Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was sad to see the poor condition of the grounds at Beaches. I have not been for a couple years and noticed a huge change. Not sure if there is financial issues but not good. The tropical gardens are in poor condition, the pool is looking tired. I didn't use the BBQ but another guest said they were hard to use. The accommodation was excellent, but is being let down by the external features. I have to question value for money

We had a lovely stay in a poolside luxe apartment for 9 nights. So easy to get to beach, Main Street and wharf on foot. Staff were delightful and very helpful with my elderly mother. 307 was perfect for us with no stairs for her to negotiate. Had the perfect stay.

The best location! The pool was amazing and we could just walk across the road to the beach, perfect for families! We stayed in apartment 329, which was a little dated and could do with new furniture and a renovation, but definitely had the best view overlooking the pool and the beach. A short stroll to the main street and the best restaurants and pubs. Reception was helpful with organising transfers and a boat trip for us. We stayed here before the school holidays started and it was nice and peaceful, just what we needed.

Just spent 4 nights in Apartment 322. Firstly, what a beautiful apartment. Beautifully setup and I understand recently renovated. The bathrooms and kitchen are wonderful. This apartment is based on the third level with a large veranda overlooking the beach and pool area. It is absolute waterfront and arguably the best location in Port Douglas as it’s just around the corner from the Macrossan Street restaurants and shops. The pool is perfect and has an infinity like end looking over the beach. Highly recommend Beaches, particulate this apartment as it has great views over the beach. Has a laundry also which is very handy being able to wash and dry clothes in such a hot tropical environment. The staff here were always friendly and helpful and assisted us with a late checkout as our transfer wasn’t until 12.15pm- thank you Beaches for a great relaxing time.

Beaches, The Esplanade, was perfect for our needs. A secure complex, we had ground floor apartment with easy access to pool directly facing the beach. It was very comfortable and spacious. Just a short walk to the Main Street, or grab a shuttle which always seemed to be going past at the right time. Tip.. ask for a room away from the bin area. Really stinky every time we walked the path. BBQ area is right next door to it…looked like it never got used! Tip.. we hired a car for one day only through ‘sixt’, sightseeing north to Cape Trib. Tip.. Sailaway outer reef trip to Mackay Cay, worth every penny. Transfers from Cairns airport to PD via Exemplar. Highly recommend these companies.

Ok so we have stayed in Port Douglas many times, always somewhere different. Last time we stayed near beaches and it looked so good I booked for this year! The location is incredible, so close to the beach it’s amazing. The pool & spa is also so good- lots of sun during the day and heated. The staff are also lovely, Barbora & the British maintenance man especially. Ok, the negative were we stayed in one of the older apartments, look it probably wasn’t maintained that well. I know it’s all individually owned, but the bathrooms especially weren’t great. In our unit the ensuite had a salon door, it needs to be replaced with a real door. When I booked it’s all that was left, and I knew that I was getting something dated. The kitchen was good though. I’ve already booked for next year, but one of the renovated apartments. It’s $1000 more a week but worth it as the location & pool are just too good!

The excellent service started before we even arrived. We were travelling through Port Douglas straight to the Daintree prior to booking in. I called on our way to see if we could drop off our bags on our way through, we expected the bags to be left in the reception area but when we arrived Fiona had checked with housekeeping and had our apartment ready for us to move into straight away. 😁 this was much appreciated as we had food that really needed to go into the fridge. Our apartment was spacious with amazing views overlooking the beach. We had two big bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a great kitchen and spectacular views over the pool and beach. We will be back!

Room Tip: Hot tip! You really need to book restaurants as they are very busy and short of staff.

Rented via the main website. Allocated unit 327. Was meant to be king in master, 2 twins in 2nd room. Ended up with double in the master and 2 twins in the 2nd. Haven’t slept in a double since before I was married so not much of a holiday. Pools behind kids rooms are super noisy, sheets were dirty on arrival. Unit has the bare minimum of anything actually need to “self contained”. I’ve since found you can rent the same complex but particular units on air bnb or other sites so I would highly recommend that as at least You know what you are getting.
