We really enjoyed our stay with Anthony and Andre our two perfect hosts. Their oasis outside of Port Douglas was our favorite on our 6 week tour. The hosts start off your day with a great breakfast and great conversation as well as recommendations on excursions that are right on the money. We were very lucky to have the place to ourselves as people had cancelled due to the fires. Their loss was our gain. We used the pool every night and enjoyed a view that was unsurpassed.
If you are thinking of staying in Cairns I suggest you stay in Port Douglas area instead. This puts you in a better spot and gets you away from the city. I also suggest the rooms with the shower outside and if you can afford it they have 2 bedroom villa that sits above that is spectacular (went and took a peak). Would stay here again.

When you book a place with ratings and reviews this high, you're sometimes left wondering whether it could be that good. Well, frankly, it is. When you enter the steep driveway and ascend you quickly feel as though you're moving into another world; a special place in the tree tops. You are greeted by the friendliest hosts possible and taken to a meticulously clean and beautifully decorated room with all mod cons. Then you take in the spectacular views and immediately settle in as though you've been there for days amongst the palm trees and orchids. A sumptuous breakfast on the deck with Sunbirds and beautiful butterflies all around you is almost an experience money can't buy. Then after breakfast you find that your room has been cleaned and beds made with what could only be described as military precision. Very easy access to Port Douglas, Mossman and Daintree, plus your hosts will advise you on the best local choices for food and adventures - and I highly recommend you take their advice! A very special place that we feel very privileged to have experienced. Cannot recommend it too highly.

Having escaped a horrendous experience in another resort not too far from the Mai Tai, this proved to be the perfect place for body and soul to recover and enjoy a fantastic service in lush and beautiful surroundings, Anthony and Andre were great hosts who are dye in the wool professionals with a clear focus on the well being of their guests, providing a fantastic service with a personal touch, As our hastily planned arrival fell on Christmas Day, and no shops were open within a 50km radius, they even ensured that we were properly fed and hydrated.
Our room was stunningly beautiful, clean and spacious, with every detail showing taste and the ability to second guess the needs of their guests (the Molton Brown shower gel was just what I needed at that point!). The place is close to Mossman as well as to Port Douglas, with plenty of restaurants and watering holes in its vicinity: Cairns was approximately an hour away. I can honestly say that this was one of the highlights of our trip to Australia and we'd like to say to big Thank You to the "Double A Team".

Thank you so much for your incredible hospitality. Nick and I are so thrilled we were able to stay 4 nights at your incredible resort. Your effort and love to make our stay perfect is very much appreciated. Everything that is important to us was perfect. Extremely comfortable king size beds; incredibly good fresh, hot, coffee each morning with a delicious array of tropical fruits, croissants/ cereal- the best continental breakfast; superb location which means you can chose to go into Port Douglas only if you want to prior to heading off on day trips ; privacy; superb outdoor shower and much more that is so good for our souls. We would highly recommend Mai Tai to any couple looking to leave behind their everyday life and relax. The Indonesian decor transports you to where we cannot go right now but fills a gap to travel any further. Thank you Anthony and Andre, you both should be so proud of what you have created.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Mai Tai Resort in Port Douglas for five days, renting both the Lotus room and the villa at the top of the resort. Anthony was incredibly helpful during the booking process as well as assistance coordinating daily activities, with an impeccable attention to detail. From the moment we arrived at the resort we were warmly greeted by both Anthony and Andre. Our rooms were very clean and cozy. The villa had a separate living area, with a complete and full sized kitchen, and small plunge pool. The views were spectacular. Each morning for breakfast we were served fresh fruit and croissants, coffee and tea - all well done. Given the opportunity I will not hesitate to stay here again, and give this establishment my highest rating.

Everything about Mai Tai resort was wonderful. On arrival, we could immediately see how different and unique the whole property was, from the welcoming entrance, the wrap around corridors, past the swimming pool, through the Bali doors to our entry room - all filled with an array of artifacts and furnishings with a Balinese/Asian influence. Then our room had a gorgeous ornate bed with overhanging netting, lounge and furniture that matched the resort's Asian style, opening out to our own garden deck and open air shower (with cover on top), looking out across the valley and plains to breathtaking views. We had serenity and a feeling of comfort and relaxation. There are only five rooms, so quiet and spacious. The outdoor dining area also had the same views, the tropical breakfast was perfect and the hosts, Anthony and Andre, were incredibly welcoming and were intuitive to our needs and personalities. Of course, we didn't want to leave!!!

Serenity in the hinterlands above port Douglas. We decided to visit as we had to cancel a European trip due to covid and luckily as we are from South Australia we were able to fly into Cairns with no problem.
Andre'and Anthony are wonderful hosts, nothing is to much trouble and they are so knowledgeable about the surrounding area. Breakfast is superb and the whole ambiance of the property is just relaxed and chilled. A beautiful spot so close to everything you need to visit while up in Far north Queensland. We were very lucky to be upgraded to a room with outdoor shower and the views are simply amazing. Thank you so much Andre and Anthony for an amazing stay.

My wife and I had a great time at the Mai Tai. Andre was an excellent host. I’m so glad that I didn’t pre book any tours as Andre steered us to the best reef and Daintree tours on the best days weather wise. Whenever we returned to the B&B he always checked on us to be sure we were having a good time - which we were! The room was nice and breakfast was great. We particularly enjoyed the location in the hills as it reminded us of our home in Maui. This is a trying time for the tourist industry world wide and I hope business returns to this great B&B soon.

Mai Tai resort came highly recommended by a personal friend and the experience she described perfectly fit the exceptional stay I had. This hidden gem is tucked away in the beautiful hills of Port Douglas overlooking the breathtaking views of mountains meeting the ocean surrounded by the lush greenery of the rainforest. My lovely host, Andre, took care of every detail from ensuring the room was pristine, tours were booked and detailed recommendations for everything imaginable. He is an absolute jewel of a person and our chats over breakfast (freshly assorted local fruit and a priceless view) were one of the most memorable moments of my stay. Mai Tai is the perfect venture right outside of Daintree, between city center Port Douglas and Mossman, with easy access to beautiful beaches, fine dining, shopping, spas, and local tours. The secluded location guarantees privacy and total relaxation, and is the ideal place if you want to be away from the bustle of a busy city, traffic, and people. I also loved the Balinese themed decor and the outdoor shower is an absolute must!

Just spent three nights at this hidden gem , a Bali inspired retreat in a great location close to both Mossman and Port Douglas with amazing views out to the sea. Our hosts Andre and Anthony were great , making sure we had a fabulous and memorable stay, Thanks guys. Loved our room, felt like we were in Bali, very comfortable bed and quality sheets. Room was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean , private outside sitting area with great views and outside shower which was a treat to use. Enjoyed our fresh breakfast every morning and company of Cleo, Leon and Thor! Would recommend this amazing place to everyone .
