Perfect location- adorable suite with a comfortable bed and pillow. We took an ocean view which stunning. The suite was clean and very quiet. The breakfast was delicious. The hotel is an easy walk to the main part of town full of hustling restaurants. The staff were friendly and accommodation. Will definitely recommend this property to friends and family.

I will start with the positives. The reception and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very tasty. Now for the negatives. We arrived at the hotel around 6. The reception is closed at night. An envelope was placed outside the entrance with our key. Thank goodness our driver stayed with us and showed us how to get in. We had to go through the pool area, and up some stairs to get to the elevator since reception was closed. We are 67 and 71 years old so lugging the suitcases was not easy for us. We were there for 3 days/2 nights: One of the two days housekeeping did not clean our room. We told the receptionist. She said they must have missed our room. The biggest negative is that the entire property was in need of maintenance. The attached pictures show just a few of the issues. It felt dirty and outdated. We sent these pictures to our travel agent who called them to complain on our behalf. The morning we were leaving we saw a staff member pointing out the areas that were in disrepair so hopefully guests in the future will benefit from our complaints.

The hotel is in a central location, walking distance from restaurants and the main street. It’s by the fantastic Four Mile Beach where you can swim in an area with a safety net. The hotel provides a nice breakfast, it has a bar and a restaurant. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning was effective.

This hotel was amazing in every way. First off, the location couldn’t be better. It is situated across the street from 4 Mile Beach and at the start of Macrossan st. Shops and restaurants are just steps away. There’s a restaurant that serves breakfast outdoors overlooking the beach and a bar. The hotel is very clean, the staff is very helpful and the pool area unique and fun. Book it, you won’t be sorry.

Let me say straigt away that we love the Peninsula. The rooms have everything we want and the location is excellent for Port Douglas and Four Mile Beach, as well as proximity to other local attractions. We had an issue with getting to the hotel for our first night because both roads were closed. Craig was very helpful in arranging an alternative hotel for the night in Cairns. The Cook Highway opened the following day so all was good. There is clearly alot of painting and decorating going on in the hotel and some of the communal areas are in need of some maintenance - I assume cyclone Jasper did some damage. There was a 2 day water outage during our stay and although we coped, I do think the hotel could have been a little more proactive in handing out bottled water and leaving buckets of pool water for each room. Hi Tide, the onsite restaurant, closed completely during the outage apart from breakfast on the first morning of the outage. It was noticeable that other cafe’s in the town managed to keep open although most restaurants remained closed for obvious ressons. And that brings me to the reason why I haven’t given 5 stars this time, Hi Tide. We had dinner there on our first evening and it really wasn’t very good. Our starters and sides didn’t arrive at all. Two of our party ordered steak which was tough and poorly cooked - maybe done ‘sous vide’ but definately unpleasant. My barra came with a very sloppy smear of potato and cauliflower which was unappealing both to look at and in texture. It was noticeable that we were the only ones in the restaurant and although Port Douglas was generally quieter than usual, other restaurants were much busier. Hi Tide doesn’t open on Sunday’s and Monday’s, and then they closed for two nights because of the water issue, so they only missed out on us dining there for one night, but still. I would say that we were happy with breakfast - it was just the one poor dinner which put us off. The waitress was not especially helpful or friendly for the evening service. The staff genreally are friendly and helpful. This was our 4th visit to the hotel and in other years we have used Hi Tide for dinner nearly every night, so we were disappointed this time. As I said, we love this hotel, and we will definately be back, hoping that Hi Tide may have improved.

Dear SpaldingOxon, Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear you enjoy your stay. Yes, unfortunately the Cyclone Jasper certainly did some damage due to our location. As you would have seen whilst at the property we are endeavouring to get cleaned up and back to business. Regarding your dining experience with Hi Tide I will pass your feedback on to our Restuarant Manager for review and response. This is disappointing to hear and I know they struggled to deliver meals and service as restaurant were not to trade unless they had running water to ensure hygiene standards were maintained.

