Martinique on Macrossan is a lovely accommodation! Its location cant get any better and the tranquil and sophisticated atmothespere is amazing! The apartments were spacious and clean! Pool was beautiful and you could borrow stuff for beach, like chairs. They also provide water to fill up your bottle and ice. If you are looking for place to stay (for adults) in Port Douglas, dont look further! We loved the place and the staff!

Reception:
Upon our arrival reception reception was closed , but detailed information was left for us about the room and hotel.
Room / facilities:
Our room is on the 1st floor and is clean, well maintained and full of features. A full service kitchenette is in this room with a bar fridge. Bath towels are a bit thin and the king bed feels a bit old and is not balanced correctly on the floor, as it slops toward the bathroom.
Pillows are tired and need refreshing.
Self control split system air conditioning is in the unit, along with a balcony and outdoor setting.
Laundry:
Self service coin laundry with washers and dryers is available for use and a fee is payable on each machine.
Parking:
Parking is free and directly under the property.
Wifi:
Complementary.
Signal is sometimes a bit problematic but is mostly ok.
Conclusion:
Great location, excellent amenities, brilliant Staff, stunning pool.
Letdowns:
Shower cubical does not have a curtain and spills water onto the floor, towels are thin, noise late evening from neighboring properties and early morning noise from hotel cleaners.
Location / Nearby:
Four Mile beach, Port Douglas township.

Thank you for your detailed review. We are glad you enjoyed our property and your stay at Martinique. Just a quick note on the wifi - we are the mercy of the service providers and their service in Port Douglas can drop out from time to time. Shower curtains are not provided simply because of the all year round humidity which results in instantaneous mold on shower curtains. We do supply sufficient towels and a bath mat - extra is available on request.

The welcome from Ken was really friendly and he guided us through the facilities thoroughly. The location is superb.....we could walk to the beach, the harbour and all the shops and restaurants in minutes. After a day of exploring the area the pool was a welcome place to relax and refresh.
The room had EVERYTHING we could possibly need including a great hairdryer....so often lacking in other places we have stayed in.
The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean; the shower had great pressure and there was plenty of hot water.
We would not hesitate in recommending this gem of a hotel to friends and family.....it really was a superb find.

We found the resort rather dated throughout, disappointing considering the price for “blending luxurious comfort, a range of impressive facilities…” that include generic Anco (Kmart) brand microwave, hair dryer, cutlery and crockery, plus a Coles brand handwash in the bathroom (hardly luxury). The Bar fridge that didn’t even keep an individual ice-cream frozen. We were advised that’s ‘normal’ for a bar fridge!
The floor surfaces weren’t particularly clean, with somewhat grotty bathroom tiles!
The office manager was friendly but the facilities manager was disbelieving and condescending when I tried to explain a minor shower leak. He could not identify it, so I took photos which he bluntly declined to view.
Our L1 apartment was sometimes not at all “peaceful” when people were directly below our room were chatting around the reception, BBQ and outdoor dining facilities. The BBQ was rather aromatic when in use and we needed to close the windows to prevent our apartment from smelling of BBQ odors or to block noise. Yes, noise happens but we shouldn’t have been located in this room when we specifically asked for a quiet room!
The “comfortable” lounge was quite hard as were the cushions.
On a positive note, it is in a good location to walk the beach and restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops on Macrossan Street being the main tourist strip.

Your review is 100% disappointing for us, especially when you have manipulated every issue you say you have encountered. We've only just replied to a review of a couple who have given us top scores in all categories and have been coming yearly to Martinique since 2009 and can't fault it. You told us of your terminal illness on the day you arrived and within the first few hours you came with a list of issues needing addressed. We thought we were very understanding and caring of your personal situation and were addressing every point you came to reception with in the first few hours of checking in. Cleanliness, health and safety are our top priority for all our guests however your issues continued and we appreciate it's different being away from your own home. If we could add by saying that the foam antibacterial hand-wash is complimentary as are the soap bars, shampoos and conditioner. We're not understanding why you had an issue for with something thing that is provided as complimentary. The freezer door in the fridge you hadn't been closing properly so it naturally wouldn't freeze your items as you had left the compartment door open. Your issue with the shower was a couple of drips coming out of the grouting - not a safety issue - this was checked when you went out of your apartment. This has since been re-grouted after your stay. The floors were hoovered and mopped with disinfectant prior to your arrival, as we do with every apartment - we are located close to the beach and simply walking in from the beach and the pavement outside does carry sand which is why we have a sand shower for rinsing feet and shoes at our entrance - again different for you from back home. In the number of years we have been hosting Martinique - this is the first time we have had an issue with cutlery and brands of electric appliances chosen for the apartment so we are quite surprised to hear this - they are all safety checked yearly and all were in working order in fact the appliances had all been renewed within the last 12 months. Our other guests had a friendly drinks get together between 6-8pm, which all guests were welcome to attend - this was a quiet gathering and was not in any way noisy. For your information, the guests who stayed in this apartment before you and after your stay had no issues with the apartment or any of its contents or equipment so we are a little taken aback at your review. Rest assured we take pride in our high standards and do our utmost for all of our guests to ensure any issues are resolved.

