On entering our room it was like living in Downtown Abbey for 2 nights, beautifully decorated with authentic antiques. Clean, great size room, high ceilings, air conditioning and great size spa. Breakfast was included. Downside is that the Area it’s situated in is industrial. We enjoyed the novelty stay anyway.
We stayed here twice on this trip. What a beautiful place at an amazing price. The room was stunning and the staff were so helpful. They even had gluten free bread available for breakfast both times for me. I cannot recommend this place more highly. We will definitely be booking in here next time we are in Rockhampton.
When I opened the door to the room I was astounded! Firstly at the “period” setting, which I had not expected, and also at the quality of the furnishings etc..... then it dawned on me that they must’ve made a mistake on either the price... or the room, because I have rarely experienced such good Quality and value in a country town hotel.
After reading the reviews and description we were looking forward to our romantic getaway. Upon arrival the receptionist was brisk and dismissive. “Room no 4 around the corner”. I had to ask about parking. When I went back with other questions the reception was closed 5pm! Please note this hotel is on the train line. Not too busy but there are trains! The building was as described but upon a closer look was tired and needed repairs and some tender loving care. The same could be said for the room: door lock/handle nearly falling off, very bad reception for the tv even though we were in the town Centre (could not watch it), no drinking glasses, wine glasses did not match, bed very soft and if you wish to cuddle then you are rolled together in a big dip in the middle of…
Ok, so its not city centre, and it sits beside a railway track, but, the ground floor rooms are palatial, MASSIVELY high ceilings, spacious and comfortable. The continental breakfast (due to Covid stopping buffets) was adequate and opened from 7am I would suggest requesting a "quiet room" say # 3 4 or 5 which are ground floor facing the off-street carpark, unless you want to climb the tall external stairs to a room on the first floor which do not appear to enjoy the same ceiling hieght as the ground floor units
