Me and a friend stayed here after flying from the UK. We opted to stay here just as a base really too catch up on sleep and get over our jet lag! The apartment was basic but nice - it had everything you needed to cook etc. Our apartment had a balcony with amazing views over Brisbane as well as a pool we could use. If you're looking for somewhere to stay that is comfortable without a huge price tag then I would definitely recommend!

I read the bad reviews but thought people may have been harsh so I took a chance. I had read that the manager may not have the booking organised, so I rang a few days ahead to confirm everything. He was still surprised and unprepared for our arrival. He then tried to charge me again and I had already paid. Anyway, he took us to our 'deluxe' apartment and it was small and dated but looked ok. He didn't have a fold away bed ready for my son and convinced us it would be too much trouble so suggested he just sleep on the couch.

The view was amazing and the location was great. The apartment was quite dirty and there was left over food and rubbish in the kitchen cupboards. The stove didn't heat up enough in 40 minutes to boil water but the microwave worked. The placemats on the filthy glass table were filthy with food ingrained from previous travellers. Worst of all was the filthy shower. The shower was incredibly mouldy and disgusting.

We had a queen bed and 2 single beds and the couch. For all those beds, we had 3 single blankets and 3 single bedspreads. It wasn't cold so it didn't matter too much.

We never saw or spoke to the manager during our stay but he seemed pleasant enough, though very disorganised at our arrival.

The pool was great as it was slightly heated and the kids swam in it every evening. We spent most of the time out and about so the apartment not being the greatest didn't really matter that much. We have stayed at a few other places and this was definitely the worst.

If you're on a budget and not too fussy, this place is ok. If you are a clean freak, bring a bottle of bleach and your rubber gloves.

There is only one reason that my overall rating is not Terrible, and that's because I've just come back from having a very good time in Surfers.

Firstly, the Pros:
1. Location - great, and relatively quiet. Nice view over the water.
2. Apartment Size - again great and with a decent balcony.
3. Pool - I didn't use it but my friend said it was salt water and good.
4. Clean Bedsheets - the bedsheets were clean and white.
5. Enough crockery, cooking pans and utensils.
6. Secure - seems secure, locked gates and door with swipe, apartment doors with deadlock and door lock.

Note: Panorama Tower is not a hotel, but individually owned apartments.

Now for the rest...
I was really looking forward to our stay. A couple days before, Panorama Tower had called to say that they had to upgrade our room to a deluxe (they left a message), but then called back not five minutes later to recind the offer since they had fixed the problem.

The lady sounded very friendly on the phone and I found that encouraging and was looking forward to staying.

When we arrived reception was unmanned, but we called the manager and she had conveniently left our keys for us. After that was sorted out, we opened up the door to our room and on first glance it looked... okay.

I've seen other reviews here commenting that some of the apartments are tired and that was certainly the case with our room. We did feel misled, after seeing images on the Panorama Tower website, which show clean, standard looking rooms.

After putting our luggage down we inspected the apartment further and found it to be quite dirty, with some things in poor condition.

There was no air-conditioning, although we didn't really need it. The lights and fans were a bit of a mystery. You need to turn the light switch on and then you can turn the fan on (using the remote to turn the light off and change the fan speed.)

This is what we found:
1. Dirty Toilet - it had not been cleaned, the bowl was stained.
2. Shower Mouldy and Dirty - there was mould in the shower on the grout and the floor looked a little worse for wear. Soap from the previous occupants had also been left in the soap holder. Shower scum was on the glass and mould at the bottom of shower door. (Refer to photo).
3. Dirty under the Bed - the room with the queen bed in it was dirty underneath, it had not been swept or mopped in some time and there were random bits of toilet paper under the bed.
4. Dirty Couch - the couch in the main room was a fabric couch that had seen better days. Do you know when suede or material is worn down and when you sit on it, it feels odd, like it's damp? It was quite grubby, enough to make me reluctant to sit on it.
5. Messy Cupboards - the queen bed cupboards were in an odd state of disarray. The blankets were thrown in. One of the white blankets had a dirty stain on it and had been bundled and shoved in the corner on top of a small set of drawers in the cupboard. There was a discarded lamp, and the shelf at the top had some sort of packaging scattered. (Refer to photo below.)
6. Dying Toaster - out of the two slots, only one worked and only one side worked, meaning you could only toast one side of bread at a time.
7. Dirty Dining Chairs
8. Wobbly Kitchen Island - the kitchen island sits on some sort of odd iron leg that does not appear to be very sturdy.
9. Kitchen Utensils - could have been a bit cleaner, but since it's self-service in that respect... well I think they should still do a check.
10. Fridge/Freezer - not wiped down inside.
11. Clothes Horse - needed to wiped down before use.

Caught between surprise and disappointment, we weren't quite sure what to do. In the end we left our bags and decided to call the manager and head out. I tried to politely explain the condition of the apartment, to which she said to me "What's wrong with it." and by that she sounded like 1) she didn't believe me, and 2) it sounded like the underlying tone of "another whinger".

