The Island Gold Coast hotel is often praised for its inviting atmosphere, with guests enjoying the spacious, clean rooms that blend boho and industrial decor. While many guests find the hotel's location ideal for beach access and local amenities, opinions on value are mixed; some cite cost-effectiveness, whereas others are dissatisfied with the noise level relative to the price.
Service is generally seen as friendly and professional, although there have been some mixed encounters. Amenities are appreciated, despite a few notes on kitchenette limitations and lighting issues.

We went for a family wedding and the venue (Glasshouse) which was at The Island Hotel did not disappoint. The decor and food was of a high standard making the wedding reception unforgettable. Unfortunately, the hotel only had one working elevator which clearly needs to be replaced as it could not service more than 5 people at a time. We booked a superior twin room and it did not feel or look superior at all. However, it was clean and tidy and room service kept our rooms looking clean. It was not as spacious as I would have liked, but it was clean and the beds were comfortable with good quality linen.
The snacks and 2 bottles of water (although there were 3 of us) was nice to have each day along with the complimentary tea, coffee, milk, etc. We paid for breakfast and that was lovely. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect - we enjoyed having breakfast with the cool breeze coming through the windows. The bar and restaurant area was very breezy and we were just a stone's throw away from the tram, shops and nearby hotels. The beach was just minutes away. You pass quite a few eateries and shops so it was very convenient. The information booth was very handy and we were able to save a lot of money from Uber by catching a train/bus to Harbourtown for some serious retail therapy (all day pass was only $10 for public transport).
Not bad for a 4 star hotel. The staff were great.

First Impressions: overall the overview of the front of the building is quite nice and presented well. Kept clean and tidy. Loved all the plants upon entry. What can be a bit confusing is having the reception up a few levels, accessible by the lift to the left and not located on the ground floor.
Location: centrally located in surfers, Only a block from Cavil ave & a short walk to the beach.
Rooms: First impression of the King Suite (pool side) is clean, spacious & beautifully furnished in a boho / industrial style, however some things to note: - The Kitchenette is limited to a microwave, toaster and a mini fridge (+ dishwasher) so if you’re creative you can make good use of it and have breakfast or snacks in room. However for the space it takes up the hotel could have made it more useful and included even a hot plate to allow more use of their facilities. - The windows appear to be single glaze so keep in mind the Rooftop Bar on the Terrace below is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday: 11am – late. On these nights the music travels up the building so don't plan on getting an early night sleep on these nights. - LOVED the high quality KM shampoo & conditioner.
Parking: They do have limited underground parking on site, however we opted for parking at the Bruce Bishop Secure Parking complex just behind the hotel and it was much cheaper!
Overall the hotel is beautiful & trendy. Just need to keep in mind on the weekends it will be awhile before you get to sleep because of the noise.
Other tips: If you have the time, give the sports bar in the hotel a go! Great woodfired pizzas for a snack!

Hello Pennyandco, Thank you for taking the time to send your review and feedback, we very much appreciate you do this. It looks like overall you had a great stay with us. Being so central in Surfers Paradise does have it's up's and down's. The noise from the area in general and from our popular rooftop bar can impact on a stay and we do apologise that this happened while you were with us. We have passed on to our Food and Beverage team your comments regarding the pizza's and the sports bar. We would love to send you a little care pack of Kevin Murphy product, if you could reach out to our reception team to provide address details that would be great. The Island Team

Location was great - a few minutes walk to the main part of Surfers Paradise Beach, the Cavill Avenue shopping centre is across the road, and all the restaurants, bars and clubs you ever want. Surprised me that room housekeeping wanted to clean my room at 9:15 am on a Sunday morning - a bit early, and well before the checkout time (I was already staying another night to Monday). Also found it odd that I couldn't reach the switches for the bedside lighting from the bed (physically had to get out of bed to turn them off) - but that's a room design choice not easily fixed by staff. The room was modern, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I recently stayed at The Island for 2 nights when on a work trip. Travelling for work regularly, the hotel experience is typically a fairly monotonous routine. Checking in to The Island after a big day of work and travel however, proved to be a breath of fresh air. My check out experience also proved to be the same!
Ella was fantastic on my check out, she seemed genuine and natural in our interaction of the checkout process, whilst filling the space with small talk that did not feel forced in the slightest. This was also consistent when checking in with a lady who’s name I didn’t grab.
The hotel itself was clean, providing good value for the price, ideally located in Surfers Paradise and with good food options as room service or in the restaurant down stairs.
I will definitely stay again.

We went for few days to meet friends, prime location with all the amenities available. Tram stops right across the hotel. We had a delux king room booked which was fairly pleasant with spacious bedroom and balcony, only downside was bathroom was smaller, shower area bit mouldy otherwise I can’t complain about anything. Staff were very welcoming and professional. It does have bar and restaurant including gaming, pool areas. You definitely won’t get bored. Good value considering everything they are offering, definitely recommend this place if you are visiting for three or four days for couples.

