Stayed 4 nights from Boxing Day resort in great location however our room desperately needs refurbishment from torn curtains frayed carpet mould in the bathroom and graffiti in the bedroom.
Breakfast was the worst we have encountered to charge $27 for some cold eggs and greasy bacon was a joke and there was no drinkable coffee unless you paid extra.
This resort is letting down the Mantra name

Dear tracypI5973EE, Many thanks for taking the time to provide feedback following your recent stay with us. We appreciate your feedback on the room and will follow this up with urgency; we do apologise that you faced cleaning and maintenance issues in your room. Very sorry to hear that the breakfast was the worst you've encountered, after personally working in the restaurant over this period and looking after so many happy guests it's really disappointing to receive this feedback and can only offer our sincere apologies that this was not up to your expectation. Mantra Sun City resort uses the Accor recommended Nestle filtered coffee for our buffet breakfasts, a brand standard throughout the network. I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the coffee experience. Wishing you a very happy and healthy 2020. Warmest regards Damian Sillars General Manager Mantra Sun City

Hotel and environment was pleasantly comfortable and happy with our over all Stay. The only disappointment would be with the mantra group itself. Our original accomodation was at the towers of chevron which was then sold out and we were offered the sun city instead. Bit further out then what we would have liked. Also as we stayed 6 nights I would have like our rooms to be vacumned (I asked the service staff to borrow a vacumn but it had just died of Battery power). Breakfast was ok staff at front reception great.

Dear Kylie C, Thanks for sharing your experience regarding your recent stay at Mantra Sun City resort. I'm pleased that overall you enjoyed your 6 night holiday but do offer our apologies regarding the situation regarding the relocation. Unfortunately in Strata properties, sometimes things do go wrong and apartments become unavailable. I was reading some correspondence this morning regarding others that were moved out of Towers of Chevron due to a plumbing issue and some apartments flooding; I do hope that this was communicated to you. With regards to vacuum's, we do have these available from reception; this is a very confusing response you have received as the vacuum's are powered by electricity cord so I will be sure to follow up with the team. Thanks so much for the feedback on the reception team, we are most appreciative of this recognition. I do hope that we can welcome you back to Mantra properties again in the future. Warmest regards Damian Sillars General Manager Mantra Sun City

A great family hotel with a fun amenities such as waterslide, pool, spa, tennis courts, gym and fantastic location with public transport outside the door, a minute walk to the beach and 10 mins walk to Surfers Paradise centre. Quiet and peaceful sleep and lovely inviting lobby. Staff were super friendly, helpful and honestly have not experienced nicer staff anywhere else. I would loved to have given Mantra Sun City a 10/10 review but that came undone when we stepped into our room.
Beautiful view but the level of cleanliness and wear and tear was sub par for a 4 star hotel:
1-2 cm thick dust on skirting boards, door trims and cupboards
stains on flooring, walls, doors, lamps
odour in room and adjoining room (double entry space)
freezer box completely full of frost and unusable
wear and tear unsightly chipping on corners of walls
stains and filth on power sockets
broken ironing board
We had a discussion and decided rather than stress ourselves out by making complaints to management and appearing like "difficult" guests, we would just make the best of our stay and spend most of our time outdoors in any case. The bed, sheets, towels and shower/toilet facility were clean.
Another very annoying factor was the constant issues with the elevators not working and people being trapped in elevators. Very frustrating delays waiting to get between levels.
Despite the awful room experience we enjoyed our stay and using the facilities, would possibly stay again but make a request to be moved to a clean room next time. The cleaning standards need to be reassessed by management.

My family stayed in a two bedroom apartment with a beautiful ocean view. My 7 year old son loved the water slide. It was a bit rough and rugged for my teen girls. The pool area is beautiful, the large outdoor pool is perfect in the hot weather. We all loved the outdoor spa but it does get a bit busy. It is an easy 15 minute walk into Caville Ave or you have the option to jump on the tram at your front door.
The apartment was roomy and the beds are very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was average compared to other buffet breakfasts in other hotels.
We have stayed at the Mantra Suncity numerous times over the last 12 years and have to say the facilities and rooms are due for a refurbishment. Things just look a little worn, cracked, and stained. This time our air conditioning worked perfectly but we have had issues in the past in which we were moved rooms.

