We booked in to Ramada Port Douglas to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The check in was friendly and helpful, but being part of a time share facility, the lady at the front wasted no time inviting me to a presentation with bribes of $100 voucher and a wrist band with door lock so I didn’t have to carry the door card with me. The resort is not close to the main town, but we had a hire car so that wasn’t a problem for us and we were aware is was out of town.

The room was a one bedroom apartment with an entrance, a large bedroom, bathroom, and combined kitchen/dining/living area. The kitchen had a stove, microwave oven, full sized fridge and cooking utensils if you wished to prepare your own meals. There was a good sized wardrobe with more coat hangers than usual, and a safe on one of the wardrobe shelves.

Both the living area and bedrooms have air conditioners. We were instructed to leave the air cons running to prevent condensation. I found the noise of the air conditioner distracting for sleeping, but this didn’t bother my husband.

Our first night and first morning we ate at the poolside restaurant. This is where things went downhill. The selection or meals is limited and the quality is average. At night both the kitchen and bar close at 8pm. We were astounded by this. We’re not big drinkers but I could imagine it would be nice sitting by the pool after dinner having a drink. Perhaps this is a conscious effort on behalf of the resort to stop people hanging around the pool at night? We found a lovely hidden gem of a cafe walking distance (St Crispins Cafe) where we had breakfast daily thereafter. The room service menu is even more limited and if you order too late you have to pick the meal up at reception: it isn’t even delivered to your room!

The pool is warm and pleasant with various floating devices to use if you wish. There are plenty of reclining lounges so you’d be unlucky not to find one to use. There is also a swim up bar where you can have a drink, but I didn’t use that.

We were advised there was beach access from the rear of the property, but were surprised when we followed the path to come out on a road. It was only a short walk from here through to the beach, but not what we expected.

Housekeeping was hit and miss. The first day the towels were changed and bed made, the second no housekeeping at all and I had to phone in the late evening requesting it, and the third, the face washers weren’t replaced and only 2 of the 4 pillows were placed on the bed.

Overall the stay was nice and the room lovely and spacious.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for 4 nights. It was comfortable but a little odd that there are no balconies on any of the rooms. You are advised to keep the air conditioning & fans on at all times due to the humidity. This kept the room at a nice temperature but meant that most people preferred to sit by the pool each afternoon in the fresh air. Hence the pool area gets very busy and people leave their belongings on seats to reserve them even while not at the pool are which is annoying. This place has a well equipped gym, one of the best we have seen at a resort. We enjoyed drinks at the swim up bar, the giant chess set and ping pong table where a favourite for our kids. Only downside was the location which is a long way from the main part of town and restaurants so we had to spend $30+ per night to get the shuttle bus into town for meals. It would be great if the resort provided a shuttle bus for guests at peak times.

We spent 5 nights here in a one bedroom apartment in A black. Apartment is large and well furnished. It had everything we needed, including a blender! Plenty of cookware, crockery, glassware, a decent size fridge, dishwasher, well stocked laundry powder, dishwashing liquid, shampoo, conditioner and moisturiser that smell lovely. It was quiet, spacious, clean, nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff.
Plenty of bikes to ride, including e-bikes and a great bar and pool with loungers. Pool towels and plenty in the room.
We loved our stay and it wasn’t far to the IGA and wildlife habitat.
Plenty of games for kids and adults to play, a nice space to relax and read.
Shuttle buses run back and forth to town.
The beach isn’t far away to walk to.
Only downside is the resort restaurant meal choices are limited, but the food is good and the drinks reasonably priced.
Highly recommend the resort. We will definitely be back.

We stayed at Ramada resort for three nights. The rooms are built around a courtyard with lots of lush tropical plants, small rippling pools with fish, and a mid sized swimming pool. We ate at the restaurant every night and found the food and the service pretty good. It wasn’t haute cuisine with no pretension or aspiration to be anything but middle class tucker, but well prepared. Tables are well spaced in a semi open area. All the staff are very pleasant. Our room was airy and fairly large, but a bit dark given the trees and its position. Wi-Fi was a little slow but worked well. The resort is also close the famous beach.
My only gripes are as follows: there appeared to be only one lift and we had a long walk from the front door to its entrance. And then another long walk down the corridor to get to our room. I rang the resort to book our accommodation rather than booking online as I wanted to stress to the person I spoke to that my husband has a disability which renders walking difficult. This clearly fell on deaf ears.
Gripe #2: While you are there you will be approached by a very friendly woman who will offer you $100 plus dining discounts if you’d be willing to attend a 90 minute presentation designed to ‘publicize Wyndham resorts world wide.’ Naively I thought this was a pretty good deal, although I did wonder why such publicity would take so long. Long story short - this is a hard sell designed to promote time share properties at Wyndham resorts. Had the very nice woman mentioned ‘time share’ I would have refused. As it was it resulted in a lot of embarrassment and annoyance (from me) and very pissed off presenters because they obviously deduced I was there under false pretences. And they were right, as we have absolutely no interest in time share properties.
Having said all that we would go again. It’s just a really nice place.

