Novotel Surfers Paradise Hotel delights guests with its prime location near the beach and attractions, though the buzz of the city may sometimes disturb the peace at night. While service experiences vary, with commendable assistance offset by moments of frustration, travelers consistently laud the hotel's clean, modern rooms. However, opinions are mixed regarding the value, as some guests cite outdated amenities and unexpected charges. The ambiance is praised for its views, but the noise from nightlife and the need for updates in decor and amenities like the pool are noted drawbacks.

Checked in on a long weekend with a VERY long line up that extended around the corner. The very kind staff advised that this never happens and we could come back later, unfortunately we were already parked in so had to wait. Each day the line-up was similar so it seems like despite the hotel being aware of the full house booked in they did not plan appropriately.

Due to the full house the lifts had a constant line up day and night, however, even with distancing requirements the line was moving fairly constantly due to the abundance of lifts. Without restrictions I doubt this would happen, though one couple did tell us they waited half an hour to get a lift down from their floor.

Parking was full due to the long weekend but easy parking was found down the street for much cheaper.

The room itself had been renovated and was nice, the beds were comfortable and the room felt homely. The bathroom was already showing age and was very ordinary for this price point. The balcony was definitely untouched and could have used a refurb at the same time as the room, it felt like an old motel. We did request a king bed and got two doubles but the hotel was full so no big deal.

In terms of cleanliness there was broken bottle of wine, meaning glass and drying fluid all over the landing, I tried to call reception on the 90s phone but it didn't work, the glass was cleaned by the time we went out again but it looked like it had been there for a while. The room itself was clean enough, some missed areas but nothing that concerned me.

Breakfast was delicious as were the baked goods available. Food and drink prices are reasonable for a hotel. Definitely give it a try!

The location of the hotel is excellent if you want to be in Surfers Paradise, you could not be closer to the action. The beach is a few minute walk at a cruisy speed, as is a multitude of food and activities.

The pool was large, very popular, and well looked after. Families seemed to really enjoy that space. The tennis court is looking like a bit of a Frankenstein's monster of patched up areas and is in desperate need of a resurfacing.

The staff in this hotel are probably it's best asset, they are lovely and helpful and no matter what had a smile on their face and did their best to help every customer.

Overall there are plenty of positives about the hotel, however, at this price point we felt let down. It just didn't feel like it was up to the high standards I would expect from Novotel and we were left to laugh at the numbers of small issues we came across at a hotel of this level. I feel like I can get equal quality and better value for money from other competitor and other Accor hotels on the Gold Coast.

Dear kingzac, Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed Trip Advisor post following your recent stay at Novotel Surfers Paradise, it is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback from our guests. I am very pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay over the Public Holiday weekend which was a very busy time for the Hotel and Surfers Paradise as many visitors were headed to the beach for their first break following the easing of some Covid-19 restrictions across individual states. I will share your comments with the Team as they will be very happy to know that you acknowledged their service and the positive interactions that you had throughout your stay. I am sorry that you may have encountered some delays at the lifts when travelling at peak times due to the Covid-19 social distancing restrictions that are currently in place with only 4 persons per lift allowed to travel together. Thank you again for your comments kingzac and my Team and I do hope to welcome you back to Novotel Surfers Paradise next time you are visiting the Gold Coast, Best Regards, Paul Morton General Manager Novotel Surfers Paradise

We enjoyed a very good three night stay at this popular hotel in the heart of Surfers Paradise on Queensland’s must visited Gold Coast. We visited in February 2020, from the United Kingdom. As members of both the ACCOR Live Limitless and the IHG Rewards frequent guest stay programmes, we had some choice here. On our previous trip we had chosen the Crowne Plaza (which was excellent); on this trip we decided to give the Novotel Surfers Paradise a try, and we were not disappointed. We had a lovely stay here.

The location is great, right in the heart of Surfers Paradise, on the corner of Hanlan Street and Surfers Paradise Boulevard, one short block away from Cavilll Avenue. It’s attached to the Paradise Shopping Centre. Look for the Hard Rock Cafe; the hotel is almost beside it. It’s also a very short walk from the Cavill Avenue light rail system which connects the Gold Coast, at Helensvale, to the main rail line system to Brisbane and Brisbane Airport. You are certainly in the heart of the action with this hotel. It’s not directly beach front; however as it’s a high rise hotel you’ll be able the get rooms with a decent beach and ocean views.

We arrived just prior to the designated checkin time but our room was not ready; we were able to store our cases, and returned an hour later to complete the check-in process; our bags had already been delivered to our room.

