Specially booked a "deluxe queen suite" because of "kitchenette ". This was a microwave and kettle, plates, knives and forks. No toaster. Forcing us to buy breakfast. Yes it is cheap, 2 for 1 breakfast deal meant $15 per day, but our own breakfast food in our esky was wasted. Breakfast closes at 9am, but both days at 8.30 the dishes were empty. Lesson learned, read fine print of what is included in room. Lift breaking down and walking down 8 flights of stairs didn't help my mood. Worked out I saved $20 by not staying at brand new full apartment with full kitchen next door.

Dear Leenie38, Thank you for your review. I am disappointed to read this feedback from your stay. I can see that you made your booking via our own website, where it does state the exact facilities within the room, stating kitchenette with microwave, fridge, plates and cutleries and kettle only. I am sorry that you were under the impression that more facilities would be available. Unfortunately, as advised throughout your stay, our rooms are not equipped to permit toasters as these can set of the fire detectors in the room. Unfortunately, the lift breakdown was out of our control and I do apologise again for the inconvenience. We did try our best to communicate with guests via the public address system, and offered assistance to bring personal items via the stairs on several occasions. Fortunately, the service technician was able to get the lift back up and running quite quickly once he arrived onsite. Regards, Karley Beasy Hotel Manager Travelodge Hotel Rockhampton

Unlike other reivews I was very happy with my well researched choice to stay at the Mercure in Rockhampton, I was looking for a hotel not on the highway, away from any traffic noise, twin beds, reasonably priced (actually a little more than I had planned to spend) and with some self-catering facilities.
The property is nicely situated with views over the Fitzroy River in the town centre, reception was friendly and efficient on check-in and out. Our room was on the second floor, from our small terrace we had glimpses of the river. Our room was clean and tidy, comfortable beds with two pillows each, well stocked with tea/coffee/soap/shampoo/etc, decorated in the standard Mercure style, well presented. The bathroom was not modern, but clean and tidy, having a shower of the bath was difficult for my elderly Mother. We enjoyed the benefits of the room with cutlery, crockery, kettle, microwave, mini refrigerator, table and two chairs inside and out. The best part of the stay was how wonderfully quiet it was setting us up well for another day on the road. The hotel has limited on-site parking which fills up quickly in the afternoon. In regards to the location of the hotel, on a Sunday evening there were few restaurants within walking distance, but we were very pleased to have found East Street Buffet after our walk along the Fitzroy River and into the town centre. I would definetly stay at the Mercure again.

Rooms are clean and spacious. Staff were helpful and were always around when we needed something. The hotel is a little on the older side and needs a renovation. Mecure have since taken over and we were told that this will be happening. Convenient location and parking available. We managed to book for only $99 a night and got a free upgrade to a ricer view room which we really appreciated. Definitely recommend to travellers and we can’t wait to see how the renovations turn out!

The reception staff on check in and check out were pleasant and efficient.
Booked a three bedded room on the Accor Plus website.
Being an Accor Plus member, I paid with money and Accor Plus points.
Allocated a room on the first level of the hotel, overlooking a very dirty roof area.
I asked if there was another room available on an upper floor, to be told "no".
My Accor Plus membership gave me absolutely No benefits at all - no drink vouchers, no upgraded room. I am starting to question why I keep paying this yearly Accor Plus membership.
This hotel advertises that it has had a major "upgrade" and reopening.
I really failed to see where the money had been spent.
It certainly was not in the rooms.
The one elevator was old and very slow.
The very small old bathroom in our room was a challenge.
The shower was in the bath and the bath had very high sides,
so it was very dangerous getting in and out of the bath.
Absolutely dangerous for older people.
I refused to use the bath on the second morning.
The room was equipped with crockery, cutlery and a small microwave oven.
The only place to wash glasses, plates, cups and cutlery, was in the very small basin in the bathroom. This was unacceptable with no washing detergent or tea towels being provided.
Car parking was tight and filled up very quickly in the late afternoon.
Restaurants are not close.
It was a disappointing stay and not value for the money paid.
If returning to Rockhampton, I would look elsewhere for accommodation.