Awful experience. When we first arrived it was great. Lovely service then it all went down hill. We were given keys to someone else’s room so when we opened the door someone else’s things were everywhere in there. We then went back to reception and they moved us to another room right next door to the laundry mat and also a lift that was being renovated. When I asked about noise and if this was on their website they said an email was sent out. This was not the case had we of known we would have looked elsewhere. I asked how close to the noise it was and she said we were 3 rooms away. Again when we checked in. Our room was directly next to the lift. I asked if we could moved and was advised they were fully booked (this wsd not the case as we checked the website and there was rooms available) we then asked to speak to the supervisor and was met with a very inexperienced unprofessional young man who proceed to do absolutely nothing about it and offer us $25. Are you kidding! He said he would email it over. $25 would barely buy a garlic bread in their restaurant. when we did finally go to the restaurant we said we wanted to use the voucher. We checked our emails and had nothing. The gentlemen’s then said we needed a physical voucher from reception which we didn’t get. Again focussing on the “managers” incapabilities . Hardly compensation for the horrible experience. We then went to our room and overnight the air conditioner didn’t get what felt below 27 degrees and the room was awfully warm. It also makes a horrible noise so now we had a sleepless night to top it off. Awful awful experience and I won’t be back or recommending this hotel. If your going to stay in port Douglas do yourself a favour and stay closer to the Main Street as this is also about a 7 min drive to the shops and nightlife.

Great resort, close to Port Douglas with bike hire facilities. Amazing pool and swim up bar! Breakfast was great with a good choice of lunch and evening meals if you don’t want to make the journey to town. We took an Uber into town on several occasions which only cost around $11, good value for 4 people!

We stayed for a week and, after a horrendous day of travel, found the Ramada a beacon of peace and rest. The only downsides for us were not having a microwave or toaster in the room and the lack of veggo and gluten free items on the menu at 316 restaurant. Despite this, we will return as the hotel is clean, the staff friendly and helpful and the hotel a quiet space often necessary after busy days on the reef or in the Daintree.
The pool is clean, inviting and well-designed. The grounds are beautiful, green and fresh and the ponds add another natural, peaceful element to the calm atmosphere.
We will return!

When we arrived at 6.30pm we were offered a glass of champagne. It was a nice touch and exactly what we needed. Although as we were checking in, the lady then assisted someone else and the other receptionist suggested we come for our champagne tomorrow before we check out. A very weird start. When we got in the pool it was 7.30. We went to go to the swim up bar for a drink and there were two signs “Swim up Bar Hours - 12pm - Late” and another one next to it “Swim Up Bar Closed”. It was 7.30 on a Saturday night? The pool is open till 9? Then the kids were playing in the pool, and a staff member came up (I did get her name but I won’t publish it publicly) and quite rudely asked our boys to stop hitting the pool noodles in the water because people are trying to have their dinner. At 8.45 we asked to order a milkshake for the kids but we were told they had already cleaned the blades. When we got back to the room we went to eat some Thai that we ordered for dinner, but there were no forks in the drawer. We rang reception and we were asked if we could come and collect them as they were quite busy. The resort is great, they just need to improve some minor service issues. We only stayed for one night. Perhaps if we stayed for more it might have improved.

We loved the Port Douglas region.
Unfortunately the Ramada was a dump. We were swayed by the other reviews but things are very different in reality.
From the noise that travels through the paper thin walls, ceilings and floors to the mouldy walls and blood stained blankets there were no positives to our visit. Pool view rooms are extremely noisy until late into the night, and the other rooms overlook bursting rubbish bins or abandoned cars. These cars never move, which means you have to park on the main Port Douglas road and hope no damage is done to your vehicle. The daily housekeeping claim is a con, and does not exist. It was the main reason we chose Ramada over the other options. You are required to ask reception daily for more toilet roll, coffee sachets and fresh linen and then clean your room yourself, including taking out your own rubbish by walking through the corridors. Dishwasher liquid is provided for you to wash mugs and glasses in the bath or basin... The staff offer no explanation regarding the lack of housekeeping and simply simile at you blankly. If there is ANY other accomodation available in town, my advice would be to stay at one of them, or alternately just sleep in your car, you will be more comfortable.

Having stayed at many resorts this one isn't great. The reception staff look like they need to be somewhere else. No friendly smiles, no effort other than trying to friend you with a welcome drink to con you into a 2hr seminar for what we finally realised was timeshare. We cancelled that so don't get caught. We waited 2 hrs to get into the room even when it's stated check in after 2pm. If you need fresh towels or toilet paper you have to go to reception to ask. I understand short staff and covid rules that apply now but what I will never understand is the completed lack of looking after your guests who have paid to stay. We never had breakfast or dinner at the resort as it looked like the restaurant was a cheap food court. Plastic tables and chairs. The pool area was taken up most days by families and kids. Not great if your there to relax. Book a couple's resort instead. This resort looks tired and needs maintenance. Also forget about getting a park in the afternoon, you have to park on the road. What was supposed to be a special holiday for me with relaxing days by the pool ended up being completely different. At least I enjoyed Pt Douglas and everything the surrounding area had to offer. We won't be recommending or back.
