We stayed at the The Mediterranean Port Douglas for 7 nights in October 2021. We are a blended family of 4 with a 14yo boy and 12 yo girl. We all absolutely loved this place. We had a 3BR room apartment which is at the rear of the resort and it was really quiet and so well equiped. So much so that it was like a home away from home. The 3BR were lovely with 2 queen beds and another room with 2 singles. The second room with the queen bed had a huge walk in wardrobe and all other rooms has built in robes and the main bedroom had an ensuite which was huge. The kitchen was amazing with every utensil you could think of, microwave and enough pots and pans to cook meals for the family. We also made good use of the poolside bbq and had a few dinners poolside - heavenly! The pool was lovely and Miss 12, who has stayed in many places, said this was the best pool she's ever been in so that is a statement. Mr 14 made full use of the many paths and quiet roads around Port Douglas and skateboarded everywhere. Both children were up early and out and about, the place was so safe and friendly and they both felt comfortable doing this. 4 mile beach is within walking distance, especially if you love walking which we do. We also had a hire car, so a quick 5 minutes trip into the main street was no issue whatsoever. We loved the location in that it wasn't directly in town and this added to the relaxed vibe we felt here. Craig the manager was very helpful and friendly, always saying hello to us and making sure we were ok. I can see other reviews that aren't 5 star, but every person has different wants and needs for a holiday destination. We have all travelled extensively and stayed at 5 star places and camped and roughed it and found that The Mediterranean really had EVERYTHING we could need as a family of 4. We ate in Port Douglas, did the markets, a reef trip, walked all over town, 4 mile beach, Kuranda, Cairns, Mossman Gorge and a few days just poolside. The room had internet access and a smart TV which we could log into Netflix with. All in all, this was the perfect place, perfect location and perfect family holiday. We will be back!

Looking around for a festive stay, there were many places to choose from, however none I believe offered the value as The Mediterranean. 15/20 minute stroll into town/marina meant you could leave the car in the secure car park or should you need to pick up some shopping and want to avoid carrying it back in the heat - then a two minute drive will be all you need. Craig welcomed us on arrival and was very friendly and inquisitive as to our plans whilst in town - only for the reason to suggest things had we not already had bookings made. A great pool and spa (not huge, but big enough) helped cool us down after each days activities. Spacious ground floor - two bed apartment that we had, had everything we needed - our only comments were that the queen bed in the master bedroom was perhaps a little too firm for us and did make for some restless sleeps but others may like a harder mattress in which case you won’t be disappointed. The only other thing was our outdoor seating didn’t really have any view as such but we found ourselves sitting by the pool most of the time if not out in town. I’d have no hesitation in recommending The Med for anyone visiting Pt Douglas.

It would be hard to find an apartment as good as the one I stayed in for the price. The high ceilings gave an extra feeling of spaciousness and the outlook from the bedrooms both had a view over the magnificent pool. We were met by the managers who were very helpful and pleasant. The Unit was situated just a 15min stroll from the Main Street in Port Douglas and also across the road was just a three minute stroll to the main beach. Considering the price paid for many resorts in Port Douglas this was value indeed and was far bigger than any others I have stayed in. I would certainly recommend this to anybody, it was quiet and extremely comfortable which made our stay a great one, if I had the money I would even buy it!!!

The most spacious apartment I've ever stayed in and it had a view over that gorgeous pool! ! Quite an elegant building with it's magnificent staircase from the main foyer. Security parking and the Onsite Management are very friendly and helpful too. Quite busy when we were here in January and it was meant to be the Off Season. A great escape for a lot North Americans at that time of year apparently to escape their winter. So Port Douglas is a brilliant place any time of year so we'll be back so we'd better get this place booked again to escape our winter. We did meet some of the owners while at the pool and they live here for 6 months of the year - perfect setup! I would opt for one of the units that face out to Davidson Street at the back of the building as it would be much quieter. Recommend this place and I certainly can't understand the negative comments...some people are just too hard to please at best of times!

I booked a standard double room. Was disappointed that the pictures of a modern room with a tiled floor - was not what I was given. We arrived at 3.30pm in Sunday 26th and reception was not open. We were left an envelope in a basket At the reception desk, which had a ‘welcome letter’ and key to our room. Our room was clean enough but really dated. There was no information booklet in the room! It was a very basic room. They have a pool, however don’t provide pool side towels. So you are required to use your room towels. On the Monday our room was not cleaned nor were our towels replaced. This is quite unhygienic. Even though it is a ‘hotel’ it is certainly not managed as a true hotel. Won’t be staying there again, nor recommending it to anyone.

This was a reasonable sized place to stay for a family. The pool and grounds were well maintained and location was quiet. We stayed in a 3 bedroom at back of property on top floor and were content with most beds. Air conditioning was okay but not cold enough in all rooms. Floors lacked cleanliness and lounge area was in need of attention and updating. It had most cooking utensils and crockery but $5 per pool towel was an interesting extra cost to incur. Items needing repair were attended to quickly and extra supplies readily provided. Overall, the rooms were satisfactory and adequate.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The first night I was extremely tired as I had flown in from interstate and not had any sleep. Shower was good and room clean. Had a cup of tea and the milk in the fridge was opened and nearly empty. Aircon in room was good, thankfully as it was pretty hot. I couldn’t use my fan as it had one speed, extra fast. As I was sitting on my bed drinking my tea I could hear the person in the room above me walking around, as being heavy footed the thump thump thump reverberates through the building, then the sound of chairs and who knows what was being moved around. The second night (which is now and nearly midnight) I have been woken in my sleep by the walking around the room again! And I can hear everything they are doing! Sounds like he’s fixing things? What the friggin hell do some people do in their room? Apart from this annoyance earlier in the evening the room next door had their fan on and I could hear it through the wall as it was a knocking sound! Thank god they turned it off as I didn’t want to have my tv on extra loud to muffle that sound! Now at 6 minutes past midnight the Person in the room next to me is having a shower and it is extremely loud!!!! I can hear them pissing in the toilet and the seat slammed down! Now the fan is on again with its knocking sound and the other person is having a shower! It is A REALLY ANNOYING SOUND! Cheap flimsy floors and walls with noisy guests is not an enjoyable experience! If you want a peaceful sleep, this isn’t the place!

Booked this accommodation for 2nights whilst having a short stay in port douglas to visit the Great Barrier Reef (which is a must do!!) We were greeted by a very welcoming staff member named Craig who was extremely helpful with all of his recommendations throughout our stay. Perfect accommodation, lovely pool area to relax also. Easy shuttle service to and from main tourist centre with all bars and restaurants or a short 20-25min walk. To make the most of our time we also did a day trip to Daintree river before our departing flight also recommended by Craig which involved leaving at 7.30am in the morning our luggage was well looked after and waiting in storage for our return. Nothing to fault about this place very comfortable and enjoyable stay! Thank you :)

WE will never stay there again. Prefer to pay extra to get what we pay for. The so called smart Tv never was. One door to the room could not be locked. Everything was extra - eg toilet paper roll eg tea bags Not run as it could be

Nice small complex. Clean & quiet apartment. Great BBQ & pool area. No fly screens in windows, or doors. Inside of unit a bit dated, but everything works. Internet extremely slow, not worth paying extra $ for.
