Perfect location in the heart of Surfers Paradise and had full ocean front views. The main issues were the beds which were extremely uncomfortable and difficult to sleep on, especially the single beds. We had a standard apartment and the decor was very outdated. When we arrived there were no kitchen consumables supplied such as dishwashing liquid, dishwasher powder, dishcloth, tea towel, kitchen bin liner. It stated on website that this was supplied so likely an oversight but as we were there during public holidays there was mostly no reception staff to discuss this with. Also it did not state that there would not be a daily service or indeed any service for our 5 night stay which I assumed being part of Mantra Hotel group that this would be standard unless implicitly stated. 3 lifts but most of the time only 1 was working which for a 40 storey apartment building meant that the waits were sometimes quite long. Was expensive for a general stay at $500 a night for a 2 bedroom standard apartment but it was the Christmas period and most 4 star and above places were $500-$1500 per night. Overall enjoyed the stay and did not want to leave. I think this is likely a 3 star apartment with the views and ocean breeze bringing it up to 3.5 stars. There really was no faulting the location and the views.

Enjoyed my stay very much. The staff were welcoming and helpful. As an Accor Plus member I received a lovely welcome gift of chocolates, wine and other goodies which we all enjoyed. The hotel is in a great location and for Christmas stay the price was very reasonable. The apartment had 2 good sized bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen and 1 bathroom appeared to have been recently renovated. The views were excellent from living and both bedrooms and it was lovely to sit on the balcony watching the ocean and passing parade. The apartment had everything you needed with full kitchen laundry etc. Only downside was the air-conditioning did not work in main bedroom so it got pretty sticky at night as the living room aircon did not really make it thru to bedrooms and windows in there did not open. The hotel had a lovely outdoor pool, indoor pool, sauna and spa. There was also a lovely undercover BBQ area with plenty of room for a large family. All of this area was clean and well maintained with excellent toilet and shower facilities. The only thing I would suggest is that the outdoor pool would benefit from some cover over the lounges. The full size tennis court was great and booking was easy. All in all the Imperial Surf was a good value apartment stay with all the facilities you would want. It is in a good location with free undercover on site parking and light rail station outside back gate. It is within walking distance to Cavill Mall and there are restaurants and 2 x large supermarkets nearby. Pretty much perfect for family getaway.

Great location and friendly, helpful staff. Relaxing holiday location with well stocked rooms and amenities.
Every where we went someone was mopping, or wiping surfaces or gardening - property is in great condition and well maintained.
Walked everywhere - never had to use the car.
Plenty of supermarkets within walking distance, tram stop accessed directly from property, some good restaurant options.
So reasonably priced even for school holidays- we're coming back in December!

So the review options don’t allow me to choose the proper date of stay but the last time I stayed there was in 2021. It was my third and last stay at the apartments.

Unfortunately, the building had been affected by the new building next door. Every time we stayed there was issues with something not working or not in use. First the pool, then the lifts and lastly there were metal scaffolds all through the car park. It was actually worrying.

If you do choose to stay here, the positives are:
1) Friendly staff
2) Location is very central
3) Ask for a room with a sea view as it is front line and you don’t get a better view than that
4) Spacious apartments
5) Self-contained so the convenience of being able to have stuff in the fridge and being able to cook rather than go out all the time.

What could be improved:
1) Cleanliness level. It’s not a cheap apartment to stay at despite the age of the building, it is in a top knotch location thus the price. I get the feeling though that they go el-cheapo in housekeeping. Whilst this has been an issue every time, we were willing to overlook it because of location convenience.
2) Housekeeping. If the apartment is booked for four people then please leave enough towels and stuff for four people… On two out of our three stays we had to request extra’s to suit the number of people staying. Also, consider if the guests are staying for more than a couple of days and leave the number of things required for their whole stay. It’s annoying when you book to stay for 7-9 days but only get given enough toiletries for 2. We are paying per night so these things should come without having to ask.

I gave two stars because the last stay was below average and we have chosen not to return again. It’s a shame because the location and staff have been good but whoever decides and manages the housekeeping could use some guidance. Also the safety of the building after seeing the scaffolding underground put the nail in the coffin for us.