I asked if we could be relocated to another apartment and she flatly stated that they were booked out and there were no other apartments. She then insisted it would be "fixed", that the cleaners would clean it while we were out.

When we returned, I'm not sure quite what the cleaners did. The ONLY difference I could see, was that they wiped the wall in the shower. Despite that it was still mouldy. Oh, and they folded the blankets up in the cupboard.

They DID NOT clean the dirty toilet bowl which was the most obvious. Even now I cannot comprehend why they didn't clean it.

The manager did not call back to check if everything was okay and the reception appeared to be unmanned while we were there. We did not see the reception open once.

So... Rather than call them back for another round of their inconvenient, clearly lazy cleaning attempt, we went to the supermarket and bought, gloves, cleaner, grout brush, detergent and spent about an hour cleaning the shower and the toilet and just basically decided to try and ignore the rest since we didn't have many days and I didn't want to spend my holiday time being upset over a situation that should NOT have occurred in the first place.

It had not crossed my mind to ask for a refund but I did see one response here that explained that, and it really made me think about what is acceptable (meaning that really, in our situation the condition of the apartment was unacceptable), I've also read responses that there are cleaning policies etc.

I strongly suggest that Panorama Tower find another cleaning agency.

Panorama Tower are advertising, clean, well maintained apartments on their website and unfortunately our apartment was far from it.

I do have a feeling that if you book a deluxe room that the standard is different, but I cannot recommmend the Panorama Hotel due to our experience.

Response from Management92, General Manager at Panorama Tower
Responded 21 Mar 2012
Thank you for your review. Firstly, please let me apologise for the state of your apartment. We take great pride in the standard of cleanliness of our apartments and it is totally unacceptable to me to have an apartment left in this state. Our guests are virtually always incredibly happy with the very high standard of cleanliness we keep and the unacceptable occurrance is incredibly embarrassing. I have not only fired the cleaner who cleaned your apartment, but have today also fired the entire contract cleaning company. Please understand that we take cleaning issues incredibly seriously and I will do everything necessary to keep the very high cleaning standards that our guests expect. We hope that you will come and 'give us another try' again in the future. Kindest Regards, Brendon General Manager

My partner and I recently travelled to surfers paradise for a relaxing week away.
To start off, the staff screwed up our check-in so we had to drop off our luggage and walk around for 6 hours until check-in at 2pm bearing in mind that we had just got off the plane from a 5 hour midnight flight. We were exhausted and just wanted to sleep and wash and get dressed. So because of this stuff up, our entire first day in Surfers paradise was crap. We were tired and drained.
Once we got into our room, finally, it was in a disgusting state, it was so dirty. There were even bugs and ants on the kitchen bench top and cupboards. It was the dirtiest place I had ever seen. I would rather stick my hands down a toilet then eat anything prepared in that kitchen. The service was terrible and the staff were so rude and impolite.

DO NOT STAY HERE.!!!!

I would rather pay an extra $200+ for cleaner and nicer accommodation.
This hotel and service really turned me off our holiday in Surfers paradise :(

Initially we chose to ignore the bad reviews in the hope new management may have made improvements. Upon arrival we learnt that building is with the bank and receivership at the moment. Although the accomodation is rated as 3 stars there are certain basics I would expect such as hot water. We had to wait 45 mins for someone to let us in to the building meanwhile our groceries were warming up in the car. And the manager was very pleasant but a simple apology instead of "it must have been telstra" would have gone a long way. Door missing on cupboard in kitchen, door handle fell off in our hand for the bedroom, no aircon, lights not working, only light blankets for winter weather. Linen was clean and Excellent location is about all it has going for it.

First of all there was a stuff up when we were trying to check in, our flight was late so we rang ahead and told them we would be late. We arrived at the hotel and rang the after hours service which took at least 25 minutes to get through. The lady then told us our keys were in the safe outside the gate with a letter, that was incorrect. we then had to ring the after hours again where she asked me questions like how many rooms was it? and who did you book it with?. it was like they couldn't find our booking. A resident of panorama towers came up to us and asked if we needed help, she rang the manager ans said she'd be right down. Another 15 minutes later and she finally came downstairs, gave us our key and then walked away, no sorry or nothing.

Then we open the door and there was this horrible smell coming out of the room. We walked around to check out the room and were disgusted. Starting with the kitchen the floors were filthy, marks all over the cupboards, sticky stuff all down the draws and in it, the dishes in the cupboard were dirty and had food all over them, the bowls were full of dirty water. The oven was covered with food, drip marks. Air conditioner leaked all over the floor in lounge room. The tables were all sticky and looked dirty. Under the lounge there was chips and sand on the floor. Hand prints and smudge marks were all over the doors and windows. The shower was not cleaned at all, the glass was disgusting and covered in soap scum, the floor was covered with sand and along the bottom of the door was covered in rust and mould. The toilet bowl was black and looked like it hadn't been cleaned EVER. The bathroom sink was covered in mould. under the sink their was washing powder all over the shelf. The balcony had cleaning supplies all over it and looked really scabby. None of the floors had been mopped. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed and the bed covers had stains all over them.

