Freestyle Resort Apartments are favourites in the Port Douglas market. The Apartments were recently refurbished setting benchmark standards for boutique accommodation in the Region. We experience high repeat visitation with many guests returning on an annual basis. Located beachside of Port Douglas with parkland opposite and to the North our location is second to none. Our award winning heated swimming pool and spa is a favourite spot for a quiet read, or just taking in the sun in a lovely tropical garden setting. The little extras like great personalised service from your resident managers Anne & Jason, complimentary pool towels, mid-week room services and free wi-fi broadband internet in all apartments and around the Pool precinct sets the scene. Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here for 5 nights and it was a perfect base to explore Port Douglas, just away from the town. It was a 7 or 8 minute walk into town (Macrossan St) and 12-15 mins to the tour boats at the marina. Our 2 bedroom apartment (up a couple of flights of steps) was clean and properly fitted out. There is a guest laundry on the ground floor with a couple of washers and dryers. The pool was clean and welcoming, though some of the loungers are getting a little tired. The owners were engaged and Ann was very helpful making arrangements, providing guidance and local knowledge - we were in good hands. Very enjoyable stay.

What can I add to the other reviews? Our stay was most enjoyable and relaxing. The apartment was spotlessly clean and in a brilliant location just minutes walk from the netted swimming area on Four Mile beach and within easy reach of the marina and local restaurants and shops. Anne was a great host helping to organise a trip, confirming our transport back to Cairns airport for us and explaining about the little shuttle buses that run around the resort.

We loved staying at the Freestyle Resort. The unit is clean and tidy with a good amount of space for a family to spread out. The location is close enough to town and the beach that you can easily walk where you need to go. Anne the host is exceptional and gives you lots of inside tips to enjoy your stay.

We stayed at the Freestyle with our adult son and found the accommodation to be clean and comfortable and very well located for the town of Port Douglas and Four Mile beach. The manager, Anne, was so hopeful throughout our visit suggesting and arranging some fabulous tours which really made our week in Northern Queensland so good.

Overpriced tired accommodation. My partner and I booked 5 nights here (unfortunately!) This was meant to be the most luxury accommodation of our trip and definitely the most expensive (About double what we paid anywhere else in our three week road trip) To start with my first impression was the cluttered tired looking office that seemed to double as a store room where we checked in. Once we got up to our room, it consisted of a bedroom that had no access to natural light, an adjoining ensuite/bathroom that had a second door through to the entrance and a small tv area with tiny kitchenette. We realised after turning on the taps in the bathroom that they would not turn back off properly. Instead there was a constant stream of water (not drips) coming out of the tap. When we went down to reception to report it, we were told that they were aware of it as they were told by a previous guest but hadn't bothered to fix it, even through they'd had a plumber out yesterday because that would mean they'd have to turn off water to the complex. She had not even gone to check how bad it had become herself. We would not have been able to sleep properly. The manager did not offer any type of solution until I asked if they could change us to another room. They were able to do this but the next room that they moved us to then also had issues. The rooms were advertised as fully self contained apartments. This was not the case though. The kitchen consisted of a hot plate and a convection microwave, no oven. There was no dining area, (Aside from a table on the balcony) There was no laundry in the apartment. There was a pay one downstairs for $4 per wash or dry cycle. Every single footstep, cough, furniture move and use of bathroom could be heard from the apartment above which appeared to have small children and adults in it. The room that we were transferred to, lacked modern day convenience that you'd expect now days. There was only one double powerpoint in the bedroom and it was only on one side of the bed so this was filled with a side table lamp plugged in and a power board running to the other side of the bed to run the other side table lamp. The TV in the lounge was 32Inches which by todays standard, is smaller than most computer monitors. There was a newer powerpoint that had been installed in the lounge that had USB ports in it which as one plus. The fan in the bathroom didn't work The fan in the bedroom worked but was so dodgy we weren't game to turn it on. The positives I will give for the place is that the pool is amazing. And despite the complex being run down the managers tried to be polite and friendly and were keen to share any knowledge that they had. It may be a better place for young families as I noticed that they had beach toys available to borrow down in the laundry.

The location was absolutely perfect. You can easily walk to the beach, restaurants and marina. We were looking forward to meeting Anne after all the reviews and she was exactly as stated. She came out of her office to welcome us. She gave us all the info as to where to find meals and supplies. She showed us how to get the local taxis. She helped us book the Cape Tribulation trip and advised us when to book the Great Barrier Reef. The apartment was perfect for our needs and the pool was a welcome relief at the end of a hard day on the beach or sightseeing. We would definitely recommend the Freestyle.

I recently stayed 4 days here with my partner who has not been well. Anne - the Manager for 23 years was really wonderful. Incredibly warm & helpful with everything (including eateries, tours etc). The heated pool was awesome, and location great. Close to beach/shops etc. This is what I love about FNQ- the friendly welcome & lifestyle. Thank you very much Anne. Best regards, Jan P.

We arrived at Freestyle Apartments mid way through our three week tour of Australia and it was just what we needed! The welcome we received from Anne was warm and friendly, she came out to meet us from our transfer bus and made us feel like old friends! The apartment was a 2 bedroom mezzanine which was perfect for myself and my husband and 16 yr old daughter. We all had space and privacy and both bedrooms had there own bathrooms. There was a large balcony overlooking the pool and a small but adequate kitchen. The apartments are within easy walking distance of the Main Street where there were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants and a great supermarket. The pool was great for a cooling dip at the end of the day and there were facilities for laundry which we took advantage of. Our only small criticism ( and it is only small) was that the sofa and chairs were not that comfortable for sitting in the evening. We had a lovely time in Port Douglas, everywhere was spotlessly clean and everyone we met was very friendly and kind. Big thank you to Anne and her team for making our stay so enjoyable.

Booked with Airbnb. Greeted by the manager of the complex, she was polite until we said it was an airbnb booking then turned nasty. We wanted to ask a question about Karanda and was told she was busy in the middle of something and come back later. We had trouble with the key lock on the unit door, I asked her for help could she call owner? Abruptly I was told it's my problem and no she couldn't call them to assist. Such a shame when I had read on the internet that they are lovely and more than helpful with tours and enquiries, this was certainly not the case. So for the next 7 days we avoided the front entry and stairs to our unit so we didn't see her. Not a great feeling when you are on holidays I can tell you. It should make no difference how you rented the unit especially if you manage the resort in the full. The resort hosts should always be nice. We have a holiday site that we share and our initial experience wasnt great. Guess you never know who is staying in your resort or looking to share its details. Maybe it was a bad day. Oh well, our unit was nice.