We started visiting Port Douglas in 2009 and have stayed in a variety of hotels.
Martinique on Macrossan is a rare gem and we hope to always stay there now.
The rooms are so comfortable, with everything you need and the setting is quiet and private, even though the hotel is perfectly located minutes from the beach on one side, and minutes from the shops and cafes on the other!
The lush tropical gardens add a gorgeous luxury element to the overall experience, and the hosts are friendly, attentive and so helpful.
A delightful holiday stay!

We stayed 6 days at Martinique and were very impressed with the location only 5 minutes walk from the beach and local cafe and a short stroll to the shops and further bars and restaurants. The accommodation was spotless and well equipped and we were given a delightful ground floor room. Little extras like chilled water, ice, books and portable chairs for the beach were all provided. Our hosts Ken and Colin were friendly and helpful. Ken offered excellent advice for trips we planned in Daintree and restaurants and delicious home made ice cream stop offs. We visited the marina and visited Agincourt reef for diving and went on a river cruise. Would have no hesitation in returning to this area and Martinique on Macrossan.

I had a great stay with Martinique on Macrossan. The room is spacious and has everything you need to be self sufficient during your stay in Port Macquire.
The location is great, close walk to many cafes and restaurants, and there is an amazing headland walk starting practically outside the hotel, and similarly four mile beach starts here also. You must stay here for the location! The room is also spotlessly clean, and air-conditioning is efficient. There is a small balcony and the surrounds are quiet. Rooms are well insulated and you won't be disturbed at all by other guests if you want a quiet stay.
Last but not least, the service is fantastic. Colin and Ken were extremely helpful in many ways which I'm indebted for - they went out of their way to ensure my stay went smoothly. and I had everything I needed.

After researching many smaller boutique hotels in Port Douglas we booked this one and we were so happy that we did. It checked off all the boxes and more! Beautiful hotel, such a great location and the host Colin was amazing.
His friendly personality and thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. We mentioned that we were heading to the Daintree for the day, he promptly gave us a cooler bag and ice pack for our lunch. When we mentioned that we were going to barbecue that evening, he left out everything that we needed by the barbecue.
It's a great hotel on it's own, the amazing customer service was the icing on the cake.

Absolutely loved this place, travelled with my son and all went really smoothly. Ken was excellent with communications and booked in advance a couple of trips for us which were amazing. Nothing too much trouble, used the BBQ outside and Ken/Colin provided utensils sauces etc. Port Douglas was our favorite place on a road trip from Brisbane and Martinique our favorite accommodation!

Lovely colonial style hotel with excellent hosts, Ken made us feel really welcome. The location was perfect, a few steps from the amazing beach and only 10-15 min walk to the bars and restaurants. We absolutely loved Port Douglas and our apartment in the Martinique provided the perfect base for our stay. Highly recommended.

Hi there,
A visit to the Barrier Reef and the Rainforest is a must - we can advise on the best tour suited to you.
There are wildlife, animal parks to visit and if you want to see crocs up close and wild then a Daintree Croc River cruise could be an option or a visit to the Crocodiile Adventure park (we can provide a discount voucher for entry).
If you are into hiking there are walks, and treks and a more adventurous hike in the deep rainforest (to be organised in advance).
A trip to Kuranda is the next most popular tour - usually up on the train and down on the skyrail and spend 2 or 3 hours in Kuranda where you could also visit the Butterfly Park or Rainforest Station Nature Park - both of which we can provide you with discount entry vouchers from our reception.
If you are adventurous then there is zip lining in the rainforest which is superb, river drift snorkelling, jet skiing, parasailing, motorbiking, mountain biking, segway, hot air ballooning, helicopter rides to give a few examples.
If you are after an Aboriginal Cultural experience then there are a few options to consider; guided bushwalks, evening cultural / dinner events, fishing and walking tours - all good opportunities to learn about Aboriginal Culture.
Around Port Douglas, there is the Bally Hooley Train and lunch option, Lady Douglas River Cruise (with complimentary drink and nibbles travels up the inlet - the commentary is excellent and you should see a croc on this tour (90 mins) and well worth it. Then there is the famous Sunday Markets (8-1pm) if you like that sort of thing.
Then there are the cafe's, bars and restaurants to sample if you are a foodie with regular live music on most nights. A brewery at the marina to sample beers too. There's even a cocktail bar close to our property so easy to stagger back from in the evening!
There are sunset tours and if you wish to travel further afield, trips to the Atherton Tablelands where you can visit waterfalls and lakes and have a swim, or take a trip to Cooktown to visit the famous museum (overnight trips are available too)
Or you could just sit on the beach and have a swim in the ocean (between the flags) or enjoy our heated pool in our rear gardens where it's so relaxing, you'll end up reading and having a nap on the sunbeds. We are an adults only boutique resort so very calm and peaceful.
As you can see there are plenty of options - please ask at our reception and we can assist with your plans and book trips for you with no booking charge or fee. We have local maps, magazines, guides and discount vouchers we can provide.
