We stayed in 2 superior 2 bedroom apartments for our family get-together. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious and well-appointed and we loved the large balconies overlooking the resort pool and tropical gardens. Easy access to town and the beach and reasonable price for peak Easter holiday time. We loved our stay and will be back.
We booked this apartment for the start of our road trips in Australia - one bedroom apartment - had everything you need for a couple of nights stay - great that it had a washer and dryer - only comment I would make is that if your here for more than a coupe of days you would need more towels - 2;is not sufficient
Cancelled our stay after being shown our "refubished" room, as it was dark and not at all in keeping with the tropical and colourful decor one would expect in of all places, Far North Queensland. Instead it had Dark Brown decor...and just a bit drab to go with the dark and dingy....
We booked a superior 2 bedroom apartment we had read the reviews and knew the rooms would be a bit tired but the rooms we had were run down, dark, seat covers stained, blinds broken and cane furniture coming undone. Dirty oven tray in the oven, piece broken off the glass hop....am guessing by the reviews it’s hit or miss to the furniture in the rooms. We also experienced 2 permanent residents having a violent fight, there was a man screaming help and that he was going to be killed he then was running screaming through the place for the police to be called. The police turned up we are not sure what happened as no management appeared to be on site. The gates to make the car park secure were broken the whole time we were there. On the plus side the breakfast was fine and the man in reception very friendly. Would not recommend you would expect better for 3 star.…
We had a wonderful holiday at the Sands Resort. The three-bedroom unit was ideal for our family, was clean and well-maintained. The children aged 8,9 and 13 years loved the pool. The included breakfast beside the pool was most enjoyable and helped to make this place special. The Managers were helpful and full of useful information. We are coming back next year as we were so delighted with this property.
Having visited port douglas on many occasions over the years including my honeymoon i always look forward to leaving the cold of south Australia and heading north. I chose this hotel as i had been disappointed in the standards of other hotels in the past, something i brought to the attention of Amanda Fraser on checking in. On entering my apartment i was obviously in need of renovating and better cleaning ( pictures taken) . When i went down to the breakfast room it was noticeable that the FIRE ALARM was hanging down from the ceiling and when a gentleman appeared from the rear of the room i asked who he was ( Ian)and was he aware of the alarm hanging from the ceiling ? He informed me it was his daughter who ran the resort and that the alarm still worked ! It was obvious to me he was already on the defensive to support his daughter by his attitude and manner towards a newly arrived paying guest . When i pointed out that the class screen between me and the pool was filthy and that my room was also not as clean as i expected he responded by saying and i quote " what is it you expected ? we are a 3 star resort , we do the best we can " un- quote. I asked that he come and take a look at my room, which he said he would do later. When he came to my room it was with another lady ( maybe hes wife ?) who had her arms folded in front of her and looked at me as if i was a nobody not in fact a paying guest . Ian , who now suggested he was the head of the resort was verbally aggressive and shouted and i quote " Whats your problem ? your just a whinger " un quote . He was shown dirty walls ,doors washing machine with hairs/mould ,dirty/stained seat covers etc . He eventually said he would get it sorted but still could not see an issue , my photos will show otherwise. He also got into my personal space trying to intimidate me ,which was never going to happen. After i had left and returned home i contacted him in relation to my stay by telephone , he acknowledged calling me a whinger and made no apology for doing so. Further more after contacting him via the resort feedback ,i received an email that was now getting personal and telling me i should and i quote " get a life" un quote. He also had been looking me up on facebook and made reference to my sport of cycling. This man is a total disgrace to the owners of the resort and to hes daughter and son in law who are the actual management team. I will also quote from Amanda Fraser from 2007 Quote- I have never worked with holiday and permanent letting or run a business of my own " un quote - It clearly shows.…
We had a nice clean 3 bedroom apartment with everything we needed. We didn't need the facilities of a premium resort, and Sands suited us very well. There's a lovely pool and BBQ, complete with a toddler-friendly sand pit and wading area, and nice albeit not overly-spacious grounds. There's a basic buffet breakfast included (cereal, juice, toast, instant coffee). Our unit had full kitchen (and laundry) facilities, including full sized refrigerator, 4 burner hotplate and dishwasher. The lounge area was comfortable with Foxtel available. The main bedroom also had a TV and en suite. Our unit had a balcony with a large table and plenty of chairs. You can walk to the beach though the grounds of the Sheraton (where we had lunch one day), or it's a quick drive in to town or to the patrolled part of the beach. Or, if you prefer it's a brisk 25 minute walk into town or to the marina. .…
We stayed there for three nights and really good apartment. It was fully renovated , new kitchen and bathroom. Kitchen utensils were sufficient and good clean for the whole apartment. The bedroom size was good for two of us , walking distance to the Four Mile beach and easy access to town. Recommend this place.
Had a really big appartment. Washing machine! We needed that after quite some travelling. Owners ever so helpful. Beds were comfortable! Gave us some real good tips. Went snorkling. Port Douglas is a nice little town. Really enjoyed our stay there.
Stayed here with family in a 3 bedroom apartment. Bedrooms were adequate and generous living space was provided. The customer service was impeccable. Unfortunately the apartment lacked basic cleaning... ie: floors needed to be cleaned again and the airconditonings we had to clean ourselves due to the excessive dust. The place had alot of potential.. the staff were understanding and responded when approached.