We arrived at the peninsula looking forward to 4 days rest and relaxation. This we did not get. First of all the hotel is very dated and in need a refurbishment. The whole communal area needs a good clean. The pool area is very nice but in need of some tlc a lot of cracked dirty tiles etc. The balcony was covered in bugs and debris. Had not been cleaned. The bathroom had a cupboard door in it which was very moldy or grimy and very unpleasant to look at when using the bathroom. We booked for 5 nights but left after 3 and came back to cairns. This was due to the whole area being without water. This is of course not the hotels fault. However my complaint is firstly no one informed us the water had been shut off and so we had no water to drink etc. and as the reception area of the hotel was shut no one was around to ask or get fresh water. The man I spoke two on the phone’s attitude was “sorry no water till the morning” I’m sorry but how is that acceptable.? The breakfast is very good and is complimentary. The reception staff were excellent at booking and discussing activities available etc. I hope the hotel gets Its much needed refurb soon as I understand from reviews I’ve read it is due to undergo one.

Dear ElizabethJA2685, Thank you for your review of Peninsula Boutique hotel. We are disappointed to hear your stay was not to our usual standard. Due to the region recently experiencing Cyclone Jasper, constant extreme weather patterns and road closures there have been a mountain of issues to overcome. Unfortunately, the local council had to turn off the running water to businesses as the resivours were low. This is beyond our control and usually we are not advised or know until we try and turn on the taps. We note your feedback concerning the rooms and will pass your feedback on to our owners for consideration. Glad to hear you enjoyed your breakfast and activities. We hope you may return again in the future!

All of the staff were so helpful and friendly. The food in the restaurant was really good too. The place was just dirty. I don't think the floors in our room had been mopped in a while. And the room smelled very musty. The air conditioner did not work very well. Our tour was cancelled and since roads were washed out, we were going to have to be picked up for the airport at 2am so we left early to be taken to a hotel in Cairnes. Our tour guide said that they would not refund the room for that night. The stay was just disappointing...

Hi NS, I am sorry your stay was disappointing. At least my staff and the food didn't disappoint. I assure you the floors are mopped on a very regular basis. If your A/C was not working efficiently you should have reported it so we could get it fixed of moved rooms. If your room is not as cold as the ones around you it will get condensation, making the floors feel wet and the room smell musty. We live in a very humid climate here this time of year and a fully functioning A/C is a must. I am sorry your Daintree tour was cancelled, you can blame mother nature for that. The Daintree will be back online shortly for everyone to enjoy. We were always happy to refund the night you didn't stay, I am not sure if your Travel agent passed on the correct information. Even with the Cook Highway open your pick up still would have been 3am, again talk to your agent on that one. Its a very difficult time after such a large rain event. Port Douglas is back on its feet and the region is recovering at a rapid pace. Thanks for your patronage in a difficult time.

This hotel was quite lovely, and the location is perfect! It is, as the name says, a boutique hotel, which means it isn't one of the large, chain resort hotels that can seem ubiquitous to location. The location is at the edge of the downtown Port Douglas business district, so you can walk everywhere, and it's across the street from the beach. The pool was an interesting shape and absolutely delightful. And the service cannot be beat. I'd gladly go back to this hotel and recommend it to my friends.

Good location although dated bathrooms. This is not a hotel but individual owners and a management company that handles the check-in. Any problems with your reservation are not managed on site. The front desk staff is not on after 6:00PM and won't go out of their way for any special requests. The breakfast was good, but slow. The laundry was a plus. Near the beach but can't swim in it except for the designated area about 1/2 mile down because of the jellyfish.

Hi and thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We are a Strata titled hotel as is anything with a kitchen in it in Australia. I am not sure what issue you had that could not be dealt with onsite. Other than it being a travel agent issue. Our reception hours are clearly advertised and I as the Manager live onsite so I am able to deal with any issues. If you read previous reviews my staff bend over backwards to make everyone's holiday special. I am sorry you felt this was not the case. The Jellyfish are a way of life in FNQ but only during our wet season. 9 Months of the year its an amazing beach to swim at.