We are currently staying at Breakfree Imperial Surf, one of the Mantra Group brands. Despite being an old building, the apartment itself is very nice - kitchen and bathrooms have been renovated and the view from the 12th floor is fabulous. Some things reveal the building’s age - wardrobe interiors, for example, are a bit shabby and doors hard to slide, but that is not such a big deal. The staff are efficient and kind (a broken shower was fixed and light bulb replaced almost immediately when we reported it). School holiday prices are not cheap at nearly $4000 for 11 nights however what I am most horrified about is that when we booked there was no note about the construction going on next door. I spoke to both head office (to pay) and the reception at Imperial Surf before we arrived but there was absolutely no mention of it. The construction starts at 6:30am and is particularly noisy even with all doors and windows closed, and means you just can’t relax by the pool. The pool, thanks to the enormously high new building, no longer gets any sun at any time of the day which is also a big negative. So summing up, the apartment is nice, views lovely but be careful when booking that you know what you’re in for.

We stayed in the sub penthouse 31G and the room was brilliant. Being on the Esplanade you get uninterrupted views of the ocean and down toward Coolangatta. This room also has a huge patio area out back which gives you awesome views of the hinterlands. The room is very spacious with two decent sized bathrooms, the main one also has a single person spa bath. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooktop, oven and dishwasher. You also have a European style laundry with a front load washing machine and a dryer. 55 inch TV in the family room.
Would the family and I stay here next time we are in Surfers? ABSOLUTELY WE WOULD.
Thank you very much Imperial Surf we have had a family holiday that we will remember for a long time.

Misty couldn't have done more for us if she tried, and always with a smile.
We booked a standard unit rather than a renovated one, it certainly was old and had a few small issues but for the most part was very functional and most importantly comfortable. The beds and lounges are most important in a stay and both of these were great.
Only disappointment in the whole stay was that due to a sag in the tennis court it puddles water so twice during our 3 day stay the court was unable to be unlocked for us due to rain having fallen the previous day or night. The court and the view were the 2 main reasons we'd chosen this venue, well the view was exactly as requested anyway and the court was great when dry. A point worth mentioning is the 1.92m height of carpark - we had to remove our roofracks to fit under the building. Quite a few of the Breakfree hotels in Surfers seem to have this problem. The outdoor pool area was clean (although very noisy due to the carpark extraction exhaust being in the middle of it) the indoor pool and spa area including bathrooms seems quite new and very well presented. Loved the hot spa.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and were even permitted to leave our car in the visitor spot outside for a while after checking out giving us time to enjoy a final experience for our stay. Thank you!

Thank you for putting us on the 30th floor! The views were spectacular. We had the best time. We are locals but we still feel like we have been away on holiday. Would definitely return again. We had a lovely big, open plan apartment with the sea breeze flowing through everyday. Was great to see lots of cleaning and maintenance being done while we were there. Everything was clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful. Only a short walk into the heart of Surfers Paradise, you can't beat the location and the price.

I had read mixed reviews on this place but the one thing they all agreed on was the amazing review. So based on that I booked it and was blown away by how awesome the view was. We had the 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit (21 B) and had amazing ocean views in every room including the shower. The apartment had all the mod-cons, like dishwasher, aircon, ceiling fans and a great shower. Check in was quick and efficient with friendly and helpful staff. The free parking is a bonus as well. Didn’t really use anything in the kitchen as you’re so close to everything we ate out for all meals. The apartment was super clean, quiet and ideally located. It’s million dollar views without the million dollar price tag. Would definitely recommend and will stay here again.

We stayed in unit 31G at Imperial Surf. Wow !!
From start to finish the experience exceeded our expectations. Booking directly with Imperial Surf was easy and the price was very competitive.
Check in was quick and the lady behind the counter was very helpful.
The view was superb. I was concerned that The Meriton Building next door would impose on our stay .. but it didn't at all.
The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need to cook at home and Central Surfers was a leisurely 5 min stroll.
Pool was super warm both indoor and outdoor are heated .. Kids loved it !!
Just across the road is a patrolled beach and around the corner a beer shop and local store.
Only suggestion I would make .. add Foxtel !!
We will be back !!
