"Sorry to say I am on my way and won't be back for many a day". Yes one night was enough for me. Non- smoking yet deck is for smokers and the some comes in to your room no mention of that on the advertising. Also no toiletries but there where ear plugs thought it maybe for the trains but no it was the air conditioning unit, so noisy. Not very forthcoming on cancellation refund as could not stay another night. Boutique Not.

Dear Trueful, Thank you for leaving us your review. We are disappointed to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay. We offer ashtrays on the balcony to stop guests from smoking in the rooms. Some guests do go downstairs to the seated area to have their smokes but some guests chose to smoke up on the balcony. That is something we can't stop unfortunately. There would of been toiletry's near the earplugs on same stand. We do apologize that we aren't to your liking. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Kind Regards Denison Boutique Hotel

On entering our room it was like living in Downtown Abbey for 2 nights, beautifully decorated with authentic antiques. Clean, great size room, high ceilings, air conditioning and great size spa. Breakfast was included. Downside is that the Area it’s situated in is industrial. We enjoyed the novelty stay anyway.

For a four-star hotel, I was shocked and disgusted with my room and the service at the Denison Boutique Hotel. I read the reviews and thought it would be a good place to stay while on a work trip in Rockhampton.
However, I couldn’t wait to get out of there as the room was filthy and I could hardly sleep. The amount of dust was unbelievable. It seemed it must have had only a very quick once-over by housekeeping.
Also, to shower I had to step or climb over a large spa, which I found difficult, and the water didn’t drain properly. In fact, at one stage the grey water pooled up past my ankles. When I made a complaint to the staff, nothing was done.
I was thoroughly disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this place to others.

Dear Dani/ Vivienne, Thank you for taking the time leave a review. As stated in your review you could not wait leave to our hotel. Yet, you stayed all night, even had your husband came into the reception to retrieve you a coffee and return back to the room. He replied to the receptionist that his stay was lovely, when asked how his stay had been. You did not depart until after 8:00am. We inspected the room immediately upon your departure, the spa drained perfectly fine and how it should drain, the air con worked perfectly. Your complaint about the dust was handled. We currently have new staff who are still learning the standard of our property, this has been addressed and remedied. Sorry, we are not to your liking. Kind Regards Denison Boutique Hotel

Beautiful room clean quiet. A haven in the city and a Real break from the busy. Perfect for business travelers. Different from the normal motel room puts a spring in your step when you get underway again.

What a find, this grand old lady was superb, great old two storey building, all of the doors open to the outside. The price for what you get is very resonable.
The rooms very spacious, every room has a HUGE 4 poster bed that you sink into. There is also a couch to sit on so lots of places to relax. Im not a fan of sinks and baths in the actual bed space but it kindof worked, every room had a corner spabath with overhead shower, those of you wanting to have romance should enjoy this set up.
I actually stayed here twice second time on my way back from Cairns to Melbourne. The staff all friendly, i partookofthe continental breakfast and for $10 a bargain, again set in a beutiful period room. Pub across the road with good pub nosh and not far to walk to all the historical bits of Rocky.

Dear Antinmelb, Thank you for taking the time to leave us your very lovely and wonderful review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay, not once but twice with us. The continental breakfast is absolutely superb and great value for the $10 you pay. The Great Western is quite popular among all of our guests as it is not only convenient but they put on a great feed and have some amazing entertainment. We look forward to welcoming you back again next time. Kind Regards Denison Boutique Hotel

We were not impressed. Rooms are very old and musty smell. Furniture not clean, awful dust trap over huge four poster bed with very lumpy mattress. No separate bathroom and shower curtain too small for bath. Tiny, inadequate amenities for two and one small towel rail. Reception staff unfriendly and incompetent and so the list goes on. Location is odd - in light industrial area but across the road is the Great Western which is an old pub hostelry with character. Only redeeming factor is the Continental breakfast which is very good value. Not recommended and definitely a not return for us. Poorly run, strange place.

Dear JokeBels, Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review, We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay with us. However labelling our staff as 'incompetent' is very inappropriate. Our building is almost 150 years old and can still collect a fair amount of dust which our housekeeping staff work very diligently to maintain everyday. Our website as well other third party booking sites do display the layout of our room/spas, as well as where our building is located. which you could've seen pre-booking. Amenities are replenished everyday when rooms are serviced. Staff would've happily provided extra had you requested it. We're sorry to hear you will not be returning to our establishment as you believe it is poorly ran, and strange. Kind Regards, Denison Boutique Hotel

Please ignore the odd balls who gave negative reviews. This place is beyond brilliant. Four poster beds big enough to play tennis in, and a jacuzzi in your huge colonial room, at the same cost as a faceless highway motel. Seriously good value

When I opened the door to the room I was astounded! Firstly at the “period” setting, which I had not expected, and also at the quality of the furnishings etc..... then it dawned on me that they must’ve made a mistake on either the price... or the room, because I have rarely experienced such good Quality and value in a country town hotel.

Talk about a step back in time. The room was large and beautiful filled with antique furniture and a lovely corner spa. The bed was huge and the mattress was so soft and comfy. The bath towels were fluffy and soft. Our room was on the ground floor over looking the garden. Very quiet despite the train track running down the road. A couple of Deisel freight trains went through but it was not loud. The continental breakfast was great and the staff were very friendly and lovely to talk too

Stayed there recently. The noise coming from the trains passing during the night made it almost impossible to sleep. The continental breakfast was almost non existent. When i voiced my concerns in regards to these problems, the front desk staff. were very dismissive of my concerns. We were booked for 2 nights but cancelled the second night stay out of sheer disgust. Would never stay again.

Dear John, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We have a railway line that runs in front of the property which is clearly visible on the map, this is a throwback to our heritage of being built as a railway administration building back in 1885. We do provide complimentary ear plugs for the light sleepers but as you can see from the countless reviews about the train line, the noise is minimal. Unfortunately due to the ongoing pandemic, we are unable to provide a hot breakfast but we do provide an extensive continental breakfast, had you joined us for breakfast, I'm sure you would have enjoyed it. Our team tried to assist in every way possible and even provided a refund when you left. I'm sorry we were not to your liking but we did try our best to keep you happy, I can assure you we are never dismissive of any of our guests.