We had chosen an ocean view room (these do cost more), and were not disappointed with the room we were allocated - Room 2608. The views across to the beach end of Cavill Avenue, the beach itself and the ocean beyond, were lovely; there were no other high-rises blocking the view.

The room itself was very spacious. It had been recently redecorated and was contemporary and stylish in appearance, in soft pale greys. The bed was comfortable, and the was also a comfortable seating area. The room contained all the amenities we needed: iron and board, an espresso pod machine, and a security safe. One significant omission was USB ports for devices. These are now standard in most hotels these days. Unfortunately the wifi wasn’t particularly great; the signal in the room was weak and connectivity was intermittent. The room had a decent balcony with comfortable seating, from which to enjoy the ocean view. The cooling system worked well, and the room was refreshed adequately daily.

We had a noise issue with a neighbouring guest in the early hours of one morning during our stay. This was immediately dealt with in a professional manner by the hotel staff.

We didn’t use any of the hotel facilities. There’s a decent coffee bar in the lobby area, and an outside pool.

We will certainly chose this hotel again on any future visits to Surfers Paradise.

We booked the "Gastronomy Package" for a weekend away, this was to be in a "Deluxe Room" which is one of the hotels freshly refurbished rooms. This package was to include $50 of food and beverage credit per day as well as breakfast.

Check in was relatively seamless until we got to the package inclusions. I was originally told that it was just $50 once off and that it had to be spent at the bar down stairs. I then had to go back to reception and show my confirmation that it was $50 per day which was agreed upon, however I then had to see reception once again the next day and it was confirmed it was still showing only one lot of the $50 credit, this was fixed on this occasion. I was told that this $50 could not be used on room service or poolside dining however this frustrated me because no where in the terms on my confirmation did it say this could only be spent at the bar.

The room was very modern as promised, my number one complaint in pretty much every hotel I've every stayed in is the lack of Power Points around the bed. I was so pleased to see that this freshly refurbished room featured a power point on each bedside table with two 240V plugs and two USB plugs, absolutely fantastic! The room features no carpet and a vinyl floor. The bed however was a let down, the king bed consisted of two single beds pushed together, the gap was noticeable when laying on the bed, for a hotel of this calibre I would expect a proper king bed. The bathroom was really nice and clean and the view from the room was fantastic. Disappointingly the wifi in the room had an allowance of 250MB per day prior to paying, I find most Accor properties these days have free wifi with no limit.

This hotel features an amazing pool and spa area on level 5, the water is a perfect temperature and I highly recommend swimming around dusk in amongst the Gold Coast sky scrapers. The food at the bar is really nice, the steak and accompaniments I could eat again and again, however the bar and room service close at 9pm which is excessively early, especially for a destination like the Gold Coast. Breakfast at the hotel is a served buffet on level one, no issues to report here but certainly nothing special.

The number one thing that will stop me from returning to this hotel is out of the control of the hotel, that is the noise. The street noise at night is insane. If you like doof doof music into the early hours of the morning then this is the place for you....if you are like me then maybe worth considering this prior to booking a stay here.

Dear CBRflyer, Thank you for taking the time to write a Trip Advisor post following your recent stay at Novotel Surfers Paradise, it is always a pleasure to receive feedback from our guests. Thank you for your comments regarding your stay, I am very pleased to read that you enjoyed your overall stay with us in the heart of Surfers Paradise including your modern room and hotel facilities on Level 5. I am sorry that your experience with the bed was not a very positive one and you were disappointed with the wi-fi provision. My Team and I are currently working on increasing both the bandwidth and infrastructure for wi-fi within the Hotel and this will be implemented later this year. I was disappointed to read that you were disturbed by external noise at night, due to it's central location the Hotel can receive noise from Cavill Mall at night however the Hotel does offer South facing rooms which are not affected by the nightclub area of Surfers Paradise. The Team are available 24 hours a day and are always happy to show guest alternative rooms (subject to availability) during their stay if the room that they are allocated is not suitable in any way. Thank you again for your comments CBRflyer and my Team and I hope to welcome you back to Novotel Surfers Paradise very soon, Best Regards, Paul Morton General Manager Novotel Surfers Paradise