Dear Eric, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I am so pleased you were able to use your loyalty points to pay for some of your room cost for your stay. I am however, disappointed to read some of your comments and am sorry that you were so unhappy with your stay. Unfortunately, there is no room upgrade available on our family rooms as there are only four of these room types in the hotel and being our largest room, no other room would accommodate the bedding required. The reason you were unable to move to a higher floor is due to the rooms already being occupied by other guests, as explained to you. Whilst the hotel has only recently transitioned to the Accor brand, we have not advertised a major upgrade, so I am unsure where you might have read this? We most certainly are looking at refurbishment plans at the moment, but nothing has been confirmed or advertised regarding this as plans have not yet been finalised. Eric, thank you again for your feedback and we will certainly take note of your comments regarding the bathroom on board. Regards, Karley Beasy Hotel Manager

We booked in here a few days prior to our roadtrip and thought for $160 a night it would be OK.. BUT it's terrible. Pay another $50 a night if you have to and avoid a tired old room that stinks of smoke. We woukd have been better at a roadside motel. At least it has a balcony with a river view, it's the only thing going for it! Check out the rotten old carpet with holes in it!

Should have taken notice of other reviews, I arrived about 8.30 Friday night. I thought there was a restaurant on site. Apparently not, except for breakfast.
The room was clean, however the bathroom looks like it belongs in a horror movie. The air con barely works, there is an issue when it is cooler outside than in the room. I did notice that staff at reception had great air con
The breakfast is cheap, however don’t assume because the water is in a dispenser it is chilled. It is Luke warm, I asked the reason and was told some people don’t like chilled water in the morning.

Dear frsamios, I am sorry to learn that your recent stay with us did not meet your expectations. We do only have our breakfast lounge, as advertised on all websites. I understand this may be an inconvenience to some of our guests, which is why we have Restaurants that allow chargebacks, within a short walk of the hotel. I am unsure what aspect of the bathroom made you feel this way, but I am pleased that you found it the room be clean. I am disappointed that you had an issue with the air-conditioning in your room. I cannot find any record of this being reported to Reception, as we could have rectified this issue for you. We do have a twenty-four hour reception to assist our guests' at any time. Mercure has clean, comfortable rooms that have recently been renovated. The staff at the front desk were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
There’s a bunch of good restaurants within 10 minutes walk of the hotel and a coffee club 5 minutes away for breakfast.
Rooms are well priced. There’s on site parking but may not always be free depending on occupants. There is street parking out the front. There is a walking path alongside the river that is right across the road from the hotel

We stayed 2 nights here, staff were warm and friendly, room was clean but very worn. Reception did tell us they were in the middle of upgrading the hotel.
On our second day we went to open the door and neither key worked. We then had to go to reception, to be told so we made a mistake we cut the key for 1 night not 2.
That ruined it for me as those mistakes should not happen. Also when our room was serviced they did not replace milk or disposable plates and cutlery. We had to go ask for milk

This is well below the standard of service we pride ourselves on. Regards, Karley Beasy Hotel Manager

I don’t think the cost of staying here is worth it compared to the many motels in Rockhampton. I have enjoyed many Mercure hotels at other various destinations and this would have to be one of the worse ones.
The building is very outdated, and for all the guests and staff there is 1 elevator. I raise this because we had to wait 5 mins to try and get on the elevator as the cleaning staff were removing all the rubbish they had placed on the floor of the elevator to get it down from the rooms. When we got it, it smelt like a pub.
I didn’t like the shower as the water pressure was ordinary and the shower head was crap. Trying to find a balance between hot and cold probably takes longer than actually having a shower. The bathroom ceiling is only 7ft high, so if you are tall good luck and I hope you don’t have knee issues.
The staff were nice though and helpful.
If I had to come back to Rocky for a night, I would probably look at staying at one of the motels. It would be cheaper and I would argue it would be if the same or better quality. Not worth the cost.
Going to Quest Apartments today to spend the rest of the week in Rocky there. I am expecting that to be better.

Dear Scodria, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I do apologise that housekeeping have held the lift up for you to use. This has been addressed to ensure this does not happen again. Whilst we do only have one lift, there are only 8 floors to the hotel, so we do find that this is generally not an issue. Unfortunately, there is no feasible option to install a second lift for the few periods of time that there is a small wait time. I am sorry that there seems to be an issue with water pressure in the room. Our reception team are available 24 hours to assist with any issues which might arise and resolve these to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. We do have rooms with a walk in shower also, these are limited, but can be allocated on request for any guests with a preference or with mobility issues. I am so pleased to read that you found the staff to be nice and helpful. We do hope you choose to stay with us again in future. Regards, Karley Beasy Hotel Manager

The room is quite clean, but not too many power points or USB charger for the smart devices. Tv was quite old and screen was blurry, no smart connections to mobile devices and only had paid movie choices. Room is good, but not enough lightening in the bedroom. Toilet is clean and dry quickly.

Car parks onsite do not have enough spots to fit all, we were directed to park on the street along the riverbank.
