My wife and I recently travelled to Rockhampton, Queensland to visit her cousin and have a look around the area.We stayed at the Empire Apartment Hotel. It lived up to the advertising we saw on our QANTAS site. The hotel was easy to get to from the airport and we were able to securely park our rental vehicle in their below ground carpark. The staff on reception were very friendly, professional and helpful. The one bedroom apartment we selected gave us a view across the river and we were able to enjoy a quiet drink on the balcony in the cool of the evening. The apartment was immaculate and maintained to the highest standards. The airconditioning in the living area and bedroom was very good. Access to the gym and pool area was easily negotiated and accessible for people with mobility issues. For those who enjoy a stroll, there is a foopath along the river that takes you to a variety of entertainment areas - restaurants and water play areas for families. The hotel is within easy walking distance of all amenities. I would recommend the Empire Apartment Hotel to anyone who is heading to Rockhampton.

Check-in was seamless, and included a provided fact-sheet about the hotel's Covid-19 response.
The room itself was spacious, although the "study nook" is fairly ordinary if you plan on doing work like I was. The location of the "study nook" is also seemingly the most distant point from strong wifi signal in the room so connectivity was intermittent and slow (maxed out at about 2mbps).
The kitchen facilities are great, as is the bathroom. The bed is comfortable however the pillows are fairly thin (thankfully staying alone I was able to make use of both pillows).
This hotel remains a favourite in Rockhampton and look forward to staying with them again soon.

Daniel R, Thank you very much for taking time to review our hotel. We welcome and appreciate the feedback provided and are pleased you enjoyed your stay in our spacious One Bedroom Deluxe Apartment. It’s disappointing that our Complimentary WIFI was not totally reliable. We have invested heavily in Fibre to the Premises and have three high powered Wireless Access Points on every level of the hotel. Normally we receive very positive feedback on the high speed up and download speeds. I have referred this to our IT team to fully investigate as there may have been a fault with one of the WAP’s. I hope that on your next visit this problem will be rectified as we know how important fast and reliable WIFI is. The situation with the pillows has also been rectified, it appears after raising this with our supplier, there was a faulty batch of pillows and these are being replaced with our normal high quality pillows. Our 24hr guest service team is available anytime to assist our guests during their stay so please do not hesitate to call. Absolutely beautiful apartment - cannot fault a thing. Great service and location, right in the centre. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment, which was a large size with all the amenities we could have needed (ful kitchen, laundry and two bathrooms). Parking is also provided under the building. Wish we could have stayed for more than one night.

The facilities, layout of the room are all first class. The suite I stayed in had everything I might have needed - comfortable bed with extra pillows etc; quality iron and ironing board ; washing machine and dryer in the suite with washing powder; full size fridge ; express coffee machine ; good lighting, well located and a generous balcony that allowed fresh air rather than relying on aircon. The room layout was done with serious consideration to ease of use. The lifts were quick ; the staff were delightful . I could not fault anything

In terms of rockhampton if you are visiting for work I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. The apartment was clean with lots of space. There is a small kitchen for cooking and the staff are very polite and helpful, there are 3 food venues downstairs which can be charged back to the room.

We arrived in the afternoon and were greeted like long lost friends, the staff were great. Our apartment faced the river and great views, it was very spacious, excellently furnished, great kitchen, it was just like being in s friends home. We have traveled a lot and this was one of the most comfortable apartments we have stayed. The location was also excellent as not only with views of the river, but one can stroll along a great path that runs along the Fitzroy River

The room was clean, tidy and adequate for our 1 night quick stop over while passing through from Airlie Beach to Hervey Bay. The downside was an incorrect room allocation, we booked and paid for a king deluxe river view apartment and was given a smaller king room despite questioning this at reception on arrival. Apparently it was a clerical error but still meant we had to change rooms. The receptionist who checked us in was polite but not overly welcoming and could have been a bit more upbeat and friendly. This being said it didn't detract from our stay in Rockhampton it was a pleasant but average experience.

Hate writing bad reviews but we arrived to a friendly team happy to assist only to find our room smelt badly of vomit and over use of room freshener. The lovely girl on reception did come and inspect the room and agreed it had issues and relocated us but due to being fully booked it had to be a down grade. The final room was clean and well appointed however poor cleaning protocol lead to this review in the first instance and we will not be returning as a result.

Thank you for taking the time to post this review and for raising this situation upon checking into the room. I appreciate your kind remarks about our friendly team. We are very embarrassed that our usually high cleaning standards failed on this very rare occasion. Upon a full investigation as to the source of the unpleasant smell, it was not from vomit but a dry floor waste drain pipe that was emitting an unpleasant odour. After flushing it with drain cleaner and hot water the smell disappeared, our plumber has since inspected the drain and rectified the problem to ensure this does not happen in the future. As you identified, while it was regrettable that due to the hotel being fully booked, the room that you were moved to was in line with our very high standards of cleaning and presentation. While we respect your decision not to stay with us again, if you do change your mind, we would very much like to provide you with a memorable experience for all the right reasons. The hotel is located in the centre of town, on the banks of the Pioneer River. The view from the big wrap around balcony on the one bedroom apartment is great. The apartment has very comfy bed, a well equipped kitchen including a coffee machine, a washing machine and drier, a nice pool area and big hymn, and downstairs in the building 3 different restaurants that you can charge back to the room. Situated right in the centre of Rockhampton the locaton is ideal. Big rooms, clean, nice pool. Parking is available but if the car park is full street parking is easy to find. Restautants, pubs and coffee shop close by The staff were excellent and really went over and above to help us with an situation we had. Would recommend.

Hi Kimberly, all of the apartments are self-contained with a kitchen and laundry (including a washing machine). The only exception are our entry-level studio hotel rooms - they do not have a washing machine. We also have same-day dry cleaning with an external laundry available for a surcharge.
There are more places to choose from in the Rockhampton area.