The staff were so wonderful seriously the best I have encountered at any Accor property.
I had four rooms booked (hinterview room) I called prior to checkin to ask if interconnected rooms were available they were not for the configuration we wanted so I said I would keep what we had. However they upgraded us to oceanview and placed us on the same level. Which was lovely.
Upon checkin there were cheese platters in every room and two bottles of water and each room received the two welcome drinks.
Rooms are spacious and very clean. You do hear the noise of the clubs Downstairs we were on the 21st floor and I could still hear them. Maybe during the week it may not be as noisy as we were there on a Saturday night.
The room doors do bang and I heard constant slamming of doors from people leaving at all hours. Again it was a Saturday night and a warm evening so people were certainly in party mood last night.
However you do hear the waves the ocean so that was wonderful to hear.
We spent hours in the pool the water was so warm and has full sunlight they also have a poolside service where drinks are served. Loved it.
Parking is next door in the paradise centre try validate at reception for you $18 parking is sometimes difficult as it is also the parking for the shopping centre.
Complimentary Breakfast was a buffet with the usual new Covid standards of the staff serving you so there is a bit of a wait.
I had two guests join us for breakfast and the hotel very generously comped there breakfast.
Overall highly recommend and will be back.

Try to get an ocean view room. Short 10 minute walk to beach and many food options. Room was clean and newish. Staff was friendly. They have a go green option to opt out of room cleaning for 15$ per day food credit. Near a mall with grocery store had to pay for parking about 20$ per day but if u leave the car for a couple of days they just charge one day.
Pool a little dated with not enough shaded areas or chairs. They do provide towels near the pool.

My partner and I just returned home from 3 nights at the Novotel Surfers Paradise for our anniversary trip. When I made the booking I requested a higher floor room, however understood that this is subject to availability.

The gentleman who checked me in was very professional and friendly - a great start to our holiday! We were allocated floor 12 room 10 (was a little disappointed about not being allocated a higher level room at the start). The room had some balloons for our anniversary which was a nice touch (I assume it was for our anniversary as there was no card!). It was a very basic room but had everything we needed except for plates and cutlery, but this is expected in a place with no cooking facilities. The view from the room was stunning!

The Novotel offers a $15 f&b credit per day if you allocate for your room to not be serviced by housekeeping. This was fine by us, and we approached reception to organise this. I asked the lady if we could contact them if we ran out of toilet paper/ our towels did not dry etc and she advised that the point was to save them money so if you allocate this option no services relating to housekeeping are available.

On the first night, I grabbed the spare pillow from the top of the wardrobe only to discover it was filthy. Due to the conversation with the receptionist earlier in the day, I did not feel comfortable raiding this issue with reception. Also, when showering I discovered the vent in the bathroom was filthy with dust!

Breakfast was not included in our rate so we paid $28 per person per day. The gentleman who hosted breakfast each morning was super friendly! Breakfast on the first morning was average, with little ‘nice’ options however the next two days were much better. Tip - have breakfast before 8am otherwise it is very busy and there are long lines to be served.

Throughout our stay I only saw a staff member monitoring the pool area once. Forget relaxing in the pool, it is always full of children jumping and splashing and not abiding by the pool rules (majority of these seemed to be unsupervised). The hot tub should be adults only. Not to mention kids kept constantly jumping from the hot tub into the pool despite the sign stating not to. Maybe there needs to be more staff supervision? Each time we went to the pool we left almost immediately due to this. Although a family friendly motel, I think it is fair to expect hotel rules be abided by and monitored.

We travelled at a good time when night clubs were not pumping due to covid - this may explain our amazing sleeps compared to those of people with previous reviews. We heard the odd sound from Cavill but nothing major!

Lastly, the lift situation was terrible! Only 5 lifts and often had to wait ages for one to arrive. Would recommend staying on a lower floor and using the stairs if you are impatient.

Overall, it is in an amazing location but there are a few small things that could be fixed to make it even better. Most staff were very friendly (especially the breakfast staff) and the rooms very nice. We will most likely return in a few months to do it all again.

I'm a regular visitor to the Gold Coast for business and am now choosing Accor Hotels to take advantage of my membership. Novotel Surfers Paradise is quite a nice hotel. Rooms are fairly basic but clean and certainly serves the purpose of somewhere comfortable to stay the night. The location is perfect with a Woolworths directly under the building, car parking directly under the building (charges apply) and Cavill Mall is directly outside the building so it's very close to many restaurants and bars. The beach is only about 100M walk away. The beds in the rooms are extremely comfortable and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. I'd stay again for sure.

Our Superior Ocean View room was spacious and clean with adequate seating both inside and on the patio, had a small fridge and a comfortable king-size bed. There are good views of the heart of Surfers Paradise and the hotel's location means you are close to restaurants, cafes, the beach and the light rail stop. Noise from outside of the room and hotel was noticeable at times. Delays were experienced with the lifts at peak times. There is no complimentary reserved car parking for guests under the hotel however paid parking at a reasonable rate is available upon enquiry. Staff were very helpful with early check-in and late check-out.

