Martinique on Macrossan is a lovely accommodation! Its location cant get any better and the tranquil and sophisticated atmothespere is amazing! The apartments were spacious and clean! Pool was beautiful and you could borrow stuff for beach, like chairs. They also provide water to fill up your bottle and ice. If you are looking for place to stay (for adults) in Port Douglas, dont look further! We loved the place and the staff!

Reception:
Upon our arrival reception reception was closed , but detailed information was left for us about the room and hotel.

Room / facilities:
Our room is on the 1st floor and is clean, well maintained and full of features. A full service kitchenette is in this room with a bar fridge. Bath towels are a bit thin and the king bed feels a bit old and is not balanced correctly on the floor, as it slops toward the bathroom.
Pillows are tired and need refreshing.
Self control split system air conditioning is in the unit, along with a balcony and outdoor setting.

Laundry:
Self service coin laundry with washers and dryers is available for use and a fee is payable on each machine.

Parking:
Parking is free and directly under the property.

Wifi:
Complementary.
Signal is sometimes a bit problematic but is mostly ok.

Conclusion:
Great location, excellent amenities, brilliant Staff, stunning pool.

Letdowns:
Shower cubical does not have a curtain and spills water onto the floor, towels are thin, noise late evening from neighboring properties and early morning noise from hotel cleaners.

Location / Nearby:
Four Mile beach, Port Douglas township.

Thank you for your detailed review. We are glad you enjoyed our property and your stay at Martinique. Just a quick note on the wifi - we are the mercy of the service providers and their service in Port Douglas can drop out from time to time. Shower curtains are not provided simply because of the all year round humidity which results in instantaneous mold on shower curtains. We do supply sufficient towels and a bath mat - extra is available on request.

If you like minimal, contemporary, white & stainless steel you won’t like Martinique. This is our fourth visit over about 12 years and while the managers have changed, Colin and Ken are continuing the high standard set by Antonia and Fred. Martinique has the prettiest pool, is in the quiet end of Macrossan St near the beach with many restaurants in walking distance. Unlike most resorts, there is a BBQ area, beach chairs are provided along with a book exchange and a nice homely atmosphere. There is a mini kitchen so you can eat in if you want. Everything is spotless. Thoroughly recommend a stay here for couples.

This was our first trip back to Port Douglas in 10 years and as it was for a significant birthday ...I did plenty of research on accommodation in advance and we were beyond impressed as Martinique completely exceeded our expectations. When I booked, I contacted the hotel about places to dine for my birthday and Ken got right back to me with an extensive list - thankful for that as we got two of the last bookings at both Malaleuca and Salsa. The location as mentioned in other reviews is perfect, so close to the beach and within close proximity to all the town has to offer! On arrival Ken presented us with a bottle of sparkling to enjoy on my birthday..a lovely gesture for which we were very thankful. The owners clearly take great pride in their hotel as the rooms, grounds and common areas were always spotless and welcoming. Now that we have rediscovered the joy of travelling to Port Douglas, we’re delighted to have found such a lovely boutique hotel for our future visits.

It is with pleasure I write this review, I had the pleasure of staying at the Martinique on Macrossan recently, and as someone that has been in hospitality for over 40 years it is such a pleasure to find operators who share my passion, the room was beautiful, clean and welcoming. The operators attention to detail was stunning from the manicured gardens to the cleanliness of the rooms, with the welcoming aroma of fresh lemongrass. Well done boys , keep up the good work.

