Detailed Reviews
The Meridian Port Douglas is an apartment hotel, by which I mean that you have an apartment with a living room, kitchen and bedroom. There is not daily servicing of the apartments.
The apartments are centrally located within walking distance (2 blocks) of the main street where almost all of the restaurants/bars are located. Fortunately it is located far enough away that there is no noise from those restaurants/bars or from the traffic along the street. The place is also located within two blocks of the beach.
The apartments are quite large, particularly when compared to the usual hotel room. What I particularly liked was the free (except for the laundry detergent) Washer/Dryer located right outside the apartment door (you share it with the apartment next door). The front desk is manned during the daylight hours but if you arrive after around 6:00 pm on your first day, you will need to call the after hours number (or arrange ahead of time) for a code to the lockbox to obtain your key.
It's a nice place: not luxurious but very convenient for everything.

Our room was relatively small for a couple with two full suitcases and hand luggage but was clean and comfortable. Despite facing the road as opposed to the pool, our room was quiet. It was an easy couple of minutes walk into town from the Meridian. If you arrive outside of office hours, Wi-Fi access is only temporary until you can obtain a longer term code from the owners. Pool was clean and well maintained. Our only real gripe was having to pay a deposit of AUD 60 to use a safety deposit box in our room. This shouldn't be the case in the year 2020 when most hotels provide one for free. We stayed for four nights at the Meridian and found the owners to be friendly and helpful. They were able to book us a trip to the Great Barrier Reef at short notice and were efficient at organising airport transfers.

Easy to walk to the wharf, the beach, restaurants or shopping. The room was spotless and was equipped with a microwave, frig, dishes and coffee maker. Very quiet except for the early morning birds. ;) The pool was delightful and the staff very attentive. I enjoyed my stay here.

This is a great place to stay in Port Douglas. The location is very close to the beach and is a short walk up to the road to the main shopping drag in Port Douglas. As we didn't have a car, we were happy to find out that there are local shuttles in Port Douglas that can take you wherever you need to go for a reasonable price. For example, we could go to the Wildlife Habitat (15 mins away by car) for $9 per person return. This can be organized with a phone call. Thanks to John for telling us about this and sharing the phone numbers.
We had a 3rd floor room, overlooking the pool and found it really quiet and tidy. There were very good amenities (iron, an umbrella that we used quite a lot, boiler, coffee machine with the pods, cleaning supplies, a small fridge, microwave, tv, aircon). They had also provided clear instructions and information. We had a late check-in and it was super easy to get access through the front door and into our room.
Since the hotel is adults-only, it was quiet throughout the day too. The pool was used but never felt crowded and everything felt clean - inside the room and externally too.
One small suggestion: if you stay longer than a few days, they provide fresh linen and towels etc. It was not clear when we would receive the fresh laundry and it would've been nice to know in advance. We stayed 6 days and we received fresh linen etc, on the 4th day.
Overall, Sue and John (the owners) were excellent and friendly, always on hand to help. It's a really nice place to stay in Port Douglas.

Booked in for 6 nights at the Meridian and the place was great, booked the Premier Apartment which had a lounge area, kitchen (microwave, fridge etc) as well as a large balcony, bedroom and ensuite
Its just a few minutes walk to 4 mile beach and the same to get to the main street, which has a huge selection of resturants and shops, nice big Coles is there as well.
The air cons work really well in the apartment, which was great as we were there in Dec and it was very humid
John and Sue were very helpful and even sorted out our airport transfers there and back, so one less thing to worry about.
All in all an amazing place to stay.

We spent 6 nights at Meridian. This accommodation is a boutique hotel one block back from Macrossan St. Sue & John are great managers, very friendly & helpful with suggestions for trips to the reef etc. Best of all it is private, quiet & they have a policy of no one under the age of 16 - so perfect for couples. The pool area is very relaxing, with a shared BBQ, plenty of lounges & umbrellas. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment on level 3 overlooking the pool, which was well appointed & very comfortable. The hotel was very well organised with COVID-19 requirements. Many thanks to Sue & John for a great stay.