I booked a night using my Accor Points, as a very special night away for my young daughter's 12th birthday, after a very hard year.

Upon checkin, we had been upgraded to a beautiful double suite with a lovely balcony. My daughter walked into the room first, to find a room full of beautiful pink balloons and a birthday card....it absolutely made her day!

The beds were super comfy, the amenities were so clean and very roomy, the views were just lovely and the room service was fast, affordable and tasty.

The gym was great (for Mum), the pool is so relaxing and warm (heated) and the spa is to die for!

If you decide to leave the car at home and get directions from translink, do NOT get off the tram at Surfers Paradise like they suggest, especially if you have bags or someone with a disability, get off at the stop before, which is right across the road from the hotel. (Translinks fault not hotel) :-)

You are surrounded by shops and eateries etc and the attractions and beach is a couple minutes walk away, which is great.

The restaurant and bar inside the hotel are both great, however if you prefer to eat breakfast elsewhere, please be aware that there really is no actual "breakfast" places around, and nothing nice and healthy other than sushi (which we do not eat for breakky), just takeaways and unhealthier places like maccas, subway, sushi, fish n chips etc.

The service upon check in was impeccable, we loved the stay, my daughter has had a truly beautiful start to the year ahead......and we honestly can not wait to stay again soon.

Dear rhiamanda, Thank you for taking the time to write a Trip Advisor post following your recent stay at Novotel Surfers Paradise, it is always a pleasure to receive such positive feedback from our Accor Live Limitless guests. Thank you for your comments regarding your stay with us to celebrate your Daughters birthday and I will share her reaction when she walked into your room with my Team as I know that they will be as pleased as I am to know that she had a day to remember. I was really pleased to read of the elements of the Hotel that worked so well for you all and it's great to hear that you had time to use the gym! Thank you again for your endorsement rhiamanda and my Team and I look forward to welcoming you all back to Novotel Surfers Paradise very soon. Best Regards, Paul Morton General Manager Novotel Surfers Paradise

Location is good if you want to be in the heart of Surfers, unfortunately I was originally booked at another hotel and moved here in a partner deal when that became a last minute quarantine location. Being over a long holiday weekend when I stayed it was then too late and too expensive to book elsewhere and it wasn't ideal for my needs.

Rooms are standard, they looked recently remodelled and clean/basic with all the facilities you'd expect. The bed was comfortable and we didn't have any issue with outside noise with the balcony door closed.

The elevators in the building are a bit of a pain, expect long waits to go up or down if it's busy.

Internet was totally useless!! So frustrating in this day and age when it is a simple fix - invest some money into your network. When you are charging $20+/room per day for access I would expect it to work even to some basic level but it was so bad I had to disable Wifi. Luckily am an Accor member or I'd have been very annoyed paying for non-working service.

Dear Iamsuperk, Thank you for taking the time to write a Trip Advisor post following your recent stay at Novotel Surfers Paradise, it is always a pleasure to receive feedback from our Accor Live Limitless guests. Thank you for your comments regarding your stay, I am sorry that the Hotel was not your 1st choice and that you were relocated from another Accor property. I am happy that your enjoyed your relaxing room with it's comfy Novotel Live n Dream bed I was very disappointed to read that your Wi-fi experience was not a positive one as the Hotel carried out significant upgrades to it's data capacity and infrastructure the previous month. Following your post I have contacted the Hotel's wi-fi provider, Reivernet who have confirmed that no outages were recorded over the long weekend. The Team are always happy to assist our guests in troubleshooting any connectivity issues, if more advanced assistance is required Reivernet do provide a 24 hours Customer Support Centre for our guests which is accessible via phone or email. Thank you again for your comments Iamsuperk as it provides my Team and I with information on how we can improve our products and services and we do hope that we are able to welcome you back to Novotel Surfers Paradise in the future, in the meantime thank you for your Loyalty to Accor. Best Regards, Paul Morton General Manager Novotel Surfers Paradise

For us there was a $3 per day discount for parking. If I remember correctly we paid $18 per day for parking through the hotel or if you did not do that it was $21 per day.

We are on 24th floor (highest deluxe rooms) with a family room plus a twin room. Views are fabulous! I haven’t had a king room though.

Yes, they do have a small fridge but there is nothing much in it. I can't even remember if they supplied milk. Definitely no mini-bar but that seems to be the way these days.
