My husband & I have stayed at Club Tropical many times over the past 10 or so years, always enjoying it - until this time. The location is great right in the centre of town. This time we stayed in a “standard” room as there was apparently no availability in the refurbished rooms. The receptionist told us the only difference would be the decor- wrong. The bathroom is dated, tiles on the shower floor broken & missing ( hygiene?.) The air conditioning was down low to almost freezing point but controls so worn it was impossible to adjust. Neither of the lights above the bed worked & the remainder were so dull we were in semi darkness the whole time. Then at night the outside hallway light shines through the bathroom via glass tiles so it is impossible to darken the room! The shutters on the veranda are worn, rusty & broken so some do not open at all. Yes, the furniture & decor is dated but there were a lot of other issues with our room which made it poor value for money. Additionally the pool was heated to 30 degrees ( receptionist told us this on check in). It was like a warm bath & most unpleasant mid September in the tropics. We would not stay again unless there is a significant make over & improved maintenance.

Friendly helpful staff, great pool and spas. Disappointed that there was no BBQ as advertised so we could mingle in the communal outdoor lounge with other guests. Studios have what is necessary and are clean and attractively presented, but a bit tired. Only starter pack provided, which meant on a 1 week stay we had to buy toilet paper, dish washing detergent, tea, coffee etc - recommend you bring your own supplies. Also think clean towels should be offered midweek free of charge

What can I say but WOW, from the time we arrived on Friday 2nd October it has been so relaxing, room is exactly as advertised as we in sun spa apartment, veiw overlooking Anzac park to beach, so spacious and comfortable. I have special needs and they catered to them, supplying shower chair, walk in shower, and bed that was so good I could take it home. Can not thank Daniel and Dana enough as well as lovely smiling staff. We booked taxi to go to marina for cruise on Lady Douglas and when taxi failed to show for booking Daniel drove us down no questions. One that we noted was sitting on balcony eating there was no flies or mosquito I would love to know how they manage that.I have stayed at lots of places over the years, but this is my favourite, only wish could stay longer. Again all thank you, we will be back one day.

Stayed here as it was central to shops, restaurants etc. We stayed in a studio room overlooking the fish pond. Rooms are large with a balcony that you can close shutters to keep the heat of the day out. Can be a bit of noise from the outside bars in the evenings on the weekends but that’s to be expected with how central the location is to the restaurant and bar area. Nice pool and pool area with 2 heated spas in a rock grotto type area. Staff were friendly and happy to give suggestions on good trips and things to do.
As others have mentioned the complex could do with a makeover, but that would not stop us staying here again. Hope to return next year.

Positives first. What a fantastic location on the corner of Macrossan Street and Wharf Street. Everything is in walking distance from the beach to restaurants and supermarket. Reception staff Michelle was great and informed us of tours and things to do. Kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher but only a bar fridge and its outside on the balcony. The room 317 had a good view and was spacious and clean. Pool area was lovely with a spa. Negatives- the room was very dated and could do with a spruce up. No washing machine or dryer. If you wanted to wash it was $4 to use communal laundry. The bedroom fan clicked on every rotation so very annoying when trying to sleep. No exhaust fan in bathroom but it did have a full size bath. For what was paid for the room I was expecting a lot more.

Just finished a week at Port Douglas staying at Club Tropical resort. Great location within 300 metres of probably 15 Dinner spots and all of your shopping needs. Great pool and very clean. Rooms are clean but Old and I am not sure if this is all rooms but ours was. Most of Club Tropical is dated but the tariff was appropriate however the location is unbeatable. Wi-Fi is basically non existent. Carparking is secure , gated and great provided your vehicle doesn't exceed 2.0 metres. That's more than enough for most vehicles and Vans. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

First class prices, third class standard. Great location if you want to be in the thick of it, however, our room was dirty, and incredibly noisy. We were directly across the road from the pub on New Year’s Eve with live music until 2am. When we requested a change of room we were rudely advised to pay a $100 cleaning fee. When we challenged this we were told to go through Booking.com who did their best but also advised the same. The venue did not seem to be interested in ensuring we were looked after. Very disappointing given the price. Ended up bailing and moving elsewhere which was cheaper and much nicer.

Our room was a good size, had obviously undergone a renovation and had everything we needed. Location was on the main street and walking distance to everything we wanted but would benefit from a larger cupboard for clothes hanging. Reception staff were very helpful. Complimentary secure off street parking was available. We would be quite happy to stay there again. We were lucky (not so good for the local businesses) - due to COVID tourist numbers were low - we could virtually get a restaurant table anywhere.

Stayed four weeks and was sad to leave. Extra large studio with everything needed for a long stay. Especially liked the kitchen on the patio where I could watch the bustle out on Macrossan Street and the park (where markets are held each Sunday) while cooking and having morning coffee. Perfect holiday feel to wake up to each day. Friendly and helpful staff. No complaints whatsoever. Will be back if I get the chance.

Note that music from the bars can intrude for rooms overlooking Macrossan street. Depends on what you’re looking for in a getaway. Alternative quiet rooms overlook the beautiful internal pond.

Yes but it does not reach all rooms so request a room that the lift goes to. Room 222 is great but lots of steps to carry bags up.