The resort is in a great location within walking distance to everything.
The pool was clean but could do with some steps for easier access for those with bad knees or are older.
We stayed for 11 nights using a Luxury Escapes voucher. Our room was not serviced once during this time. On the 5th day when I enquired, I was told sorry your room was missed. Later that day a bag was left at our door with fresh towels & sheets etc & also an extra bag for the used linen. In all my years of travelling I’ve never come across somewhere where you have to change your own sheets.
The bathroom wasn’t cleaned during our stay either. No explanation was given as to this practice of leaving a bag at your door.
We then stayed at another resort for our last 2 nights & our room was serviced every day.
Would I recommend this resort , probably note!

Response from John Haymes, General Manager at Meridian Port Douglas
Responded 28 Apr 2021
Hi Cheryl - our apologies that we didn't live up to your expectation but thank you for highlighting our Covid protocols. We would prefer to perform a mid stay service to your room as we have traditionally done but unfortunately it is necessary for us all to adjust if we wish to travel these days. Our goal is to keep you, other guests and staff safe as we continue to navigate through the pandemic. Our procedure is to provide fresh linen, towels and amenities mid stay and collect used linen and rubbish later in the day. We are confident that our modified procedures provide the safest environment for your stay. We apologise that we missed your initial service as scheduled , we did address this immediately your concern was raised with us. We are unwilling to comment on other properties procedures.

We stayed in one bedroom apartment facing swimming pool area. Having access to washing machine and dryer was really handy. Upon our arrival we were met with Charles and Coleen. They were covering the management leave. Both were very helpful and it was always a delight to see them when we went in or out of the property. Apartment had cooking facility and lounge area with two balconies. However we could not use the balcony because in the morning there were too many white little bugs on the table which kept coming back in hundreds from no where. And in the evenings, there was moscatos and other bugs made it very difficult for us to sit and enjoy the view or weather. There are several restaurants to enjoy. You must attend the Sunday market in the city. There are several stalls of food, clothes, jewellery etc. 5 days are sufficient for this Port Douglas. The property is just 10 mins walking distance from the city centre with shops and restaurants. 4 miles beach is just a 3/4 mins walking. If you are visiting in Summer be aware of jelly fish if going to the beach. Only swim in a designated net area or safer to swim in a swimming pool. Couple of excursions are great e.g Great Barrier Reef and scenic train with sky rail. Temperature in February is around 30-32 but due to humidity it feels much hotter.

We arrived here on September the 10th 2023 for a five night stay. We were welcomed by the friendly team.
Our room is lovely.
There is AC, bathroom with a shower in the bath. There is also a safe for any small belongings ( my iPad fits in so maybe not so small). There is a kitchenette with a microwave, fridge, sink, kettle, toaster and coffee machine.
There was a jug of water in the fridge as well as ice in the ice cube tray.
The room is bright and clean. The swimming pool is private and there is a barbecue area for guest use..
There is a washing machine and tumble dryer we share with the room next to us and this is included in the price.
I would highly recommend this resort.

+1
This resort is beautiful - cannot fault it! The owners are a lovely, friendly couple who take such pride in their resort. It is immaculately clean and they've thought of everything right down to extra towels, bin bags, pool towels, umbrellas etc - we didn't have to ask for anything extra. It is tranquil, laid back and makes for an easy stay right next to town - a 2 minute walk. We did the Luxury Escape 5 day deal and we would definitely come back. Next time we'd pay the extra for a 1 bedroom apartment with a bigger balcony. Food is expensive in PD so I recommend making use of the well equipped kitchen in the apartment.

Yes, I think so
I am sorry but I do not know the answer to your question however, I am sure that the owners would be able to help.
We have a one bedroom premier apartment booked - does it have a washing machine & dryer?
Many thanks
There is a washing machine and dryer for every 2 units to share They are right near your front door.
The receptionist will organise transportation for you... she's very organised!
No idea on the cost. Sorry.
