Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here from the 8th of January to the 12th of January, Loved our stay here room was very clean, beds were so comfortable, close to shops and four mile beach. The pool was amazing had to cut our stay short two days due to roads flooding and not wanting to risk getting stuck and missing flights home. Will definitely be back.

A 10 out of 10! Kim and James are perfect hosts, the apartment was well-equipped and spacious and the pool area was terrific. Bit of a hike with no lift but there are also many properties in Port Douglas without lifts. Close to everything.

We asked for the corner apartment on the second floor, and that's what we got. And it was perfect. Large, full of light. The balcony offered views of the main street as well as the greenery around the hotel. Do not be afraid of being in the middle of town - Port Douglas is small and very quiet. The location means you have the beach, shops, restaurants and the marina all within short walking distance (5-10 minutes). No lifts was no problem for us, but it may pose a problem for people with walking difficultis or when you have heavy luggage. The swimming pool may not be of the olympic size, but it's clean and large enough for a short swim or just chilling out after a hot day. There is a BBQ by the pool, and they're very clean and free to use. They provide all the condiments, utensils, and even cooking oil. There's even a fridge there to keep your beers cold.

The people at this Venue are just so accomodating and helpful. Our recent week long stay here (unfortunately) coincided with the arrival of Cyclone "Jasper", we were kept quite safe & our rental car was safely garaged beneath the building, we lost all power due to the cyclone, however, we were provided with torches to use and we were kept up to date with what we needed to do. This was unfortunately something that was out of their control & I was peasantly surprised when I recieved an email from these people offering us another 5 nights stay free of charge on dates of our choice due to the Cyclone. This situation was totally out of their control & I commend them for making this offer. This venue is ideally located in the main street and is close to all eateries and the shops, it is clean and comfortable, the bed was super comfortable and it has a spa bath, a great pool centrally located, it also has storm shutters keeping us quite safe from the cyclone and flying debris. We have stayed at this venue on one other occasion in the past and I can highly recommend these apartments to other travellers.

Celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at the Regal during Cyclone Jasper.. Despite the weather and power failure throughout most of Port Douglas we had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Our 1 bedroom spa apartment was spacious and clean and had a well equipped kitchen and an enclosed balcony Our hosts. Kim and James couldn't have been more helpful, making available extra food and milk if required to see us through All in all a great place to stay right in the heart of Port Douglas

Really enjoyed our stay. We had a large lounge and a balcony area with a jacuzzi. Any issues we had where quickly fixed e.g. fridge didn't work to start with. Location is perfect with four mile beach in one direction and the majority of restaurants / shops / bars in the other direction. Our stay here came at the end of a three trip around Australia and was the perfect way to relax. We still managed a couple of trips, one to the great barrier reef and the other on the Skyrail to Kurunda. The pool is more a of a leisure pool rather than one for a serious swimmer but was more than adequate for us. The marina is very close and there is an excellent market on a Sunday.

A category 4 cyclone approached and was expected to make landfall the day I was to arrive. I contacted the hotel to cancel 4 days prior to the cyclone. They refused to provide any flexibility. Just said I should get better insurance. They know it is impossible to go there. But they just grab money. Beware, they just keep sending quotes of their policy fine print.

Dear Dave, It is so disappointing that a credit/date modification was not accepted and a refund was insisted upon. As we explained, travel insurance would have covered you for a refund and we could have provided all the necessary documentation to support your claim. We cannot disadvantage other guest bookings (all of whom had insurance) by providing the only guest without travel insurance, a refund, that would make travel insurance worthless. Please consider travel insurance in the future as we recommend in all guest accommodation confirmation emails. Nb. There is no "fine print" this message is standard as are all confirmation details.

The location is excellent, just a few metres from McCrossan Street and a couple of hundred metres to Four Mile Beach. The pool area is adequate. It was great to see BBQ essentials including oil were supplied. Our 1 br apartment was of a good size with all necessities provided. One thing missing was a folder with instructions re the air con, hotplate etc. You don’t need a car if staying here as everything is within easy walking distance.