The Island is one of those places you remember being fun and exciting, yet when you get there again you go why did I book here.
Here are the pros and cons - visited December 2023.
Pros: Great central location Amazing air conditioning that actually works! Comfortable beds and pillows YouTube etc on the smart TV Great chill out area undercover outside Lovely reception staff and waiters/waitresses in the service areas
Cons: Full of bogans - that showed little respect to actual hotel guests. Breakfast that was included was fatty and terrible each day. No choices for fruits, no spreads for toast, no healthy options just plates of fatty oily food. Pool is very small and deep so not suitable for children Very loud. You’ll need earplugs no matter what level you stay on.
Overall it’s a 3/5. We paid just over $450 a night as well and to me, that’s ridiculous considering other 5 star hotels are much less.

Hello Alliseaisblue, Thank you for sharing your feedback on your recent stay. We truly value your detailed review and are delighted to hear the positive aspects of your experience. Our central location is ideal for those looking to immerse themselves in the excitement of Surfers Paradise, especially with our proximity to the beachfront. It's great to know that the hotel services, particularly our reception and service team, left a positive impression on you. We sincerely apologise for the issues you raised, such as the lack of condiments on the cereal station and fresh fruit. Rest assured, we have addressed these concerns. The Rooftop and our other outlets are popular spots in Surfers Paradise, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of the area. We strive to offer diverse venues for everyone to enjoy, reflecting the bustling and lively nature of Surfers Paradise. Our management team is dedicated to constantly improving our offerings, with a focus on providing value for money that aligns with our neighboring properties. We appreciate your honesty, and despite the challenges, we hope you'll consider staying with us again during any future travels to the Gold Coast.

After searching online that rooms were available along with a restaurant on sight we stopped in to grab a beverage after a long trip before going in to book a room to met with appalling treatment. A beer was opened for us at the bar to then be rudely taken back when we went to pay for it as my partner has a hand tattoo that says ‘fight to live’ in cursive writing that he had tattooed on his hand after suffering a stroke several years ago and it was a daily reminder to never give up when he couldn’t talk for many years. The communication and the manner in how he was treated at your venue was extremely disrespectful and embarrassing. Spoken to & judged like a criminal by a young male staff member behind the bar regarding body art is not ok. In fact it’s discriminatory. You need to CLEARY state on the entrance to your venue that people with hand tattoos will not be served. Why just hand tattoos? Why? When some of your staff are covered in tattoos? NO ONE deserves to be treated like we were treated and your lack of personalisation in your management responses to people with similar experiences truly shows that you have no interest in considering that you are hurting and embarrassing people. On a positive note we took our money to another establishment and had a lovely stay

Over all, The Island Gold Coast is a good hotel, however there is only one things that stopped me from giving it 5 starts and will probably prevent me from returning in the future.
The hotel has been renovated significantly and the interior design is absolutely amazing. In fact, it is one of the most modern designs I have seen in a hotel in while and it is clear that the design was well thought out. The rooms are very spacious and the bed and pillows are extremely comfortable.
The only big issue with the hotel is the noise that comes from the Rooftop Bar. To give you an idea, my partner and I checked in at around 1pm and as soon as we walked into our room on level 5 we could hear the loud music. This continued through to 12am (although most other nights it doesn't close until 1:30am). The loud music absolutely ruined our stay as we could not get to sleep until some time after 1am.
In the interests of the guests, if I were the hotel management I would look at investing in sound reducing glass for the balcony doors.
Overall, the hotel is immaculate and very well renovated. However, because of the loud constant noise from the Rooftop Bar I don't believe the room is worth $236 per night and therefore won't be coming back until the noise issue is resolved.

The Island is in a good location and the Reno looks great however the place is not clean. The lifts had drink/food splattered up the walls the whole time we were there. I actually panicked when I got in it that the room was going to be terrible. The bedroom part of the room was fine but neither the kitchen nor the bathroom were clean. I asked for the shower to be cleaned and the floors moped as there was a thick brown scum line around the bottom tile of the shower and the floor had cup marks on it. They came and cleaned the shower - wasn’t great I went and got some cleaner and did it myself. The kitchen had a coffee/ some kind of drink spill on the floor that wasn’t moped when I asked them to clean the tile floors we - left it to see if they moped nope still there on departure. Tried to provide feed back on departure but unfortunately the sole desk attendant chose to continuously let people cut in front of me so I left the cards in the self checkout. Not sure if it’s current cleaning crew or just a bad experience but would think twice before rebooking.

We have stayed at the Island Gold Coast Resort several times, always having a great stay. The rooms are spacious and clean, and staff always friendly and obliging. The location is right in the heart of Surfers, close to shops, cafes, restaurants and the local RSL. We enjoy the pool and spa after a day out. There is a lovely eatery downstairs which looks out onto the street, and the light rail runs straight past the front door.

Hi I thought so too, but it's absolutely ok to enter over the tram tracks..in fact it's the only way as it's a one way street! There's a little car park area to the left once you drive in for checking in...check in is up the lift. Hope this helps.