The pool was closed for cleaning the whole 7 days we were there. We rang the after hours and told them what was wrong with the room and she rang the manager and told us the cleaners would be around the next day. Before that she told us we may have been in the wrong room. They are so unorganized and unprofessional. Came back to the room the next afternoon and it HADN'T been cleaned. Rang the front desk the next morning and asked why it hadn't been cleaned and they didn't know anything about it, she sent the "cleaners" up to the room. Two girls came up asked what was wrong with the room, we told them and then they went on and said they cleaned it on Saturday the 1st, we got their the 3rd. They were rude and on their phones, acted like we were lying and made us feel uncomfortable. We asked if we could have more toilet paper and she snapped at us and said we only supply the first roll, you buy the rest. We left and came back 20 minutes later and all they did was rinse the floor in the shower but their was still sand in there, wiped over the sticky marks on the floor didn't mop, wiped over table with bleach, attempted to wipe over the glass doors. BUT THAT WAS ALL. Attempted to ring them over the next 4 days and no one answered the phone, left messages and no one got back to us. There was only someone at the front desk the day we were leaving. It was our first holiday away together and we weren't expecting it to be perfect but it was disgusting. We would have been happy even if they came up and cleaned the room but they couldn't even do that.

I don't understand the bad reviews, you get what you pay for.
We paid $100 a night for a one bedroom. That was cheaper than anywhere else.
And we got a 1 bedroom apartment. Ok it isn't flash. Its 3* quality but for that price on a weekend!

It is clean, its basic, it has BRILLIANT cooking facilities (a variety of pans, pots etc) its well equipped.
Perfect for us because we cooked most nights.

Lovely balcony. Views over surfers and easy walking distance. For the cost I really cant complain at all. For that reason I rate it a great value stay and I would stay here again.
Only thing I would love, more dishwashing liquid so I can ensure things are thoroughly cleaned for the next guest!

After reading a number of bad reviews, from when the property was under different management, I was a little worried about booking an apartment here. My initial email enquiry was responded to, not only quickly and efficiently, but in the most friendly and accommodating manner I have ever come across and after a few communications with Dee, the property manager, I was more than happy to book.
We stayed in a two bedroom deluxe apartment on the eighth floor and It was fantastic with a homely and welcoming feel. The views over the river are simply stunning!
Sure .... the building itself is older but it was clean, neat and had everything a self contained apartment should have.

The location is absolutely brilliant and everything is conveniently close by. As I was travelling with my mother, who cannot walk for long distances, and my 5 1/2 year old son I needed to be close to transport to get to the attractions. A very simple, pleasant and flat five minute walk through the park and along the road to the bus stop (for either direction) was all that was required. Cavill Avenue was also only a five minute walk and there are plenty of restaurants etc close by.

I would like to make a special mention and shout out to Dee, the manager. It is very rare to deal with a friendly, genuine and kind person who seems to genuinely care about your personal requirements when booking accommodation! Nothing was too much trouble and she made sure everything was organised for my stay. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and for your exceptional customer service. It was a pleasure to meet you, my son thinks you're wonderful and when we come back again we will be staying at Panorama Tower!

In conclusion; If you are after the flash, sterile, ultra modern skyscraper type accommodation in Surfers Paradise with zero personality then Panorama Tower is not for you. If you want great value for money, a clean and tidy apartment in a great location and fantastic personalised customer service then you can't go wrong staying here!

I was meant to stay there 6 nights with my children but that turned into 1 night, what a disgrace.
ceiling fans broken, shower broken, washing machine broken, leaking windows, furniture that old and never been cleaned, the couch had stains all over it.
Couldn't use the kitchen properly because it was disgusting and dirty.
On arrival the manager asked for an extra $80 cash because we didn't pay enough for the accommodation, like hell, I wasn't giving him a thing.
The photos and video on there web site is not what I was given to stay in.
The person that owns the apartment we were meant to stay in must be a dirty PIG.
Now I'm out of pocket, because I had to find somewhere else to stay.
I feel sorry for the people who have stayed here before, Panorama Tower should be black listed from every listing.

After a long flight/drive arrived at P.T unable to enter the security gates, rang the after hours number only to find our key was not in the lock box, had to wait for owner to be contacted and to come let us in. The view was amazing and location perfect. Was disappointed to find empty beer can/bottle in the bathroom and on balcony also someone else's pants left lying around. My major concern was my child found a pack of pills down the back of the couch!!! Reception needs a good clean/tidy aswell as it is first point of contact. If i was being picky a few other things could be improved. Overall stay was ok, with a good clean scrub and tidy has potential to be awesome.
