Detailed Reviews
When strolling along Quay St in Rockhampton, beside the Fitzroy river, the options for a beer or meal are many and various. However, if you are looking for value for money then consider the beautifully restored Heritage Hotel which is on the corner of William and Quay. They have a great selection of beers on tap, daily meal specials and the service is friendly. Sit inside or out and enjoy the cooler evenings.

Position was great. Meal in the restaurant on our first night was good. Parking around the place relatively easy. Worth paying the extra bucks for a good room, Ours was fantastic - a corner bedroom with access to the veranda (one that went down two sides of the building) with a separate sitting area and our own bath/shower. We had a fridge and micro wave, and a wifi area in the main bedroom. Recommended.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and cannot fault the food. Amazing meals and great prices. Must say it was a but stuffy and warm inside, but much cooler than the heat outside (of which is why we didn't change our seating)
Highly reccommended

Don’t like giving bad reviews, but I just feel I need to let people know what they are booking before they do.
Arrived on Monday to find out they were shut and had no access to check in after an 8hour journey... lovely.
Had to call an out of hours number or wait for someone to open up so I could check in. I swear the person who checked me must of mumbled two words to me... (ID PLEASE)
Gave me a key without any information. After I checked in the place was shut again and all lights off. So I had to walk up and downstairs with lights off up 2/3 flights of stairs which smelt like an old persons home (sorry nan)
Now... if you do not have water handy your gonna die of dehydration mate. Ensure you have some on you so you can store of it in their little kindergarten fridge.
The room is so bloody hot and humid , even with the noisey fan on full speed, the air didn’t move. I rekon I lost a few pounds over night. Luckily the bar or restaurant wasn’t open so I could imagine it would of been a little louder so would of been no chance sleeping.
I give it the two stars because the shared toilet bathroom was clean and also the bedroom was clean and bed comfy.
Only book this if you have to.EG on the way down as a middle stop between Airlie Beach and Sunshine Coast

+1
The room was dirty and smelly. The aircon turned on but not much air came out so i checked the filter which was totally clogged. The TV had no remote. The verandah door had the glass almost falling out of it. The shared showers ((womens ) were dirtier and moldier than the worst caravan park i have ever stayed at. There was no water for the kettle, the tap water in the toilets tastes of old plumbing,so i went down to the bar to buy some water anly to be told they don't sell water, i would have to go to Subway to buy some. There is no lift so it is a lot of stairs to haul your luggage to the top floor. If your room faces the river there are thousands of birds that roost in the trees, they sqarked all night.
Ok that said, the sheets were clean and the bed comfortable, the doona was a bit on the nose but then it is Rackhampton, so I didn't need to use it.

Old smelly noisy with lots of stairs to climb. Avoid.
We staid in the best room - the only one with on-site. Despite booking on the phone we wasn't told about noise (band playing till midnight, drunken people on the in front). And no elevator to take your bags to the 3rd floor.

Response from Julie S, General Manager at Heritage Hotel Rockhampton
Responded 28 Sept 2012
A dishonest and entirely fraudulent set of comments from the person posing as 'Josh T'. Most likely a competitor. The truth about Rockhampton's Heritage Hotel: Good budget accommodation that is located in the very heart of the CBD. Overlooking the Fitzroy River our rooms & adjoining 2nd floor balconies are clean, tidy and an important part of our broader bar, entertainment, dining & function facilities. Visitors to Rockhampton are advised that over 2000+ patrons frequent the lower levels of our establishment each weekend... as such there is a big party on Friday & Saturday nights! Indeed this is the attraction for many of our weekend accommodation guests. Sunday - Thursday nights are quiet and convenient for the traveller looking for a simple stay. Award winning restaurants, spectacular bars, friendly staff and a very special roof top beer garden are all located onsite.

The Heritage Hotel is wonderful value. To be staying on the banks of a beautiful water inlet and just walking distance to shops/Restuarants is perfect. Our room (double) was reasonably priced ($60) so we stayed 2 nights. It has a beautiful verandah overlooking a great boardwalk and river. Stunning. Our room was fine. We had a fridge and a TV (which worked!) . Toilets/bathroom were only a few doors a way- both clean and worked well. There is no lift up to the accommodation but quite a few stairs. We felt secure and also enjoyed a few drinks in the downstairs bar. All the downstairs and first floor appear pretty modern and tastefully decorated Great music on the Sunday afternoon we were there. All in all...we’re coming back to “Rockie”

We arrived at this resort today and were shocked. The outside of the hotel looked lovely and we were very excited. We checked in and weren't shown to our rooms. There was no lift so had to climb several flights of stairs in the dark as they didn't seem to be lit. The heat was horrendous their seemed to be no air con in the building. We got to our rooms and they were very basic which we were expecting but the heat was uncomfortable. One room was meant to have air con and this was barely even enough for an ant to breath in. The only fresh air in the room was when you opened the fridge door.
We then asked about wifi and were told that is was 'down'. This was the last straw for us.
We checked out 2 hours later after booking ourselves another hotel. On checkout we weren't even asked why we were leaving.
All in all vey disappointing And wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Our hostels down the cost have been 100% better.
