sure the property of the hotel loves us too as we left everything cleaned. We didn’t even left any trash. Only near the toilet, and it’s not nasty … some toilet papers we used to dry the sink. Next time visiting Gold Coast this place will be the first one to consider as our stay. Good price, excellent location.

If you are looking to stay in the centre of Surfers Paradise, Chateau is a value for money option. I stayed 2 nights in mid December 2023, where booking only 1 month before my visit, Chateau appeared the best value option at $155 per night for an ocean view studio apartment with free parking (must put parking permit on dashboard). Note this room only did not provide twin sleeping options, where a fold out bed was an extra $25. One positive is the free parking, and checking in after hours was relatively straight forward, provided you have informed reception, paid your $200 bond, and received details of how to check in via the phone at the front door to gain access to your key in the safe. Bed was in a section with no doors, while living area was decent. The external spaces were a bit dated - needed to carefully walk down about 20 stairs to get to the pool, while the upper area and former tennis court area had cars parked. Overall my experience met / exceeded the price paid.

8 Night Stay just returned. Filthy room, old pictures stacked in an old op shop style cupboard which was the only clothes storage in the room. This room smelling throughout of old cooked fat…I had extreme angst and difficulty changing to another room on the second morning as the maintenance man who removed a fat coated, portable oven assured us we would be moved but senior reception staff (older lady) was extremely uncooperative until I asked for a refund. I was then found a room 5 floors lower and in much better condition than our first room. By this stage we were exhausted and 2 days in to our holiday. The new room was in a lot better condition in comparison to the first but quite filthy with damaged walls and peeling paint and laminate. Linen ( mid holiday ) service did not occur and I ended up having towels and sheets delivered to the room, changing the bedding myself and depositing the linen in a bag outside the door. The bag remained there for 16 hours before collection. No phone in room. I went down lift 4 times to reception to organise this. Afternoon junior staff were much more helpful. We love outdoors and spas etc but the spa is very dirty with a considerable body fat ring of brown at waterline that you can rub with your fingers but it is always there. The manager scheduled chemical cleaning of the pool deck tiles at 2 pm on one of the only sunny afternoons during our week and the smell, chemical, and hosing of tiles sent us scurrying from the area. I have stayed in many accommodations on this section of the Gold Coast and also here a while ago. We chose for proximity to Cavill avenue and beach. Never again!

Hi Julie, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent stay. We apologize for the experience you encountered, as it falls far short of the standards we aim to uphold. We understand your frustration regarding the initial room condition and the challenges you faced in addressing your concerns. Cleanliness and guest comfort are our top priorities, and we regret that we did not meet those expectations during your stay. Your comments about the room, and the spa area have been noted and will be addressed with our team. As we are self-contained apartments, a mid-stay service is not offered, we are sorry if this was not clear during the time of booking. We are pleased to hear that the junior staff were able to assist you more effectively, and we appreciate your patience during a difficult situation. We value your feedback as it helps us enhance the experience for all our guests. Thank you again for your insights, and we hope we can regain your trust in the future. Kind regards, Chateau Beachside

We just finished our second stay at Chateau Beachside. This hotel is simply great as a budget Hotel. The location right across from the beach cannot be beaten. All of the staff are nice and good at their job. Our room was very clean and spacious. One of the best things is the $10 breakfast voucher at the cafe across the road. Great breakfast and as nice a coffee as you can get. Our bed quality was great really comfortable. I see on other reviews that some customers have complained about the lack of air-conditioning. On any of the booking sites it is clearly stated that many of the rooms don't have aircon. The rooms have big sliding doors and windows and the sea breeze does the rest. One of my biggest priorities when travelling to the gold coast is parking. Chateau Beachside has ample undercover car parking so you can leave your car nice and safe during your trip. Chateau Beachside will definitely be our go to hotel on all future Surfers Paridise trips.

This property is in a great location and has everything you need for a holiday or short break at a reasonable price. Very big swimming pool that is nice and deep at one end. Surfers Paradise patrolled beach is just across the road, and you have easy access to Cavill Avenue Mall. The nearby Esplanade Walk takes you to neighbouring beach precincts to explore. Turn south and take a leisurely 25-minute stroll to admire the beachfront all the way to the new Jewel Residences. Here you can stop at the coffee shop there that has good seating in the shade.

Overpriced, dodgy and dated. Asked for additional towels and was told that it is a non service hotel and there is charge, $3 per towel. Don’t expect to get early check in. Some staff just rude and dismissive. Only redeeming quality is proximity to the centre of town. If you don’t expect much it may still disappoint you. For $300 a night, you can do better.

This hotel is priced appropriately for what you get. Our only complaint was the road noise. We booked to stay a Saturday night and because the location is so good, all you can hear are the hoons going up and down the esplanade. However, if you are not a light sleeper, or come prepared with ear plugs, this is the place for you. The view from our beachfront hotel room was unforgettable and the location puts you right near hundreds of places to shop, tour and eat. No issues with the shower, nice and hot and plenty of pressure. The room is dated, but clean. The property was built in the 70s, so no surprise there. For a small outlay, they could replace the very worn couch which has seen better days. A sign to show where to tap to enter the carpark would make life a bit easier for first timers. Parking was free, so for $145, this place was well priced, especially with the fantastic view where you can whale watch from the comfort of your room. My photos show the incredible view east and also to the south. Last photo is what you can see from the toilet! Not having air-con was not a big deal - the windows provide a lovely breeze. Didn't even need to turn on the overhead fan. A room with this view and location would be at least double the price in a newer building, so this was without doubt the best view we have ever had.

