The managers are lovely people and easy to talk to. Just had a problem with one of the sliding doors which were fixed as soon as they could arrange tradesmen to fix it. It is in such a good spot. You hardly need the car as you can walk to all the restaurants, Coles, Woolworths, shopping centres, Surfers Paradise attractions and tourist spots and the tram with connections to Brisbane on the train. I was on the 13th floor with fantastic views of the coast and Surfers. It was nicely renovated and the bed was comfortable with everything in the unit to make your holiday stress free. Would definitely stay there again.

No wonder you have been #1 accommodation in Surfers Paradise on Trip Advisor for more than 10 years. We love staying here and the managers are so lovely. Judy & Chris run a tight ship with customer service and cleanliness top priority.

Have been a massive fan of “One’ over the last few years having spent 3 out the last 4 Christmas as a guest. We missed last year after an ill-fated experience on the Sunshine Coast and were beyond excited to be back on the Coast for Christmas and back at our favourite place to stay. It was great to be greeted by Judy and Chris as we checked in about 1.30pm and were allocated Apartment 15 on Level 6 however right away we noticed issues. I must say that my wife is very OCD about germs and of course COVID produced some anxiety, however she was VERY comfortable knowing how ‘ tight a ship’ Judy and Chris run in the One Apartments, and the previous standard of cleanliness was immaculate, so we always felt very happy and could relax right away. We went to look at the apt first as we love the view you get from the apartments, and we noticed some long hairs on the main bed. (our antennae went up straight away and hoped this wasn’t a bad sign). We went to get our bags and on the way through , my wife voiced her concerns to Judy regarding the hair on the main bedroom who said ‘ that is my cleaner she has long black hair’. My wife was concerned and asked if the apartment was “Covid Clean” and she replied “Yes”. Wife also asked if there was another apartment we could switch to but given time of year was advised there wasn’t. Ok maybe it was a one off, so we went to unpack. When we went to unpack and did a more thorough look at the place we were beyond shocked! The apartment in short was poorly presented and grotty – coffee and or tea rings on the couch / crumbs and sand all over the floor / soft drink or cordial stains (I hope that’s what it was anyway) on the kitchen bench / hair on the bed on the main room / mould on the bedroom window and thick dust and dirt on all the window sills – all up just a general feeling of unclean which is a huge surprise given the standards we have become used to at “One”. My wife said to me, ‘ how can I relax now knowing this isn’t really clean and was also concerned about COVID standards’. We set about with our pine-o-clean wipes and gloves “cleaning” the place as best we could. Then we thought , why should we be doing this, this is just not good enough, so back downstairs we went , Judy was unavailable so we talked to Chris who was shocked by our report. He was very apologetic and tried to juggle some things around for us and did offer us Level 14, Unit 38, but wanted us to go and look at it first, so off we went. This apt was better although not up to past standards with the only thing that bothered my wife was black mould in the drain in the main shower but, but it was a drain so we thought, with everything we have done already, we didn’t say anything further. We were able to start our holiday a few hours after checking in. The grounds and view are 10/10. I know the building is almost 50 years old and it has a hard life being right on the beach having to handle salt / wind / rain – we can handle old but we do draw the line at dirty and grotty. Let me also tell you that we are not whinges or moaners and usually just get on with things but not when paying high season prices. I understand that being a Commercial Cleaner on the Gold Coast is not as glamourous as say being a dealer at the Casino / a Lifeguard or high end model but it’s a vitally important role and they need to understand that cleaning is not just replacing the tea and coffee and throwing a few clean towels around the place. I have no doubt the Cleaning is contracted out and during COVID times is HIGHLY ESSENTIAL this be done to a high standard but on this visit standards were poor and not up to scratch. I’m not sure if we will go back next Christmas.

We just spent a week here with our one year old son and thoroughly enjoyed it. The managers Chris and Judy are very friendly and knowledgeable of the local area and nothing seems like too much trouble. We had an excellent experience from booking our stay right through to checking out. The apartment and grounds were immaculate and it was very evident that great pride is taken in maintaining the entire property to a high standard. We had Excellent views from the apartment, the pool was a good size and temperature, the bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the direct beach access and not having to cross the busy road. We have stayed in Surfers Paradise many times and can honestly say we will stay at ‘One’ again, we will definitely be back.
