We asked for the corner apartment on the second floor, and that's what we got. And it was perfect. Large, full of light. The balcony offered views of the main street as well as the greenery around the hotel. Do not be afraid of being in the middle of town - Port Douglas is small and very quiet. The location means you have the beach, shops, restaurants and the marina all within short walking distance (5-10 minutes). No lifts was no problem for us, but it may pose a problem for people with walking difficultis or when you have heavy luggage. The swimming pool may not be of the olympic size, but it's clean and large enough for a short swim or just chilling out after a hot day. There is a BBQ by the pool, and they're very clean and free to use. They provide all the condiments, utensils, and even cooking oil. There's even a fridge there to keep your beers cold.

We stayed here in Late July 2022, during the dry season.
1. The common areas are completely outdoors. While they are covered, they are open-air. 2. The pool is really cute. It's small and designed to take a dip in to relax. There is no room to actually swim. 3. The place is not ADA accessible. There is no elevator and a lot of stairs. 4. This is not a full service hotel. You have to take your own luggage up and down, are expected to leave your accommodation in presentable condition. While the staff are required by law to do certain cleaning tasks between guests, you must empty your own trash, not leave any food behind, simple stuff. 5. Located less than two minutes from downtown where there are lots of restaurants and shopping. The "Night Owl" Convenience store is open late and is a two minute walk away. 6. Private Parking garage is under the building. The front entrance is locked after business hours. They give you a key for the gate.
We stayed in a rooftop suite. 1. The common area makes it look like it's designed for a family, but there is only one bed for two people. 2. The washer and dryer in the rooms are dated and loud, however were very useful. The private porch is secluded and has a private hot tub.
As for the Rooftop Suite, If you plan on being away from your room for most of the day, it's kind of a waste. It was a great experience but I wish we had more time to enjoy our suite.
Overall the resort is a good value for the money. The employees were polite and helpful. While you shouldn't expect room service, it's definitely a one of a kind place that s worth visiting.

Well, where do I start… From the minute we walked into the reception area we were greeted by the managers James and Kim. They were friendly, knowledgeable and eager to help. The check in process was seamless and they were very organised, with everything we needed ready to go. Once we went to our 1 bedroom apartment with the jacuzzi, we were so impressed. It was clean and well presented. We then needed some advice on what to do in Port Douglas. We went down and spoke to Kim and she was a wealth of knowledge (you won’t need to go to the tourist information centre, Kim has everything there). The swimming pool was awesome and it is so close to the Main Street we never had to use our car, except when we wanted to venture outside of the Port Douglas area. One of her suggestions was Mossman Gorge- WOW! Words can not describe how awesome it was.
It would have to be one of the best accommodations we have ever stayed at and the friendly managers made it even better. If you don’t bring your car, they have a car available to hire.
My recommendation is, stay at Regal, for an awesome stay.

If you’re thinking about staying at Regal Port Douglas, think again. We checked out after staying only one night, having booked a 7 night stay. To preface, the photography is very deceptive on the website, giving the pool a bigger appearance than in reality. Even my son was disappointed. The Studio room is tiny, and you can barely swing a cat in it. The Spa Bath/Shower was abysmal, no shower could be taken without an IMMENSE amount of water spilling everywhere. The overall appearance of the complex is very dated, if you prefer to stay at something more updated and modern, Regal Port Douglas is not the place for you.

Dear C6363UXcraigk, Regal, built in 2000 in the Mediterranean style, has been meticulously maintained. Our website photography accurately represents the property, without depicting modernity. Could you please inform us where you found any misleading images? Our temperature-controlled pool, though not expansive, is exactly as shown in the photos. Many guests appreciate the controlled water temperature, which is currently 29 degrees, slightly warmer than the ocean temperature here in the tropics. Regal offers five accommodation options: Studio (28 sq m) One-bedroom apartment with indoor spa (60 sq m) One-bedroom apartment with outdoor jacuzzi (69 sq m) Rooftop apartment (over 200 sq m) Two-bedroom apartment (97 sq m) Website property and room details provide accurate information to help you choose the apartment that best suits your needs and expectations. Regal Port Douglas boasts high water pressure, which can be adjusted using the mixer tap to control both temperature and pressure. The handheld showerhead in the Studio can be used on the sliding bar and swivel attachment for multi-directional use. Excessive water in the bathroom may result from enjoying the high water pressure. Regal maintains high occupancy throughout the year, with a significant percentage of returning guests.

Got to the hotel after reception had closed. Very easy to get the room key, got to room and it was lovely. Jacuzzi on the balcony nice bed she room also. Staff very helpful and chatty m, we asked if he could adjust the temperature on the jacuzzi which he did. Entrance is off the Main Street so it’s close to everything, they fed cutlery a stove, kettle washer and dryer in our room. No lift but it didn’t matter as we we just carried our cases. There is free underground car parking as well, in the car park you will also find a washer and dryer room there as well. Close to 4 Mile Beach as well and the Marina.