Martinique is a cute little boutique hotel that is perfectly situated in Macrossan Street in Port Douglas and 5 minutes away from Four Mile beach. I loved everything about the experience of staying here. My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights before heading to Cairns for our live aboard trip to the the Great Barrier Reef. When we arrived, the reception guy greeted us and gave us all the tips about the tours we can book, restaurant to try and places to go for sightseeing. The room is clean and nice. Our room was the one on the top most floor which is awesome. It's high enough that mosquitoes can't reach us. This is good news because we were there during winter and have no intentions of using the aircon. We had a small kitchen complete with basic necessities like electric kettle, small fridge, microwave, pots and pans, plates etc... We got to use them when we decided to cook for dinner once. This is also a no-children allowed accomodation that makes it so cool. I loved the peace and quiet. The location is great because it is so close to the restaurants and the beach. We came at a perfect time just when the covid restrictions have eased but travelling is still scary for most people so it was quiet, there's barely any people and it was not chaotic at all. Overall rating for Martinique on Macrossan is two thumbs up. I'd stay here again when we decide to go back to Port Douglas.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at these welcoming, well located and unpretentious holiday apartments. The location at the beach end of Macrossan is perfectly positioned for a stroll along the beach in one direction and then a short walk to restaurants, shopping and the marina the other direction. Ken and Colin the hosts made us very welcome and were terrifically helpful. Their combined local knowledge was invaluable to us during our first every visit to Port Douglas and certainly made all the difference to our stay. All the apartments are 1 bedroom and couples only and whilst not of contemporary decor, do offer an appealing stay in a cool and leafy setting. The pool area is very private and beautifully maintained. All in all this is an excellent choice for a stay in Port Douglas. You will not be disappointed by the location, amenities nor the warm hospitality.

Thank you both very much for your excellent review and for choosing to stay here at Martinique on Macrossan. You have summarized our property and location very well and yes - whilst not contemporary we are intentionally of Mediterranean classic look and ambiance surrounded by our own tropical gardens. Having recently been voted in the top 25 of boutique resorts in the whole of Australia in 3 different categories including 'Romantic Getaway' - this is an accolade we are very proud to have been awarded. Thank you again for your review - hope you are able to come and visit again in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at Martinique and recommend it highly. It is just a block away from the beach. There is no view of the water, but it has a really nice pool that we swam in every day, and our balcony overlooked the pool and a lovely lush tropical garden. Our room was roomy with a separate bedroom, and a good little kitchen and living room area. It was not luxe, but very clean, attractive and comfortable. Location was also good because it is at the end of the Main Street, so it is not among all the shops and restaurants, but just a few steps away so you never need a car to eat, walk on the beach, or shop. The proprietors are very nice and helpful and responsive.

Martinique on Macrossan, run by the delightful Ken & Colin, is in the perfect location with easy access to all Port Douglas has to offer and is fantastic for couples with very little noise from children in adjoining properties. The apartment are a good size with almost everything you need. There were a couple of things that we thought were limitations. Firstly, the wardrobe was small which meant you couldn't "unpack & relax" which we do prefer to do if we're staying somewhere for more than a week, also the pool area really didn't get much sun meaning if you wanting to get any sun you had to go to the beach & we're not beach people. Having said that, they weren't significant enough to ruin our holiday, just something to be mindful of if like us, you prefer unpacking & pool time.

Thank you for your excellent review and kind words. Yes we are in a prime location; close to the beach and 2-3 mins stroll to the shops, cafes and restaurants. Our apartments are equipped with luggage racks x 2 , wardrobe including hanging, shelf and drawer space - luckily in the tropics here in far north Queensland, you'll be surprised how little you need to bring as its warm / hot all year round. Our rear garden and pool area is trimmed back 4 times a year and you'll be glad to know it was trimmed 2 weeks after your stay. We also have to be mindful for some guests who like to be out of the sun and enjoy the shaded areas. Thank you again - your review is very much appreciated.

We stayed at Martinique for 4 nights after Christmas. We found it to be in a perfect location (start of the main beach, start of the main food/shopping/bar street, and start of the main trail for the best view over the beach). The managers were lovely and Ken in particular was super helpful with advising us on things to do and how best to navigate the trips we planned to do without a tour. The apartments themselves were nicely laid out, roomy, had good aircons and were very clean. They also had free car parking on site which is great for when hiring a car (which I also recommend doing for Pt Douglas). Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.
