A great apartment close enough to walk to shops, restaurants and beach. Spotlessly clean, comfy bed, hot and strong shower. Very well equipped with everything we needed for our four night stay, including a full kitchen and a washing machine. Hosts couldn’t have been more helpful. Definitely recommend and would stay here next time we’re in Port Douglas.

We stayed at Garrick house for 4 nights. Our apartment was clean spacious and air conditioned. The apartment also had a washing machine and drier. The hosts were very helpful, allowing us to use the outside shower and facilities as our flight was not until late in the day, so we enjoyed sitting around the wonderfully warm pool. Garrick house was also very well placed for the beach and restaurants / shops. We would not hesitate to stay again.

We stayed here for 3 weeks and found it perfect for our needs. The location is good for both beach and Macrossan Street. The full kitchen is well equipped to prepare any meals you wish and the bathroom is fresh and new. It was a real bonus to have the dishwasher as well as washing machine and dryer inside the unit which made the stay very comfortable.

We had a lovely stay and would recommend to anyone visiting Port Douglas.
The location was perfect, just a minute’s walk to the beautiful four mile beach. Conveniently this is the section of the beach where you’ll find the swim flags and stinger nets (the safest place to swim especially during stinger season).
It’s also just a short walk from the main street where there’s plenty of restaurants, cafes, bars and retailers to choose from. We didn’t hire a car and could access everything easily.
Our apartment was very clean and the amenities were excellent. I was particularly impressed with our kitchen, which was stocked with all the cookware, crockery and utensils we needed to cook our own meals. There’s also a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer for convenience.
The salt water pool was so lovely and was one of my favourite places to relax.
The owners, Olivia and Al, we’re very friendly and welcoming, even checking in with us during our stay.
Overall we had a wonderful experience and would love to stay here again when we return to Port Douglas.

Garrick House is perfectly located at the quieter end of Port Douglas, once street back from the amazing Four Mile Beach and round the corner from the main street (Macrossan Street). The grounds are impeccably kept and the outdoor pool area has a good quality BBQ. The one bedroom apartment was very clean and comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen including full sized fridge, dishwasher and oven. Air conditioning and fans kept us cool, and the balcony was perfect for outdoor eating. Our room overlooked the pool and was not noisy at all. This is not 5 star accommodation but is excellent value for money. Managers were very accommodating and helpful.

Being our first time staying in Port Douglas I just used a booking site to book our accommodation and took what I could get at a reasonable price that suited our needs ( family of four ) figuring we could check out alternatives for future stays while we were there and got to know where everything is. Well, how lucky we were. Garrick House is in the perfect position to access everything you want in Port Douglas with the beach a 1 minute walk and cafes, restaurants and shopping from a 1 minute walk up to a maximum 5 minute walk depending where you wanted to eat. Despite how close to everything it is the street is quiet and peaceful. The accommodation itself was perfect for us being clean, spacious and easily accessible along with everything a family needs for an easy holiday. Great pool area with heated pool at perfect temperature. BBQ and eating area kept nice and clean at all times. Property managers were very accommodating and helpful but not obtrusive. We have no need to look any further for an alternative next time unless we can't get in here! We discovered that it can be difficult finding accommodation available here so we were extremely lucky.

We had high expectations of Garrick House but were let down a little mainly through fault of our own. This was reserving a room overlooking the pool. If you would like peace and quiet during the day, reserve a quieter room which are presumably at the rear. It would have helped if the rooms had adequate soundproofing, but they do not, so even with doors fully closed it made little difference.
The best thing going for Garrick House is its location which is a couple of minutes walk to the beach and to the beginning of Macrossan Street. A walk down the whole street will take you about 10 minutes.
The apartment was fully equipped but appliances (Fridge, washer, dryer and dishwasher) continued the noise theme and would benefit from replacement. It was also showing some wear and tear and would benefit from some renovation.

Garrick House exudes old World tropical charm with its white balustrade patios, towering palm trees and exotically coloured tropical gardens. You expect to see Somerset Maugham in a white suit and Panama hat walking down the pathway to welcome you on arrival. Whilst Garrick House is on the non-ocean side of the road, the patio view of the pool area and the tropical garden compensates for its lack of a Coral Sea vista.
Whilst the external building and gardens are beautifully maintained, the apartments are bit old fashioned but clean, very functional and include all of the facilities you will need for a short stay. The bed was comfortable, safe for your valuables, the fridge was cold and the water was hot. Very nice pool area with undercover BBQ and seating area. Plenty of undercover car parking and only a short walk to the famous Macrossan Street, marina and Sunday markets.
The only negative was the lack of privacy as most apartments and patios are overlooked by adjacent patios and rooms. Community noise may also be a negative in non-Covid19 times.
So if you can tolerate a spot of privacy invasion, Garrick House could be the place to lay your head in Port Douglas.

The location cannot be beaten for central Port Douglas - a short walk to the beach in one direction and a short walk to the main street (McCrossan) in the other direction. It is in a quiet side street so close to all the action but no noise to disturb a lazy holiday sleep-in. This is an older building (built in the ‘80’s) but the external has been nicely refurbished. We stayed in apartment 8 on the middle floor and it was extremely comfortable and well appointed. Most parts of the unit have been fairly recently renovated (although if I was the owner, I would have continued on with the new flooring in the bedrooms to also replace the tatty tiles in the kitchen/living area). There was everything one could need for a lovely stay including laundry and a safe. While the building might be older, it is meticulously well maintained and the new poolhouse is a welcome addition. Olivia and Al, the owners are a dynamic duo - so efficient and friendly and professional. Everything is in perfect order and welcoming for guests. We had to make some last minute changes to our booking and Olivia could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We loved our stay here.

Great top-floor apartment with balcony facing front towards the beach and the sea. Completely self contained and very short walk into the main street of Port Douglas. The managers are very welcoming and friendly, and bend over backwards to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Although Garrick House was fully booked during our 3 week stay, you never saw much of the other guests. The outdoor pool was a very welcome refresher, when returning from the beach, and it was delightful to occasionally see young families with children enjoying the pool facilities. An additional bonus was being able to use the barbeque adjacent to the pool area. It is always kept spotlessly clean and is ideal for informal family meals at lunch or in the evening. We made good use of this when we did not want to cook in the apartment or walk into the village for a meal.