Hi there 968stephb, Thanks for choosing to stay with us here at Mantra Sun City once again for your family stay, we are pleased you had a great stay. We appreciate your commentary around the breakfast and assure you that during the peak of Summer, the restaurant is definitely very busy and we do try our best to look after our guests in the best possible way. We continually work with our owners on refurbishment programs and will continue to do so in the future. Thank you for the feedback on the air conditioning, please it provided a nice cool space over that very hot period. Warmest regards Damian Sillars General Manager Mantra Sun City

We really wanted to love our stay. Unfortunately only the ocean views kept us from giving this review a 1 star. We were assigned an apartment with air conditioning parts removed from the ceiling, with dirt and thick dust debris littering the floor. All air-con vents were black with dust and completely clogged in each room. Dark tufts of hair sprung out of the spa bath when we used it.
My husband became very ill over the week we stayed, which we attribute to the dust/debris/lack of cleanliness on entry, triggering his lungs, throat and nose to the point of us having to keep all balcony doors open to get fresh air, leaving us freezing.
Two of the four lifts were permanently broken down, leaving us with approx. 15min waits every time we want to travel to or from our apartment.
To top it off, we were slapped with a $66 carpet cleaning fee for 'stains'. We are clean freaks and were extremely careful to keep the apartment free from any debris on the floor, let alone staining the carpet, which itself was worn, tired and completely uncared for with spot marks throughout on our arrival.
I will definitely not be recommending Mantra Sun City to friends and family and am disappointed it managed to make a significant impact on our overall stay in Surfers.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay with us and apologies for the negative experiences you had during your stay. As our apartments are separately owned some of the features do differ from unit to unit although we are working on a number of refurbishments to keep our product up to date and in good condition and are constantly discussing this with the owners. I understand that this does not help the experience that you have had although we do appreciate all feedback and will ensure we address all issues for the future. Kind regards, Davinder Chaudhary Assistant Manager

Excellent 2 bedroom apartment great for family stay. Great location as well. Spacious and well-equipped. Full kitchen with microwave and oven makes it great for cooking for our 2 young kids. Wash machine and dryer was useful. Walk in wardrobe was a big WOW factor. Portable heater was useful when we shower kids in bathroom.

The location was great with only a two minute walk to the beach. The staff were engaging and knowledgeable. The room was okay but don't expect them to be cleaned on a daily basis. Also the breakfast was satisfactory but if you wanted non-instant coffee there was an additional charge.

If all you need is a place to sleep at night, this hotel was suitable. I stayed for 3 nights in October 2023, in a one-bedroom apartment. Here's my experience from arrival:
Was able to check in quite quickly, but the person who checked me in wasn't very friendly and shared no knowledge or where anything was in the hotel, including the lifts to get to my room, which would've been great to know rather than me looking around for signs/lifts.
All the lifts had a bad smell, but the smell got worse when I got to my floor (level 3). It made me feel slightly nauseous, but I can't pinpoint what the smell was. When my friend visited me in the hotel a day later, she also commented on the smell. The smell was also very prevalent in the room (301), but I tried to remedy that by opening all the windows/balcony doors.
The room I got given was a 'traditional' room AKA not modern, and desperately needed reviving. Wood from the doors were splintering and had missing locks, there were rips and tears in the curtains, a smashed panel on the balcony, and strange stains on the sheets on the bed.
Because of the GC500 approaching, I suspect I was given a subpar room because I paid less (through a Jetstar Holiday promotion), versus directly through the Mantra website themselves. They would rather give the better rooms to people who pay more?
The room itself, other than the smell and those things mentioned above was fine. The bathroom has hand wash, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner; so no need to bring those things with you. The kitchen has basic utensils, crockery and cutlery, pots and pans.
I have included some photos in this review of the room as a whole, and some specific things that I was less-happy about (like the torn curtains).
Because I was on the third floor, and had a 'hinterlands' view, that basically meant I saw the hotels and buildings across the road, and everything was very loud. I didn't see the point in asking for a different room, because I figured the person that checked me in would just say no, he didn't seem very inclined to be helpful.
The hotel is only about a block and a half away from the waterfront, and a 10 minute walk from Coles and Surfer's Paradise Beach. But the was LOTS of roadworks, and I'm not sure if they were all for the GC500, or just in general.
However the next day there was a wonderful person working, she had a NZ accent and was lovely, chatty and kind when I was asking about pool towel hire, car parking included in my room, etc.
Based on my experience I wouldn't come back here, unless all I needed was a place to rest my head for a night.

The second time my wife have stayed here & nothing has changed, we were welcomed in the best popular way, the young lady went through everything with me to make our stay comfortable. We had a great room on the 29th floor, great views of the coast, the room was well presented & a great nights sleep on a king size bed. There are cooking facilities which we did use one night as stayed in because the State of Origin game was on.
The train stop is virtually at the door & we used this service twice while we were there, once to travel to Southport & also Broadbeach.
