I was surprised by this motel and not in a good way...the rooms lack lustre...paper cups instead of real mugs as they says it's a covid risk no cushions a covid risk..but we used pillows on the bed ! Room for 3 but only 2 chairs to sit on..no sanitiser for hands ...when paying she took the card from us to swipe it..and didn't wipe the card before giving back no resturant open or meals being served these were listed on Web site I understand covid limitations but this motel is being contradictory..we used 5 motels on this trip and did not see any other motels giving us paper cups ! On a lighter side beds were clean and comfortable rooms was ok but just lacked enough chairs etc for 3 people. Pool looked well cared for. Decor was again ok. Nothing really much more to say..we really just found the covid rules a total joke and contradictory. Bathroom was well layed out .

I stayed here for the first time with a friend and initially I was really impressed. The rooms were neat and tidy (the bathroom was a little grotty though), the grounds were nicely kept and every single staff member was wonderful bar the female manager - we simply asked for a new bath towel and was scolded and threatened that we nearly had one of the cleaners sacked! However the cleaners were wonderful and came by every day to clean our room while we were out and we always came back to a fresh clean room. We were never bothered by anyone and the services were great (free WiFi etc), the air conditioner and room were quiet. A little overpriced but can be worth it for the great location. I would consider visiting again.

Room was quite small for 4 adults. WiFi was unstable and of average quality. Noisy due to its location next to the main road plied by all sorts of vehicles. Had ample parking lots. Place looks nice and well kept with a small, open public pool

Don't do it. We made the mistake of booking the David Motel on our way to Cairns. As two couples we booked a family room that was only a family room in that it had 3 beds. Two dibble and one double. As a family room for 4 adults we had 2 bottle of free water, we couldn't all walk around the room at the same time because it was too small. The air-conditioning almost worked we were all hot trying to sleep.
The free DVDs were of no use because the TV didn't play from the DVD player.

We loved our stay ,as a family of 4 we stayed In the family room and it was more then enough space with very comfy beds .The pool is beautiful and the shallow end is nice and spacious for all the little kids with ample space around the pool and beautiful green grass . Location is fantastic short stroll or drive to shopping centres and woolies across the road.
Management are the nicest ive come by .

Never book this again. The pool was disgusting; the water was very bad quality and a lot of paint was gone. The isolation of the rooms were poor as well. The whole night you hear the cars and motorbikes exhausts when the pull up at the traffic lights.

Filthy motel, worst I've stayed in. Rat poo on balcony and stairs, do yourself a favour stay elsewhere. Clean sheets were the highlight. Door to adjoining room was unlocked, walls very unsound proof.

We frequently go to Rockhampton to visit an aged relative. We had previously stopped at the David Motel....since 1998. In February 2011 we booked in for 2 nights@ $108.00 a double, not cheap for a provincial city. We had a continental breakfast delivered & we asked for extra condiments, there being only 1 of each: marmalade, honey, vegemite, for 2 people. This simple request was refused. The manager told us we were "greedy." We took exception to his attitude & he told us to leave. We had to pack up. He suggested we go to the Ambassador down the road. Unbelieveable way to do business. He has lost us! He did credit our prepaid night to our credit card. Dreadful experience.

We recently stayed at The David Motel on our way to Cairns. The advertised restaurant wasn't open for dinner and when we queried it was told there were plenty of places close to get dinner, we didn't even ask about breakfast. The staff were wonderful especially the housekeeper. Our room was clean and the bed very comfortable. A microwave is too much to ask for though. Something you would expect in an $120.00 a night room, especial;;y as the restaurant doesn't open unless they have early bookings. We were too late and didn't want to sit in our room to eat. With drinks and our meal we spent over $100 The David missed out on. Its a shame the managers are so rude and made us feel very unwelcome. A NEW management team is due I think.