Where do I even begin? The staff looked like they despised working there. The room was absolutely disgusting. You felt so dirty and unhygienic even stepping foot inside. There were stains in the curtains, rips, the windows didn’t even work to open and close properly. You would walk on the floor and your feet turned black. You only got given 2 rolls of toilet paper for the whole week we were there. They don’t clean the rooms at all, only after you leave. So you’re stuck using the same towels for your entire stay, otherwise you have to pay for more. No cutlery or plates provided. We had to go to coles and buy our own paper plates and cutlery. NO AIRCON!!! I can not stress this enough. Feels like a sauna at night so you’re either stuck sweating all night or sleeping with the balcony doors open but wake up at 5am due to the loud street noise. They only provide a fan which honestly why even bother? They advertised for a microwave, only ours didn’t work. We had to go down to reception and ask for a new one. Hold on it gets worse… There’s no swipe card to get inside the building. Any random can come in and use the facilities including the pool, spas and sauna. My partner and I went down to the pool and was greeted by this creepy man who kept throwing me weird smiles. We knew something was off and everyone felt uncomfortable. We see him dive into the pool and what do you know. A syringe pops out of his pockets and is floating into the water!!! Little kids are swimming in this pool. Mate I was shocked and disgusted. We immediately informed staff at the reception and we later found out they weren’t even staying at the hotel, just men off the street. And unfortunately we didn’t even get a good price for this $hit hole. We paid $2000 AUS for one week. What a joke. Wouldn’t recommend.

Where do we even begin? We have no mention of any cleaning issues associated with your booking if you had reported any of these issues then we would have fixed it immediately. Our staff all have been working here for many years - absolutely no one despises working here and its insulting you make this assumption. You have booked a room with no air conditioning - completely your own mistake and before you accuse us that the website says we have air conditioning we clearly do not advertise the hotel or one bedrooms to have air conditioning. Are we suppose to control people on the street now? Completely not our fault if someone is on the street at 5am. Appliances break all the time with no notice - we replaced the microwave as soon as reported. We apologize for the gentlemen in the pool and our manager attended immediately to escort the man out of the property - we do the best we can to monitor the hundreds of people and tenants and guests of guests that enter the property. We leave the front door open during the day because if we didn't we would receive 100's of complaints from guests going over to the beach and not being able to get back into the property. Of course you paid top dollar you stayed in the most expensive month of the year after a absolute dismal two years due to Covid - your choice. Overall from what we can see - you originally booked the wrong room type and maybe should clearly read the amenities in these rooms that are available.

Unfortunately the location is all this hotel has to offer. Don't be fooled by the website pictures. We checked in to our room on level 7(a 1 bdrm unit) and Unfortunately we had to ask to be moved due to my husbands height vertigo, the staff were good & found us a room on level 1(a studio room). We set our stuff down in the room & went out for the afternoon, upon return we could hear a awful sound in the wall (was too late to call reception) that went on until at least 9am the next morning (sounded haunted). The next morning Me being me (previously working in the industry) decided to look under the bed, well didn't I find a surprise! A used TAMPON & water bottle, dust that clearly indicated it hadn't been cleaned in a while. We immediately went to reception to report our find, they were apologetic, unfortunately there wasn'ta suitablerooms to be moved too we were told our room would be thoroughly cleaned while we were out, we were also given a $10 breakfast voucher each. We went out for the day to return to it still under the bed. The receptionist came up & started to clean the mess, whilst doing so I checked behind the lounge to find Another used Tampon, this made us livid so we asked for a refund, they obliged & returned our money for the next night leaving us now with no where to stay. We eventually found somewhere out of town, being a Friday night this cost us more & cost us in transport. Sent numerous emails & phone calls to ask for a full refund, to only be returned a week later. Yes they issued us a full refund eventually but, it ruined our holiday & now we don't want to return again to Surfers Paradise. We understand it is a 3 star establishment but our finds are simply unacceptable. Let's hope they refurbish all rooms & give their Housekeepers a stern talking to or maybe even find new ones.

No sorry, the cafe is still there but just normal breakfast. We do sell $10 vouchers for the cafe across the road who do an extremely good breakfast for our guests.

There’s no “private access” to the beach as there is a road between the hotel and the beach.
Very easy to access though. Swimming during the day is ok. Can’t remember if the beach had life guards. If they do you must swim between the red and yellow flags at all times!!
I absolutely would not be swimming in the evening. Sharks like to feed right around sunset/dusk!!
Pool currently not heated. Waiting for installation of new parts- should be installed by end of august. Pool temp is held at 26C when heating on.
3 Spas heated to 35C
You have booked a cityview unit which is on the corner but at the back of the hotel. We have noted your request for a high level but this can not be guaranteed.
