My husband and I recently had the opportunity to stay at Niramaya villas for 2 weeks and it was amazing. The gardens are beautiful and the front desk staff were very helpful with booking tours, suggesting restaurants and helping with some printing we needed. Initially we were concerned with the resort being 5 kms from town and not close to the beach. The end of 5 mile beach is a short walk straight out of the resort and to get around you have access to multiple local shuttle services ($4-5 per person per trip). We used the shuttle daily and the longest wait we experienced was 10 minutes. Within walking distance you have an IGA grocery store, bottle shop and fish shop. Our Balinese style villa was beautifully designed, the gardens were perfectly maintained and our heated private plunge pool was a bonus. We had our sliding doors opened most of the day and didn’t see many insects. We only went to the resort pool a few times. It’s a quiet place with walking trails and the sounds of nature. Once we went to happy hour at the resort bar but we didn’t get to the restaurant. The villas have substantial kitchens with plenty of crockery, pots and pans and cutlery. We had an easy to use outdoor teppanyaki style BBQ. There was no shortage of fluffy towels and the L’Occitan bath products were a nice treat. Our WiFi was excellent, no problems doing my Zoom meetings. The large screen TV was connected to surround sound speakers that I’ve already checked into purchasing for our home. The price may seem high for this resort compared to some others in Port Douglas but the experience is well worth the price. It’s a holiday I will remember for a long time and I’m already working on my husband to go back.

What a beautiful place! The design of Niramaya is stunning. Although it's only a short shuttle ride into town, you feel as though you are in the midst if nature, with green mountains on the horizon, and a lagoon in the centre of the resort where magpie geese and other birds gather in the evening. The villas are lovely, and resort staff were very kind, and helped us make a couple of schedule changes which became necessary because of COVID shutdowns in NSW. We came away from our week's stay feeling thoroughly re-energised and rejuvenated.

Big roomy villas. Fantastic setting surrounded by beautiful gardens. Amazing facilities. Very friendly and helpful staff. Loved lazing on the pool bed next to the pool which is right outside the bedroom. Loved the privacy. We'll be back.

This is a seriously stunning place, from the moment you arrive it is a wonderful experience, the staff are just genuinely pleasant and happy to help in every possible way, all of them, sensational. Then you get to the Villa, just mind bogglingly good, so spacious , full of light and air , and huge dimensions. It is a wonderful place, do yourself a favour.

We had seen this place when it was Bales and was excited to be actually able to stay, despite false starts because of COVID. Our Villa was lovely, not like the ones I had seen before, but equally lovely. PRIVATE POOL - the pool was nice and WARM, not cold like some others we have stayed in in PD - We love being able to relax in our own pool and space. GARDEN - OUTDOORS - pergola was large, private and keep us dry from the rain at this time of the year. We enjoyed the BBQ and just being outside - and no we did not find any mosquitoes - nice, The planting were well cared for making the outdoors very pleasant - both front and back gardens were beautifully light. INDOORS - the kitchen, living areas was large and pleasant, but like other there is a lack of power points, if you want to use the toasted, kettle and coffee machine forget it as there are only two points on the bench. We put the phone on the floor and computer on the phone stand as that was the only convenient place for the computer, are place to charge phones etc if you did not want to sit on the floor. COFFEE MACHINE - there is a coffee machine and pods in the room, but only four pods, if you want more you have to pay for them - VERY POOR FOR HIGH PRICED ACCOMMODATION - when you are paying this much for accommodation you expect the pods to be replaced not to pay more. We tried to find the pods at Woolworths but they did not have the same ones - POOR SHOW NIRAMAYA BEDROOM - piece of advice if you are staying - ASK ABOUT THE BED - we did not and go a lovely room but the bed was about six inches off the ground and then the mattress, we are seniors and the bed was way too love for us. They must have better beds. Like others here we were disappointed that there was no change of towels or beds made up. There is a washing machine so we could wash and dry the towels but for a place like this it was disappointing. BREAKFAST - we had breakfast included but when we got there found they had change to a CREDIT. Most days the credit covered breakfast but again disappointing with the change in conditions. We had a book for breakfast - yes book not just able to go down when we wake up - very annoying when you are on holidays to have to arrange your day from the start. You were also required to book for lunch and the restaurant was not open for dinner. TO BE FAIR, WE DID FIND THAT WE HAD TO BOOK FOR NEARLY EVERY RESTAURANT IN PORT DOUGLAS AND FOUND LITTLE VACANCIES - THERE ARE APPARENTLY NOT ENOUGH STAFF , JOB VACANCIES EVERYWHERE FOR WAITERS, BAR STAFF AND CHEFS. NOISE - this was not a problem for us, but when I asked about noise I was advised that you could not hear the road noise, this is incorrect, if you are outside you can definitely hear the road noise but not when inside if the windows and doors are closed Niramaya is lovely and we would go back but only if there are normal height beds