I stayed here with my boyfriend over the new year period and we both agreed that we picked the perfect accommodation. Compared to all the other accommodation in Port Douglas, the regal had the best price and the location was perfect being right in the middle of the Main Street, meaning everything was walking distance. Rooms were clean and had everything you needed and the owner were super friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great stay!

The hotel is in a good location for the main street in Port Douglas. If you arrive after 5pm you have to call to get instructions to access your room and the car park. You will also have to carry your suitcases up 3-4 flights of steps from car park to your room, there are no lifts. The room is spacious and clean. It says self catering but all it has is a toaster different from a normal hotel. No kitchen sink or worktops. There is tea and coffee provided and milk. Hotel is pretty basic but ok for a base to explore Daintree, Low Isles and 4 mile beach.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed our central location, which truly is a great base for exploring the beauty of Port Douglas, from the Daintree Rainforest to Low Isles and Four Mile Beach. Port Douglas’ charm lies in its relaxed atmosphere and natural beauty, which are preserved through strict building regulations that prevent high-rise developments. While this means there are no lifts, it also ensures the village retains its unique character and intimate feel—something many guests find adds to the appeal of staying here. We understand the Studio with Indoor Spa may not have fully met your expectations. This room style is one of our more compact options and does not include a kitchenette. Instead, it offers basic amenities such as a toaster and tea- and coffee-making facilities, which are clearly outlined in the room description. For guests seeking more extensive self-catering facilities, we offer four different room styles, including larger apartments with kitchenettes and additional space to make your stay more comfortable. We appreciate your feedback about the check-in process which is communicated to you prior to arrival, we’ll consider how we can better communicate these aspects to future guests. Thank you again for your comments. We hope you enjoyed your time in Port Douglas and that your explorations were filled with memorable adventures. If you decide to return, we’d be happy to help you find a room style that better suits your needs. 🌴😊

I’ve just checked in today and am already regretting my decision. To begin, there is no reception desk after 12pm on weekends. To checkin, you must use a telephone on the wall to be connected to rude after hours. Expect to have to provide your credit card information over the phone AGAIN because they don’t keep it on file although I was somehow charged on 2 separate occasions to complete the booking… and it cannot be in anyone else’s name. Next… come to find out your room is 4 floors straight up stairs. Imagine bringing more than one suitcase with you, it’s miserable and cramped. Additionally, once you’ve logged in 3 devices onto your wifi, you cannot add anymore. You cannot remove any of the devices once they’re connected. Why is this possibly a thing in this day and age?? That means only 2 phones and one iPad MAX. No laptop or anything.
Spend a little bit more money and stay somewhere nicer. Regal needs to improve their hospitality and customer service, I would recommend others to stay away when there’s so many good options in Port Douglas.

Dear JessCtheworld, We understand that expectations vary from guest to guest and as on-site managers we take pleasure in seeing that our guests enjoy their stay. Reception was open until 3pm, despite reduced weekend Reception hours (9am - 12pm), we like to greet our guests when possible but do not offer 24hour Reception. Your arrival was logged at 4.27pm. * Check-in: Your accommodation confirmation email set out the Business hours and the simple instructions on how to check-in After hours. Reading your confirmation email would have prepared you for your after hours arrival. This service is one that most travellers are familiar and is operated remotely however we monitor the service often and receive good reports on the ease on check-in. It would have be more constructive to have reported your phone experience with the on-site management. * Credit Card: The credit card is you proof of identification - this is for the protection of your reservation. We most certainly have this on file. * Please drop into Reception so that we can sort out your Wi-fi woes, it isn't difficult. We provide an initial 3 x accessible devices but this is not increased unless you tell us how many devices are necessary for you to make your stay comfortable. * 4 Flights???? Your Studio is located on the 2nd floor, 2 x flights, top floor. Besides you colourful review, it appears that you are quite enjoying your stay, enjoying the heated pool, the short walk to the beach and restaurants. JessCtheworld, please take notice of the night safes in town - even the large chain hotels do not provide 24hour Reception. We recommend that you do C more of the world!

Really enjoyed our stay. We had a large lounge and a balcony area with a jacuzzi. Any issues we had where quickly fixed e.g. fridge didn't work to start with. Location is perfect with four mile beach in one direction and the majority of restaurants / shops / bars in the other direction. Our stay here came at the end of a three trip around Australia and was the perfect way to relax. We still managed a couple of trips, one to the great barrier reef and the other on the Skyrail to Kurunda. The pool is more a of a leisure pool rather than one for a serious swimmer but was more than adequate for us. The marina is very close and there is an excellent market on a Sunday.

Hi, sorry I do not know if there is a TV in those apartment bedrooms. We did not have one in the bedroom of the appartment we had (1 bedroom interior spa). The TV in the lounge was quite small & basic. Yes the pool was heated although it was not needed. If anything we were disappointed as it would have been nice to be able to cool off.
Our 1 Bedroom Rooftop Apartments are very popular for Honeymoon stays. These apartments (2 only) have a large private courtyard with an out door jacuzzi, sunlounges and BBQ. Internally, the apartment includes a king bed, lounge, dining, laundry and spa bath in the ensuite.
There are more places to choose from in the Port Douglas area.
